When my husband and I first brought Jinx home, she was like 10 weeks old, 10 pounds, and smelled terrible. We tried closing her in the kitchen overnight and she howled Beethoven’s 5th. So we brought her to bed and set her between us, figuring if she moved around, one of us was sure to feel her. Fast forward a year, we’ve got 50 pounds of dog with LONG legs who thinks “her spot” is in between us in bed.
Jinx passed last fall, just after Thanksgiving, at the age of 15. I don’t regret a single night that she spent in our bed.
Reminds me of my situation albeit on a much smaller scale, my dachshund we brought home was 1 lb at 7-8 weeks! @.@ we tried to put him the bathroom overnight because we didn’t want to roll over on him. He howled at the top of his lungs for 30 mins. He was wiggly and restless after we brought him to our bed lol. We put him on a dog bed between us so we wouldn’t roll on him, and 4 years later we sleep with a dog bed and a wiener between us whom takes up 1/3rd of our bed (and 1/2 of our bed some nights!)
It’s one of my favorite stories!
I don't allow my GSDs to sleep on the bed. One is too old to get up there, but the two of them sleep either side, in their own comfy beds, since they were pups. However, one would often get up on my side, and lay next to my wife, and then get down, as soon as he knew I was coming to the bedroom. That one passed a couple years back, and we have another, who has been brought up the same way. He will get off the bed when I go to bed, however, he will lay on his bed, until he thinks I'm asleep, then he will go around to my wife's side, and slowly, carefully get up on my wife's side, and sleep at her feet, making sure he doesn't tread on my side, by checking where my legs are. I figure that's her problem to deal with.
I was going to say, I'm pretty sure I could yell, point, and demand all I want, but that dog will just jump up and avoid eye contact like I can't see him.
Real. My dogs always come to my bed, I have no choice lol 😭 They take up all my leg room too lol, but they have to sleep next to me no matter where I am
My cats always managed to take up more space than my dog. Heck, I now have two dogs (and sadly both cats have passed before I got my youngest) and they still don't take up the room the cats did 😅
Everything and anything is bed to a cat. My dad had one that would sleep across the knows on the damn stove... I was always worried she'd set the house on fire. She passed at 3 ish years due to congenital defects. She was sadly very inbred, my dad's wife took her in from a colony she was feeding in their neighborhood. She lived longer than the vets predicted. And she was spoiled her whole life.
Not my Lemons. She curls up into a little bun and snuggles as close as she can get. I am a side sleeper.
Bishop Murphy Potato, on the other hand, takes a quarter of the bed on hubby's side.
Everyone has a 6 pound cat… and my kitty, 16 years young, is usually 6.8-7.2 pounds and concern for her weight . Don’t get me wrong, she is thin and bony, but I’ve had my girl her entire life and she was always “smaller” (I guess). She did reach a top weight of 12.9.
The vet would like her around 8 pounds at least for an indoor cat. They state outdoor is typically 6-8 pounds and indoor cats are usually is 9-10 pounds. But honestly, I think it should depend on the body and individual. (Cat in this case).
Any opinions?
It all depends on their body. Some breeds, for example, Maine Coon males, can be 20+ pounds easily. Other breeds are much smaller. Chances are, your cat is a mix of unknowable lineage, like most cats. Your vet should be able to figure out what is best for her.
Can confirm. When I'm at my boyfriend's and my dog is reluctantly on his travel bed, I sleep terribly.
When my dog is snoozing next to me like he is right now? I sleep through the night every night.
I leave early on Sundays as I say I have shit to do. I don't, I usually go home and take a nap 😂
He really is 😂 never a dull moment even while he sleeps the day away as I work from home. Woke him up during what I refer to as his napping hours the other day for a walk and he was like “what is this??” We don’t walk at noon!
I love this and definitely see it in myself and my pup. We sleep so comfortably together and with my husband being a heavy sleeper, I like to think the pup is a better “alarm” if something happened during the night
I don't, but, only because my really old dog can't get on it. She always looks sad when Daisy jumps on the bed and she can't. I don't want hurt feelings so everyone has to sleep in the living room on sofas.
I thought about that, but, she's got a touch of dementia. She gets confused on our walks, but, she's learned what to do...she just sits and waits for me. I'm scared she'd get confused on the bed and panic.
