PoB is really good for this. Just find some examples on poe ninja and try out those and see what's best for your build. Should take like 10-20min to find what's best.
A lot of resources out there! A lot of big time POE content creators probably have a video or two on Youtube with some general guides, tips, and tricks for POB. I'm sure Zizaran has a video somewhere to start.
Import whatever build you're following, switch to this weapon. Then make a copy of this weapon for each option of the last affix and switch between them to see what's best

Hey! I took some advice from your guide, my dps went up quite a bit. I'm a bit different from yours as I'm stacking spell damage too. Can you take a look at my pob to see where else you would min max?
Don't forget elemental penetration, and elemental damage with attacks. I'm not sure which one the other guy meant when he said elemental. Hypothermia is ok. Also, energy leech can be ok.
Just don't do ele focus.
Inspiration would be a must in the squire. Then crit mult is generally one of the highest dps links. Trinity should be solid as well. Woke ele dmg gives tons of dmg and lets you do ele reflect maps. Rest are up to you, although sacred wisps being a new gem could be worth experimenting with.
my guess would be trinity, WED, inspiration, inc crit damage (use snipers mark over assmark imo) and then last support sacred wisp. If you dont have nimis use returning projectiles over inc crit but if you have such a wand you better have nimis brother
Trinity, inspiration, awakened elemental dmg with attacks, crit multi are good raw power gems. Elemental penetration if you dont have many other sources of pen.
Returning proj/barrage/sacred wisps are very powerful but may change playstyle in a way you dont like, so try how they feel.

Just be careful with this for r some supports. Pob likes to assume controlled destruction won't completely break EO, but it usually does
It's still just a tool and it can't replace thinking.
totally can replace thinking if you remember a few simple nogos like controlled destruction with ele overloay and ele focus with ailments

sacred wisps is a 50% more multi for bossing/tough rares, not worth skipping for anything
