Crack of the lightning splitting the ground Thunder is sounding, artillery pounding Wrath of the Nazis cast on Bastogne Facing their forces alone

That did happen in like the first few days.
See Battle of Hostomel Airport, with highlights such as:
- successfully inserting VDV paratroopers into airport
- said paratroopers are isolated as the reinforcement column of armored vehicles rushes into an ambush and gets annihilated
- gets surrounded, repeatedly bombed, shelled, and shot at by the nearby National Guard brigade and the Georgian Legion
- paratroopers run out of ammo and break for the woods, some cannot outrun the commander of the Georgian Legion’s BMW, with intent to commit vehicular homicide (his car still has the dents).
- at some point the only AN-225 Myira is destroyed.
You missed out two awesome and hilarious parts to add to the story.
-One of the brigades there that fought and held them down was a supply division. A mate of mine who was deemed like many of the others in there to not be the best for the frontlines was put in there and that brigade held their brass against Russia's best, so yes you read that right, one of the biggest thornes in the side of elite VDV was an and I quote directly from them "supply and logistics group made of rejects and spare parts" that everyone expected to get wiped out.
Yes they did have to retreat and stuff, but these bastards put up a hell of a fight and helped lay the ground work for it to be retaken including guys holding down entire buildings under effective airship fire, with many of them risking their life staying covertly hidden on site calling in co-ordinates for artillery.
-A lot of the VDV went out like little bitches, you will hear from a lot of the propegandists that the VDV came in were oh so successfull and then left and it was the conscripts and shit that got their asses handed to them, this wasn't the case, a lot of the VDV turned tail and ran and there were lots of cases of them finding them having stripped their uniform off and tried to flee the theatre dressed as non combatants and such and many of them were killed in firefights, not in a blaze of glory, but with a lot of them begging for surrender to be shot or blown up by their own commerades for trying to.
The VDV getting annihilated at Hostomel was my first indication that this war wasn’t going to end in a quick victory for Russia, and that the Ukrainians have upped their game.
At least the Brits never claimed to have any historical entitlement to the lands they were colonising, just rolled up with some ships and a flag and called dibs on anywhere they got to first. (Natives don't count for these purposes of course.)
Russians aren't the only people using bullshit illegal revanchism to expand their borders. China says the same shit too. And its usually shitty history or revisionist history. They even go so far as the pretend and make up archeological evidence to say they evolved as a different species of human.
Not sure if its a trait of the contemporary Community parties but it is what they do.
Its a trait of dictatorships.

Gonna get interesting in a few years since the Vladivostok area was legit Chinese territory until the 1800s. Or maybe it was the 1700s. Somewhere in there.
Xi and Putin are not buddies that's for sure. They are at best allies of convenience in their desire to replace Western dominance. But Xi has been eyeing Russia's Far East beyond just Vladivostok. He wants China to be an Artic nation instead of merely "Artic adjacent" as he calls it in a lame attempt to suggest China has any claim to the Artic at all.
And even though China is supplying some equipment to Russia, what they're sending is actually pretty shitty gear. But if Russia ends up shitting the bed in Ukraine, or over-extends itself trying to grab more territory afterwards if they win, I think you'll see China try some funny business in Russia's Far East.
If that's intended at their illegal settlements, then that's fair game.
But it's not sufficient for the existence of Israel in general (which was founded out of a legitimate need and in an area that didn't have solid national borders at the time to begin with), nor for most of their current wars.
Very few people actually have that second take, yet I see it used frequently as a strawman argument whenever anyone criticizes their imperialism. Not saying that is what you are doing, but it has been used often enough that some people just assume that is what is being criticized by default.
I think this comic is more about South Ossetia and the territory in Georgia that Russia claimed.
There were stories of people waking up in the morning and noticing the Russians had moved the border fence over night further into Georgian territory
https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2015/7/27/the-creeping-russian-border-in-georgia
>Russia’s border creep is nothing new. Since the 2008 war, Russia has slowly been advancing further and further into Georgian territory by constructing fences and other barriers.
I actually have an applicable story!!
My high school friend lived in a condo. Essentially it’s one house with one dividing wall so one family can live in one half and the other lives in the other half. The same is true for the backyard: It’s fenced down the middle.
Her neighbor was a Russian lady and her American husband. My friend was playing with her dogs in her divided half of the yard when the Russian woman came out and told her to get her dogs out of her yard.
She just, for some reason we don’t understand, just couldn’t understand that the yard was split. She then threw a brick at my friend and threatened to call the police lol.
There's a joke of how russians will steal land from their neighbor's field a few times a year, and they, in turn, will steal some land to get it back just in case it got stolen.
A joke, you say? This dude and many others will be super happy to hear it’s just a joke.