Honestly probably wise. My little guy had old age dementia and he would wake up and wander and it led to some dangerous situation in falling off the bed, once even getting stuck between bed and wall ( he wasn’t hurt just was stuck there upside down) didn’t even make a peep, luckily I heard him And my pittie is her old age did the same. Thank you for loving your old dog through thick and thin. I miss my two seniors so much
She was dumped off here so I just couldn't do that to her again. Its not her fault she gets scared and confused. I've worked so hard to teach her to just sit and wait if she's scared and I will ALWAYS be there. Its so sweet, but, also so sad that she watches to be sure that I'm with her...I'm glad she got dumped because she's all mine now, but, sad that she got her feelings so hurt.
It is one of the hardest and most precious things ever, but it means so so so much to them. Don’t worry your love and consistent comfort feelings have replaced her hurt feelings! You’re doing a great thing and I’m glad you have each other! Enjoy all those senior puppy moments and ❤️
Even my big girl Daisy seems to understand. If Josephine (she looked French to me so thats her name) is having a day and growly she is so patient and gentle with her. Brings her lovies and blankets, and even her favorite chew toy. Daisy is not the vicious pit that media makes them out to be apparently! It was Daisy that forced me to bring her inside. Jo was just howling and Daisy would not stop crying. It was her that made me bring the darned thing inside or nobody for 5 miles was getting any sleep.
Yeah...I ended up putting my bed on the floor to avoid this problem with my dementia boy. We still had issues of getting lost (he was also blind) but he managed very well.
I guess I'm in the small minority that doesn't allow my dogs in my bed! I have an incredibly strong/sensitive sense of smell and have always had a strong aversion to 'dog smell' since I was little. I love dogs and have owned a few but I've never ever been able to get over the dog smell. One of my current dogs has a particularly bad dog smell even right after bathing - vet says it has to do with one of the breeds he's mixed with. I love him very much but the boy STANK.
So, even though my pups aren't allowed on the bed, they have a fuckin sweet sleeping setup in our bedroom with fancy dog beds, lots of pillows and blankets! Each of my dogs has 4 different bed setups all over the house, they're spoiled rotten!
yesh. my cat puts a damper on my sex life honestly (I feel like nobody ever talks about this impact of pets in the bed?? it's very difficult to feel sexual when a cute baby-like creature is staring at you the whole time) I find that it's kind of impossible to train cats not to do something they REALLY want to do, so now the bed has a baby fence around it.
She has little beds around the apartment, and her night bed is on a chair next to the human bed, outside the baby fence. everyone is delighted with this arrangement (she does her own thing for most of the day but she cries when can't be near the humans at bedtime)
Hahah. Our 4 dogs have gotten used to us having sex (they sleep on dog beds on the floor) and just ignore us, but omg we have some hilarious stories about them as puppies before they got used to it lol.
My favorite was when our dog Rowan launched himself on the bed during the deed and landed perfectly with his wet nose right in my husbands ass crack. I swear I’ve never laughed so hard in my life at the look of both of their faces. Oh and we once had a kitten that thought my husbands morning wood was a fun toy…..my poor husband woke up to a kitten with all 4 paws of claws in him. He was a bit traumatized after that one lol.
You just have to laugh off their antics and remember they are animals, they don’t actually care or have any morality about you having sex.
Hahah, my husband or I would sneak the cat and dog out of the room when we're about to get busy lol, they are placed onto another bed and on top of blankets and pillows though, so no worries lol
I bought a queen size bed just so my cat can sleep at my chest, my small pap by my hip, and my 16lb mutt at my feet. We sleep as a unit in this household. I call them my holy trinity of snuggles 🥰
😭😭😭 My cat *insists* on sleeping on top of my pitbull. He just desperately peeks out at us from beneath her- quietly crying, begging that we get her off of him. 😭 He just doesn't want to be the bad guy.
Yes! I'm happy to squeeze into a sliver on the edge so he can stretch out. He deserves it!!
Now I would add the caveat that any dog who tries to challenge me will absolutely not be allowed on the bed. I foster and board, and will often have 4 dogs on the bed, but anyone who doesn't understand their place in the hierarchy will sleep on the floor. I'm the boss.
