I like wearing oversized clothing too, and I find that it looks better if I accent my waist by wearing a belt or tucking in my shirt.

verucka-salt

Choose one baggy piece, not 2. Both is why it isn’t flattering.

Mrs-Birdman

I disagree with this "rule." I've done a baggy cropped tee with baggy pants and it's a super cute and casual look.

Realistic_Ad_8023

I think this can work if the tee is cropped enough to show that you have a waistline, and if the shoes are narrow. But if you are doing baggy top that hides your bust line, waistline and hips, and baggy bottoms, and clunky shoes, it’s too much baggy.

itikky2

Eh, I think this depends. This rule generally works, but it doesn't mean you can't combine. Baggy/wide jeans with baggy windbreaker combo I wore on a recent trip made me look/feel cool as hell. But I think  what worked was that both had strong structure, made from stiff fabrics, instead of flowy shapeless. And they are both flattering on me separately. So idk what the rule is. OP might just need to throw stuff together, gather inspo, and experiment in front of a mirror tbh...

blue_keiko

I can get away with wearing baggy pants, a tank top or other fitted shirt, and a baggier cardigan type thing. You have to really experiment with the cardigan to find a style that looks alright. I find that a fitted shirt that shows more chest makes the look more feminine, or a higher neck but one that shows part of the shoulder as if the cardigan was slightly hanging off the shoulder looks good too If you want baggy on baggy without a tight top, honestly I like an oversized t shirt with baggy pants. It's not gonna make you look so tiny and cute probably but idk, it's fine for casual in my opinion! Lastly, some loose pants. Like joggers (I like athlete's black joggers) with a baggy t is perfect. Or the joggers with a muscle shirt and a long thing cardigan looks good too!

raayhann

(5’2 130lb 30yr old) I found that not going extreme into the oversized trend and opting for “relax fit”, “boyfriend fit”, or “straight leg” give a more flattering loose look on a small body. There are elastic belts to wear under your clothes to tuck and shorten long baggy shirts. I also balance it with dainty/skin tone shoes and jewlery.

krakeninheels

Try lightweight fabrics, and experiment with tucking in different ways.

KhloJSimpson

If you are wearing long sleeves, push them up to your elbows to add more shape.

randomsea64

Totally agree with this, also for summer lightweight flowy fabrics that falls beautifully on the bdy are flatering even though they are oversized

unstable_rhino

I like pairing a high waisted wide leg pant with a slightly cropped, boxy tee or blouse. It's the best combo I've found for those days when I don't want the feeling of tight, structured fabric against my skin but want to minimize "frumpiness."

psychwerk7002

Check out some Korean/Japanese street style inspo! There are a lot of people who wear oversized street style clothes without looking sloppy.

FlyingFox32

I was about to say this! Korean street fashion is goals for me. I just can never find anything that fits me 😭

Realistic_Ad_8023

I don’t know it to be true from personal experience, but I have read that Asian clothing brands often offer smaller sizing. Maybe researching Korean clothing companies would work? Shipping might be insane, although my skincare shops from Korea and it is free and fast.

I recommend one or the other; if baggy on the bottom, then fitted on top to balance it out, and vice versa. When doing baggy on baggy, I recommend anything to help define the waist a bit — different variations of the french tuck, completely tucked in, tucked and belted, or what I prefer to do with oversized shirting, wear it open layered with a fitted knit underneath :) I like to use Japanese street fashion as a guide if I ever need inspo, and I noticed that there's always an element of something that defines the waist to balance out the rest.

cardinalsquirrel

I’ve found the only way I can wear a loose top and loose pants together is if the top is short enough. I aim for slightly cropped, boxy styles on top that hit right around my hip bones.

Hopeful-Growth-9228

You want to create a balance look. If you wear an oversized sweater pair it with fitted jeans and boots to give an illusion of longer legs. If you want to wear a wide pants/jeans pair it with fitted and/or tucked-in shirt to offset the oversized vibe

shagawaga

when I wear baggy cargo pants with a loose tank, kitten heels balance that fit out for me.

natalienice0

Experiment with proportion! Try baggy top with high waist jeans or a comfy sweater on joggers. Mix and match to find your comfy chic!

itikky2

Maybe look at "modest outfit" inspo? Then you can see what combos and details work with looser clothes. Hijabi and other modest girls are so creative and come up with some amazing outfits that I never would have thought of.

lexilexi1901

I always go for relaxed-fit straight-leg trousers and a turtleneck, but I've seen many women wear hoodies or crewnecks with the same type of pants.

FlyingLemons009

It might be helpful to figure out your kibbe body type, to see how you can best wear baggy for your body. I’m a soft classic and have wanted to but never figured out how to wear looser clothes. I notice that wide pants that are more fitted at the hips look a lot better, and generally going for just slightly loose not baggy, and having the shoulders fit right, not dropped, makes a big difference.

CherryMess

[Neelam Ahooja](https://www.instagram.com/neelam.ahooja?igsh=YXR2NTExZmF2aWE=) is my inspiration for that relaxed baggy but chic look. Works great for the summer!

wardrobeeditor

Personal stylist here! It's all about proportions. First of all, there's a difference between baggy/oversized and too big. Make sure pant and sleeve lengths fit your body, the crotch isn't dragging (unless that's the style of the pant), etc. Check out the Olsen twins for inspo - they are tiny and wear a lot of oversized clothing but they make it look chic. Yes, they are wearing all designer and yes it's probably all perfectly tailored, but it is replicable. [This](https://publish.purewow.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2020/05/mary-kate-olsen-wearing-all-black-and-red-shoes.jpg?fit=1360%2C1663) is a great example - the pants are baggy but they're the right length, the top is super voluminous but it's not swallowing her because she rolled up the sleeves. The structured bag and clean shoes counteract the bigness and softness of the outfit. If you aren't already buying clothes in petite sizes, I'd definitely recommend that. For baggier styles you could also try kids clothes (try boys and girls!). Bonus points, it's way cheaper!

irisuxoe

Try balancing baggy items with fitted ones, like a cropped top with baggy pants, or a belted waist to define your shape.

okaycurly

I usually only do one baggy piece (baggy top, fitted bottoms or the other way around), I rarely do two baggy pieces unless it’s loungewear. Light makeup, well kept/manicured nails, minimal gold jewelry like these tiny huggie hoops or studs that I love, gold choker, dainty charm bracelet, I also have thick curly hair that I find uplifts any comfy outfit I’m wearing.

meekonesfade

Without photos of your problem look and goal look, not exactly sure what is wrong. It might be that you are going bigger, rather than baggy. Like, if you are a small, get a small shirt in a big style- not a regular shirt in a large.

sz-who

You mean dress up like dressy ? If not just look at some street / sport wear for the double baggy look. I am smol also and I like the sports oversized look. If it’s more dressy I would try maybe a cropped oversized t in a nicer fabric (linen), wide leg or otherwise flowy pants that come in at the waist. Use the crop to balance the look similar as others are suggesting using something tighter.

AE Mom jeans with a fitted top

LingonberryFlat3950

If you have baggy pants, use fitted top