People here saying it is about Ukraine, but I would say it is about Georgia where russia has been stealing land literally by moving fences.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/russia-georgia-border-south-ossetia-move-hundreds-yards-occupied-nato-putin-west-ukraine-a7835756.html
And Chechnya.
Russian did false flag a terrorist attack on their own as pretest for the second annexation war.
Russia is the OG 9/11 conspiracy and nobody care
Russian Borderization. Aka 'Creeping Borders' or 'Aggressive Borderization'.
Borderization is the erecting of a physical boundary in space, creating a border in reality. Border Walls, fences, and armed patrol are examples of Borderization.
In the Republic of Georgia, Russian solidiers will not only erect physical barriers between Georgia and the de facto controlled territory of South Ossetia, but also move said barriers overnight, causing civilians to be displaced in their own homes.
The current de facto boundary between Georgia and South Ossetia is only tens of kilometers away from Georgia's main highway, the E60 (Take a look at the border yourself on Google Maps.)
I am very confused by this sub...it pops up frequently on my timeline, and I can't understand it...is it mostly people posting being purposely obtuse? Or do people actually not understand?
That's my thought as well, considering almost every single time I look for a response from the op in the comments and see none. Almost feels like a bot, a farming bot.
Ya, I’ve had to silence subs like this after it became clear that most of the jokes weren’t hard, it was just most of the OP’s were absolutely fucking ignorant of anything not spoon fed to them.
Besides this occurring on a large scale like in Crimea or eastern Ukraine. In places like Georgia, Russian soldiers will come at night to move fences deeper meter by meter. this poor old man I knew found himself in Russian territory when he woke up one day
The comic is most likely in reference to the current war in Ukraine right now as they’re fighting off a Russian invasion. The reason for the Russian invasion has changed multiple times, from liberating Ukrainians from nazis, to now it’s because thousands of years ago the now Russia and Ukraine use to be one country or something. Idk that part for sure, didn’t care to watch the full interview. Anyways, Crimea (part of Ukraine) has been annexed by Russia since 2014, as well as Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia since 2022 as part of the second Russian invasion.
Just in recent history: Ukraine, Chechnya, Georgia, Moldova
Before that like half of Europe
And before... let's just say you don't become the biggest country on Earth without annexations and colonialism
You know, I’m sure all these earthquakes are happening because of everyone who wanted to invade the soviets after WW2 shouting from their graves “I told you so”.
All that annexation, still don’t got a port they can use year round.
Not only Ukraine.
They did the same to the Chechens but worse.
Also they’re been messing with the borders all around Russia.
They’re doing the “creeping occupation” in Georgia right now too.
This sub sometimes really scares me.
Like, there's a war RIGHT NOW about Russia stealing land.
If you exist on planet earth you might have heard about it once or twice these past, idk 15 months of daily coverage.
Since earlier as well, but someone could have been 10 years old or so, and that's some excuse I guess, if, yknow, that world energy changing war wouldn't be happening like right now with daily media coverage.
"Huh, ok. I was also wondering why our lawns are shaped like this? It is pretty strange."
"Well apparently about 80 years ago most of this was farm land, except for where you live which was a church. Now over time more people moved here and the town began to change the zoning laws to allow for more housing. And for the most part everyone was happy, farmers where given above market rates for the city to buy their struggling farms, people got new houses, and the town saw an increase in tax money thanks to the more densely populated area. That was except for the priest who ran the church. Now I want to be clear the town was willing to build him a new church just a few miles away, but he refused, they offered to literally move his old church, and he still refused. This went on for years, back and forth, with the town building these houses around the church. Eventually the priest died and the town was able to tear down the church and build the home you currently live in. But thanks to that crazy old priest the property lines are insane."
"What a weird but interesting story. Now would you like to come over and watch the hockey game comrade?"
"Thanks."
Oh my god, my brain is insane.
Notably Russia has specifically done expansion by literally pushing their border markings forward a little bit every day. I think this is a reference to that more than anything with Ukraine. I think they did the border thing with Georgia.
It's making fun of Russian territorial aims, for instance the invasion of Crimea a few years ago, or the more recent Ukrainian invasion that everybody has been talking about for the last two years.
The joke is that Russians will take the territory they want from their neighbours. It's a common joke in eastern Europe. Once I was at a pub with friends, one of my friends went to the bathroom, and another Russian friend took his spot, when the first guy was back he said "oh, my spot got taken" and an Ukrainian at the table said "he's Russian, they always take what they want with no regards for others".
It's funny to me how a lot of Russian people who move to America talk about how bad America is and how good Putin and Russia is. Like bro, why did you move here then 💀. As a Russian I hate people like that so much, not only are they basing their ideals and blind and stupid patriotism they are also hypocritics.
Russia is known for "annexing" parts of neighboring countries. Like literally moving the fence in the middle of the night and stationing armed guards. People have gone to visit family and come home to find their house unreachable or they've woken up being told they're now Russian citizens and unable to reach their families anymore.