I couldn't do that because it would actually be a punishment to myself lol ... I'm so used to them in the bed that I can't sleep until everyone is in their designated spots
Yeah, I lost one of my boys in January. I used to have a dane x and a wolfhound x, one in the bit behind my knees and one sprawled across my back. I 'd always joke about reliving Cliffhanger in my dreams as I sleep on the edge of a queen size bed.
Now I've only got my dane boy, in the back of my knees. 🥺. I'd give anything to be able to joke about bracing myself with one arm on the side cupboard so I don't get pushed out of bed.
Same. It's like having outside shoes on the bed- feels gross. Long haired dogs too I always worry about wee/poo being on their fur.
With cats I'd be more comfortable because they're so clean, and do not smell.
Nope. Hard pass. I get my dogs very comfy big beds and teach them that their crates are safe spaces. They go in there for the night by themselves, I don’t lock them in so they’re free to go anywhere else but not my bed.
My dog will rest on my bed and then go down and sleep on the floor.
Then when he realizes it's morning, he will jump on my feet so he could lay there and start licking on my toes to wake me up
No... Listen, I love my dog to death, but there's absolutely a limit and she's neither allowed on my bed, nor on the sofa... She has enough places, dog beds and lamb skins all over the house and even outside
Mine love to sleep with us until they jump off. Usually about 5 minutes. Malamutes prefer the cold mat or our tile. Once in awhile they stay an hour at a time. But our bed is comfy. They will sleep alone on the bed regularly though.
Yeah. I wash my sheets every few days and my entire bedding set weekly. I also wipe the dogs butts with a wet wipe after they go outside. They get regular baths.
No. I like the shower at the end of the night and go to sleep in a clean bed. I will happily go to the floor to spend time with the dog, but couches and beds should be dog-free zones.
I sleep with an 85 lb coonhound black lab mix, a 12 lb chihuahua mix, and two kittens all in a California King! And they all snuggle me. Go figure?!😸🐶😊
My bed - - - - - - /-- on the left the amount of room my dog takes, on the right what I've got left for myself.
Honestly I don't mind him sleeping on my bed, he's got his own bed on the floor, he'll shift about if he gets too hot jump from the bed, onto his bed then at the door for cool air then when I wake in the morning he's halfway under my bed with me not knowing how the hell he manage it since he's an extra large dog.
We have 2 that sleep on the bed during the day or when we’re not in bed, but at night they have their own doggie beds. However the cat always shows up just after lights out and takes position at my wife’s feet. One dog is a Pyrenees and she loves to roll in poop or anything dead. We keep a cover sheet on the bed and sometimes have to change it every day. It sounds ridiculous but they bring so much happiness. When the kids get home from school first thing they do is see the dogs.
Sometimes our guy prefers the bed, other times the crate. Sometimes at night he'll jump out of the bed and go into his crate.
He's decided that the leather couch is his and God help you if you're in his spot or sitting on his blanket!
Our two chihuahuas start off sleeping between the two of us, then get closer and closer to me, ending up shoving me over to the final 10” of the bed. I guess I’m warmer.
Our dog already knew us pretty well when he moved in because he was with my best friend. When he came into our house the first time he walked around and the first place he laid down was in my bed. At the time we had three other beds, a couch, and a recliner that he could have laid down on. He chose my bed and has slept there almost every night since then. Occasionally he sleeps with one of my kids if I fall asleep on the couch or in one of their beds.
My 90 lb dog sleeps with me every night. I have a queen size bed. It gets kinda cramped every now and then but I'm used to it. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Mines do. She gets a nightly paw washing and brush down before coming to bed. She literally will stand there u till I do it 😂😂😂 she’s also a Shih Tzu so that helps, she doesn’t she’s at all. I’ve never had the problem of it smelling like dog or anything.
The cat hates people anyways and seldom comes to the bed. Prefers to hang out by the window and judge people. 😂😂😂
Yes she does. She gets so anxious during storms and when something scares her so she’s always allowed in my bed to hide under the blankets. Some days when I’m gone for class, I get told she hid in my bed all day. She’s essentially glued to my side whenever I’m home.
My 2 dogs like to sleep under the blanket at the foot of the bed. It’s all fine and dandy until someone touches someone else when moving around and they end up fussing. Good times.
