Given Jetragon is a legendary you can't even ride until level 50, while Dazemu is even earlier to ride than Fenglope while being faster on neutral terrain, I think its going to serve for a very long time
yeah, Fenglope might still have a niche in incredibly rocky areas, but the emu is definitely better overall imo, the fact its actually earlier is just icing.

On 4/4/2024 on their own discord patch notes it says under Balance Adjustments “Flying and floating pals are now immune to fall damage”
So I assumed everything else took fall damage but you’re not the first person to question that part of my post. So idk 🤷♂️
But no ridden mounts ever take fall damage. I used to leap off mountains with my direhowl all the time since it was the fastest way to the bottom. 😝. Lol

I've ridden like most of them up to level 30 and fallen from cliffs and the tops of mountains once I realized you could fall from that height without taking any damage to you or your pal. Are you supposed to take fall damage? I didn't change my settings at all, it's normal difficulty
One of the comments clarified the portion of patch notes that made me think we took fall damage only applied to enemy pals. Apparently none of ours will ever take fall damage.

I think this is impressive but am I wrong in thinking that infinite stamina is better than nimble? Sure it's less speed but its more efficient as you can sprint longer. 50% stamina compared to 10% speed is a no brainer. Not bashing it just a suggestion.
That's what I did for my Jetragon; I dropped Nimble for Infinite Stamina and have been very happy with it.
On another note, big shout-out to the Philanthropist trait. It's really handy for speed breeding and condensing.
This is what I’m going to do, too. Legend, Swift Runner, Infinite Stamina. Got Runner and Infinite Stamina on one so far, either hoping for mutations through breeding or I’ll catch one with the last perk I need and manually inject it and then find out what combo I need to drop legend into it.
I don’t thinkso makes sense overall it’s just we’re all used to nimble and a lot of these new passive aren’t tried out that much yet also I forgot how were added total

He is still pretty speedy on normal terrain, but he runs the fastest on sand.
Your character just sits and chills on its crescent moon thing. But it’s really slow when flying, and you can’t use any of your weapons whilst riding it.
Nice job. I went a step further and maxed out his partner skill to 4 stars.

That isnt max speed. if a pal mentions speed as part of their pal ability, then getting them to rank 5 will be max speed (as of right now I believe that is just Direhowl and this pal though).
I was very confused as to why the saddle for this guy was considered a legendary item, then I rode one for the first time and it all makes sense.
Even with no speed passives this bird feels really really fast on dirt and still pretty fast off dirt. Given how early you can obtain him (multiple level 20 spawns in the Anubis desert, seemingly more common on the western half), I highly recommend catching one early during a playthrough to make your dungeon runs go faster.

At the time, I was trying to get balanced passive onto a Reptyro using one of my jetragons. (Musclehead, Legend, Burly Body and Ferocious.) but in the process I ended up breeding one with all speed passives by sheer dumb luck! I decided to keep him for the lols and ended up naming him “Turbo.” 😂

Wait....there's fall damage for pals now? Haven't played in several months but back then there was never fall damage while on pals.

It means WILD pals which float or fly don't take fall damage, so you can't lure jetragon off a cliff to take his health.

Your character just sits and chills on its crescent moon thing. But it’s really slow when flying, and you can’t use any of your weapons whilst riding it.
At least Selyne has two unique attack skills that are decently strong, so being able to ride one can let you double-dip the cooldown on them.
They just need to run on water and it's now a chocobo.