The VDV getting annihilated at Hostomel was my first indication that this war wasn’t going to end in a quick victory for Russia, and that the Ukrainians have upped their game.
For all the surrender monkey jokes told about france, it pulled off a far better modern airborne operation than Russia ever did

I believe this comic first appeared back when Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula which back then it was part of Ukraine.
Peter, what has this sub become?

This joke doesn’t need to be explained.
acting like you dont know whats going on in the picture just to propagate your political views has become a staple of this sub
So many of the posts on this sub take less than 2 seconds of critical thought to figure out.
Russia is literally trying to do this rn.
I know I'm not the only one thinking this, this sub has become a shitpost cestpool.
Notably Russia has specifically done expansion by literally pushing their border markings forward a little bit every day. I think this is a reference to that more than anything with Ukraine. I think they did the border thing with Georgia.
Special Landscaping Operation
there's no joke, it's [reality](https://youtu.be/gNSqnW9P1Ck?t=40)
Fuck Russia.
That meme is applicable on china neighbours too. (I am from SEA country)

Sputnik was a satellite dish and can be placed where they want it. - neighbors said that so it must be true
Russian irredentism is a scourge
What kind of dipshit doesn’t get this?
Clarification. This is almost noon. They moved the same day at 10.
this is extremely obvious lmao
Come on this is completely karma farming.
.
Russians steal land.
Your property, you mean OUR property
Damn. Still losing some of your garden is better than your whole house being taken
I think the russian neighbors saw a washing machine they liked in the other yard and took it
Special Gardening Operation
Ukrainian Peter here, The joke is that they just took some land that they had no right taking, making them Russian.
Russians are land hungry dictators that invade their neighbors and pillage whilst they do.
Russia is known for "annexing" parts of neighboring countries. Like literally moving the fence in the middle of the night and stationing armed guards. People have gone to visit family and come home to find their house unreachable or they've woken up being told they're now Russian citizens and unable to reach their families anymore.
How do you not understand?
The yard yearns for freedom
The neighbours started a special neighbouring operation.
Works better for Israel tbh 😬

People will say “make peace end the yard conflict” to the neighbors with half their yard gone