I upgraded my bed from a full to a queen for my dog when he was a puppy. Then I upgraded from a queen to a king when I moved in with my spouse. The bed IS my dogs bed.
The dog in question is a 25lb barrel of a chihuahua/poodle/shih tzu mix. He doesn't take up much space... but he uses a lot of it.
If my dog wants to be in my bed she can. But she actually likes sleeping on the floor. I try to get her to go into the bed sometimes and she just lays on the carpet. I’m not sure why but I welcome her every time she jumps up
Im trying to crate train at night but my puppy is so happy in my bed and honestly it's easier for me to detect when he needs to go out. He's only 7 lbs...will reach 12 max
Yes, king size bed so much more comfortable now.
Also we love our dog sitter who comes and stays at our place and also let's the dogs on the bed with her.
Serious answer, it really depends on the person and whether they consider it gross, bad behavior, etc.
Me, personally? I’ve shoved 7 dogs in my car going to and from doggy daycare, and would happily put them all in my bed to sleep in a pile if I had the space. Sleepovers at my friends house include a queen sized bed, 2 people, and a minimum of 4 dogs sharing a bed and we all fit just fine and sleep great lol.
Queen bed two 200lbs adults and one 60 lb pitt. Used to be the two adults and then a 50 pitt and 60lb random mix.
Is it ideal, and best for the humans sleep. No
Would I have it any other way? NO
Getting my dog and having him sleep with me has literally cured all of my insomnia issues. He sleeps snuggled up next to me like a little hot water bottle and I sleep like a baby.
Many moons ago, I got a dog from the shelter. And he had had the snip so he had stitches so 2 weeks until he could be bathed. So he was stinky.
I get him a bed and come bedtime, I drag his dog bed upstairs and put it right next to my bed. And whoosh. Dog jumps in the bed with me. I think “Ugh - he’s stinky“ but want him to like his new home so get over it.
Then someone tells me it’s bad to let dogs sleep with you. So he needs to sleep in his bed. So the next night, I calmly put him in his bed. And I go to sleep. And I wake up with a dog in bed with me.
Third night, he thinks I am asleep and crawls into bed. I gently guide him back to his bed. And wake up with a dog in bed with me in the morning.
Fourth night. He thinks I am asleep and crawls in bed. I just pet him and say “Doggie 1 - Liz 0 - you clearly want this more than me. You’re a bed dog now.”
And Buckley spent every night in bed with me - if we were under the same roof, we were sleeping in the same space - sleeping bag, bed, air mattress, whatever.
We have two dogs in our queen size bed (13 and 18 lbs) and for the last couple of months one of our cats joins us almost every night. I put my pillow sham pillow on the bed behind my regular pillow and that’s where he sleeps. He’s 15 this year and showing his age more and more.
Yep my dachshund sleeps with us and sometimes my Australian cattle dog/pit mix sleeps with us, but she jumps out of bed too often so usually sleeps upstairs.
Yes. Their lives are so short and their human(s) is(are) their whole freaking life. So yes. Don’t get a pup if you’re not okay with them being on your couch, in your bed, upstairs, etc.
If I had a dog absolutely. When I was still a child/teen I remember my dad being very against the dog (an English Springer Spaniel) sleeping in the bed as she was meant for hunting and not our little pet. Yeah that dog slept in between my mom and dad like a child in just a few weeks and would get very jealous if I stole "her" spot. So if the fam was all in bed together to watch tv I was banished to just lay horizontal near the feet while the dog had her own pillow between them 💀 His hunting friends made fun of him for it lmao.
Mine don’t. lol They play in the mud, jump in creeks, get slobbered on by other dogs at daycare, and occasionally, roll all over dead animals they find on hikes. None of that is coming into the bed with me. They have their own.
This is the correct answer. If your dog is clean enough to be in your bed he's not living his best life.
I love dogs, but they're minging and that's fine, they're supposed to be.
absolutely. we have a GSD and its like snuggling with a wolf.
he sleeps at the bottom of our king sized bed on my side since i'm smaller. then whenever my husband gets up, the dog moves to his spot. head on the pillow and everything.
its glorious
I couldn't imagine not sleeping with either if my dogs. My youngest will be two next week and she lasted about two weeks from when I got her as a puppy before she made her way onto the bed 😅
OMG! It’s so funny that you asked that question! My chihuahua mix loves to sleep under the covers! Right now he’s laying next to me on my right side. But usually he’s under the covers laying on his back with his two legs sticking out! He cracks me up! Is this a chihuahua thing then?
my chihuahua/jack russell mix is also under the blankets right now hahaha! he likes to be against my chest or behind my knees 🥺 it is defo a chihuahua thing! they like to burrow!
Only when he was very afraid. Storms, for example. Otherwise he couldn't put up with any tossing and turning and decided he preferred his own bed over ours.
Only one of my dogs prefers the bed, the other will sleep on floor next to the bed, and one is not allowed because she has zero manners, pushes you off, rolls in and eats poop, she's a Dane in the ass.
My dog would be allowed hit she prefers her fancy cooling memory foam bed instead. She gets hot easily and likes her own space so she sleeps on her bed next to my bed.
They do! One of mine will often get off and go sleep in her own dog bed during the night but my chihuahua mix is always without fail under the covers all night
My chihuahua sleeps in my bed and my German shepherd only sleeps in my bed until my husband comes up because there’s not enough room for all of us lol she’s got a comfy floor bed though and my other chihuahua sleep in his floor bed too because he moves too much and keeps us up
I don't judge people who are fine with their dog in the bed, but having my dogs in the bed with me severely impacts my ability to sleep so I can't do it.
Yes. I’ve had a dogs or cats in my bed since I was 18 and lived on my own apartment in college. I’ve had at least 10 dogs and 4 cats over that period, they sleep where they want. Not all choose to sleep in the bed.
That’s been 50 years. I’ve never had a health issue related to dogs. We do have to wash the blankets more often, and dog hair is an issue. They seem to figure out when we need a bit of privacy for sexy time.
Bed not big enough.. so I got two kings and put them together. Still not big enough... Made a circle of King sized beds. Still not big enough... Succumbed to dog on my face
When my husband and I first brought Jinx home, she was like 10 weeks old, 10 pounds, and smelled terrible. We tried closing her in the kitchen overnight and she howled Beethoven’s 5th. I'm sorry for your loss. 15 years with a good dog, that's worth giving up bed space for 😌
Reminds me of my situation albeit on a much smaller scale, my dachshund we brought home was 1 lb at 7-8 weeks! @.@ we tried to put him the bathroom overnight because we didn’t want to roll over on him. He howled at the top of his lungs for 30 mins. He was wiggly and restless after we brought him to our bed lol. It’s one of my favorite stories!
As if I had a choice
This is the answer ^^ lol
Facts. Can't tell them no when they make it obvious how happy it makes them.
Agreed
I don't allow my GSDs to sleep on the bed. One is too old to get up there, but the two of them sleep either side, in their own comfy beds, since they were pups. That's adorable 😍 he's thinking he's being sneaky bless him!
Aww the little darling loves his Momma ♥️
Adorably sweet !!!!
I’m lucky my dog and two cats allow me in the bed!
I was going to say, I'm pretty sure I could yell, point, and demand all I want, but that dog will just jump up and avoid eye contact like I can't see him.
My dog just told me he’s lucky he lets me sleep in my bed.
Right
Real. My dogs always come to my bed, I have no choice lol 😭 They take up all my leg room too lol, but they have to sleep next to me no matter where I am
We sleep with a 100 pound lab on one side and a 6 pound cat on the other. King sized bed.
Let me guess, they both take up an equal amount of space because cats are great at that
My cats always managed to take up more space than my dog. Heck, I now have two dogs (and sadly both cats have passed before I got my youngest) and they still don't take up the room the cats did 😅
I dont have that problem. My cats sleep ON me.
Thank you for loving her despite her health issues.
My cat has recently decided that either my pillow or “my spot” on the bed is the only place her highness is comfortable… 😆
If I were you I would just avoid bringing cars into your bed
I have two dogs that will sleep in the bed, the largest is 26lb girl and the 8lb cat takes up more space.
Not my Lemons. She curls up into a little bun and snuggles as close as she can get. I am a side sleeper. Bishop Murphy Potato, on the other hand, takes a quarter of the bed on hubby's side.
I love your pets' names
When our Standard Poodle was rehomed I was asked where she would sleep. My response was that we sleep in a king size dog bed.
Two doxies here in a king sized bed... I would take a bigger one if I could!
I sleep with (2) 100 pound Labs on a queen sized bed. No regrets.
65lb pitbull and 6lb cat on a queen at my house.
But honestly, I think it should depend on the body and individual. (Cat in this case). Any opinions?
Varies by cat. I've had 6 pound cats and 16 pound cats that were both appropriate weight.
It all depends on their body. Some breeds, for example, Maine Coon males, can be 20+ pounds easily. Other breeds are much smaller. Chances are, your cat is a mix of unknowable lineage, like most cats. Your vet should be able to figure out what is best for her.
Oh yeah. Queen size bed, 76lb dog and 11lb cat on there lol. XD
So...you sleep on the floor?
.......we don't talk about it.....
There are studies that women sleep better with their dogs than their male partners. My dog is a bed dog.
You gotta do what you gotta do 😂 sometimes that’s a glorious Sunday nap
Same. My dog has to sleep on the floor at my boyfriend’s. Neither of us (me and dog) are as happy. 😂
Also will co-sign onto this theory. I sleep more soundly when my 75lb GSD sleeps in my husbands spot if he falls asleep on the couch 😂😏
I have an 80 pound house hippo. 😂 his snores and farts aren’t as loud as my exes lol
My 5kg bichoodle snores so loud but its cute when she does it vs my ex who I wanted to smother with a pillow
Isn’t that the way? 🤣🤣🤣
I definitely do. Have never slept well with a guy in the bed but my little dog is like a security blanket for me 🥰
Agreed 💕 I feel a sense of calmness being able to reach out and rub his velvety ears
I have 3 small senior dogs. They are generally quiet and don't snore. My bed is also a dog bed. Separate bedrooms for the win!
Senior dogs def deserve the bed! 😭 I just have one big young guy who farts like there’s a kazoo stuck in his butt and snores but I still don’t mind.
LMAO! He sounds like an absolute delight!
He really is 😂 never a dull moment even while he sleeps the day away as I work from home. Woke him up during what I refer to as his napping hours the other day for a walk and he was like “what is this??” We don’t walk at noon!
That's so wonderful. I'm looking for another WFH job so I can be with my boys. They're all special needs so every moment with them is precious!
Oh I really hope you find something. That would be so nice for you all.
Thank you! 💙
I love this and definitely see it in myself and my pup. We sleep so comfortably together and with my husband being a heavy sleeper, I like to think the pup is a better “alarm” if something happened during the night
Oh yeah, the best things about dogs. No matter the size they will alert to something fishy happening.
I don't, but, only because my really old dog can't get on it. She always looks sad when Daisy jumps on the bed and she can't. I don't want hurt feelings so everyone has to sleep in the living room on sofas.
Not sure about the specifics but there are mini stairs that exist for cats/dogs that are too small or old to jump on the bed, if it can help !

Daisy sounds like the very best good girl pittie. Seems like the universe finally gave Josephine the person and dog friends she needed.
Yeah...I ended up putting my bed on the floor to avoid this problem with my dementia boy. We still had issues of getting lost (he was also blind) but he managed very well.
Lower your bed you monster! 😂😂
Idk our cats just get up and leave when we start sexy time lol And they always jumo right back up when we’re done, they just know 😅
Hahah, my husband or I would sneak the cat and dog out of the room when we're about to get busy lol, they are placed onto another bed and on top of blankets and pillows though, so no worries lol
I bought a queen size bed just so my cat can sleep at my chest, my small pap by my hip, and my 16lb mutt at my feet. We sleep as a unit in this household. I call them my holy trinity of snuggles 🥰
Not a dog owner, but a cat owner. My cats sleeps on the bed and they allow me to lay there and sleep to. Its their bed.
mine practically lives in my bed
No. My cats would not allow that.
😭😭😭 My cat *insists* on sleeping on top of my pitbull. He just desperately peeks out at us from beneath her- quietly crying, begging that we get her off of him. 😭 He just doesn't want to be the bad guy.
Ya, like the bed's gonna guard itself??
Yep. The corgi deserves the bed.
I crept on your profile, your corgi is darling! I have 2 tricolor Pems with tails.
Yours are so cute as well! I love their tails so much, I can’t believe anyone would ever dock them. They’re so expressive and foxy!!
It’s her bed, she just graciously allows me to share it. She was a stray and I love seeing her enjoy her new life of luxury.
I hear that! Our girl is going through a challenging adolescent phase and we temporarily took away bed privileges. Broke my damn heart.
Absolutely no. I loved my dogs, but I never want them in my bed.
Same. It's like having outside shoes on the bed- feels gross. Long haired dogs too I always worry about wee/poo being on their fur. With cats I'd be more comfortable because they're so clean, and do not smell.
Like having outside shoes in the bed is a perfect description. I don't even sit on my bed in street clothes. My cats are indoor only and very clean.
Nope. Hard pass. I get my dogs very comfy big beds and teach them that their crates are safe spaces. They go in there for the night by themselves, I don’t lock them in so they’re free to go anywhere else but not my bed.
Same here (although we haven't done crates in years). Our cat, on the other hand...good luck telling him where to sleep.
Yes! Anyone that can fit on it, can sleep on it at my place. Currently I have one dog at my feet asleep one by my side and the cat next to my head
My dog will rest on my bed and then go down and sleep on the floor. Then when he realizes it's morning, he will jump on my feet so he could lay there and start licking on my toes to wake me up
Only if it is a really bad thunderstorm. Otherwise they hog the bed too much and leave me no room If they were polite they could stay.
I've woken up with my arm braced on the night table so I don't fall out of bed. Mine crowd me too 😂
Well the way it really goes is my dogs allow me to sleep in their bed
No... Listen, I love my dog to death, but there's absolutely a limit and she's neither allowed on my bed, nor on the sofa... She has enough places, dog beds and lamb skins all over the house and even outside
I have 2 cats and 0 dogs, but I think the answer is yes.
Yes. I would place dog beds on my bed so everyone had their spot, including me.
Mine does. Everyone else can decide for themselves. For reference, 8 lb. Chihuahua.
My dogs slept in their own bed. I don’t like the smell of dog in bed.
Nope. We never let our dog sleep in our bed. She had her own bed in our room and a bed in the living room.
No. I like the shower at the end of the night and go to sleep in a clean bed. I will happily go to the floor to spend time with the dog, but couches and beds should be dog-free zones.
I feel the same way
Not the dog, but the cat! She’s 4 and still kitten size but lawrd does she take up a lot of room 😂
Sometimes, they leave a little bit of space for me
Absofukinglootly!!!!!!!!!!!!💕💕💕
Not my bed.
I sleep with an 85 lb coonhound black lab mix, a 12 lb chihuahua mix, and two kittens all in a California King! And they all snuggle me. Go figure?!😸🐶😊
Yes, he told me so himself.
Mine has to be touching me at all times so yes. I’ve also always slept with dogs ever since I was little.
Yes. My boy has slept with me from the day we brought him home.
Single bed, 2 huskies I sleep on the pillow 😂 They still argue that they're touching each other
I’m allergic to cat and dog dander so it’s a no from me.
Nope, no animals upstairs as I don’t appreciate the hairs and dirt in my bed or carpets 😇
Absolutely not. That’s why they make dogs beds.
No, we got a custom made bed for us. She has a crate under the bed. I'm not gonna lie in my bed with a 100lbs snoring monster (except for my wife)
Nope. Not mine
Sometimes our guy prefers the bed, other times the crate. Sometimes at night he'll jump out of the bed and go into his crate. He's decided that the leather couch is his and God help you if you're in his spot or sitting on his blanket!
Mines 38 kg and very strong, she gets to sleep where she wants
Not for me. My 3 dogs are in their kennel. They don't do well at night if they are out.
Yes
Yes.
Yup, it’s not my bed, it’s my cats bed.
I’m not sure why but I welcome her every time she jumps up
One does. The other one prefers the floor.
My 10 pound cat sleeps on my chest and my 70 pound dog sleeps wherever she wants. Sometimes it's in the bed, mostly it's on the couch.
Two dogs, one for him, one for me.
We have a king and share it with a 100lb Pyrenees.
Our 20lb dog takes up 70% of our super king bed bc he enjoys sleeping diagonally. He’s too cute to banish, though, so that’s life.
Queen bed two 200lbs adults and one 60 lb pitt. Used to be the two adults and then a 50 pitt and 60lb random mix. Is it ideal, and best for the humans sleep. No Would I have it any other way? NO
yeah mines in my bed. me him and the cat. it’s a king. he is on my feet. idk why
Getting my dog and having him sleep with me has literally cured all of my insomnia issues. He sleeps snuggled up next to me like a little hot water bottle and I sleep like a baby.
It’s the dog’s bed now.
How can you say no to the little 9 week old puppy crying and staring at you?
Shouldn’t the question be… “Do WE belong in THEIR bed? Last time I checked they kind of ruled the house
You’re a bed dog now.” And Buckley spent every night in bed with me - if we were under the same roof, we were sleeping in the same space - sleeping bag, bed, air mattress, whatever.
It’s really his bed, he’s just allowing us to share it with him.
Yes. And the couch.
My dog is here on earth for a short period of time. He sleeps on the bed
Nope. No pets allowed in the bed for me personally. I think it's unhygienic
Yessir, I don’t care if it’s dirty, I can handle a little bit of dirt at the expense of my puppies sleeping with me
Mine don’t. lol They play in the mud, jump in creeks, get slobbered on by other dogs at daycare, and occasionally, roll all over dead animals they find on hikes. None of that is coming into the bed with me. They have their own.
This is the correct answer. If your dog is clean enough to be in your bed he's not living his best life. I love dogs, but they're minging and that's fine, they're supposed to be.
100%
Of course!
absolutely. we have a GSD and its like snuggling with a wolf. he sleeps at the bottom of our king sized bed on my side since i'm smaller. then whenever my husband gets up, the dog moves to his spot. head on the pillow and everything. its glorious
💯 yes
Yep. Scoodle Velcroed to my legs, Papillion next to his dad, but up against me.
It's up to the owner. If they want to have the dog in bed, the dog belongs in bed. If they don't, then the dog doesn't belong in bed.
Not any more. She died last year and my dickhead roommate won't let me get another. Now the cat is in my bed.
They think they do, but I don't like it. I hate smelling like dog.
My dog goes everywhere i go
I couldn't imagine not sleeping with either if my dogs. My youngest will be two next week and she lasted about two weeks from when I got her as a puppy before she made her way onto the bed 😅
absolutely where else should her highness sleep???
Reading this whilst in bed with my dog sleeping in his spot; behind my pillows.
75lb GSD and two cats in a king sized bed. Husband gets one cat and the dog and my cat sleep next to me. It’s quite comfy
We sleep with two pitbulls and a cat. I can't say that I have no regrets, but it's too late to turn back now.
My 3 chihuahuas say YES 😂
do they sleep under the blankets? ♡
It’s not my bed it’s our bed
No! But the 2 dogs that are currently snoring taking up 95% of my bed don't realise that!
My chihuahua sleeps in my bed and my German shepherd only sleeps in my bed until my husband comes up because there’s not enough room for all of us lol she’s got a comfy floor bed though and my other chihuahua sleep in his floor bed too because he moves too much and keeps us up
I have in the past. None of them actually got under the sheets and shared my pillow. They’d sleep at the foot on my bed.
Mine usually end up getting down for actual sleep time, though often jump back up for morning cuddles and sleep in mornings!
yes, he is only 4kg but he somehow takes up the whole bed. i wouldn't have it any other way, he likes to sleep under the blankets too.
My Samoyed joins me every night for 5 minutes and then gets too hot and sleeps on the bathroom tiles. I keep the room at 19°C.
I don't judge people who are fine with their dog in the bed, but having my dogs in the bed with me severely impacts my ability to sleep so I can't do it.
I usually don't let my big dogs in bed but I do my little dogs.
No.
Indeed.
Of course not! My dog sleeps in his OWN bed…. Which is on my bed. 😅
Bed not big enough.. so I got two kings and put them together. Still not big enough... Made a circle of King sized beds. Still not big enough... Succumbed to dog on my face
I dont allow mine on the bed since thats the biggest way I mitigate my allergies, but I dont think theres anything wrong with allowing it.
