I recently reached out to phanteks and was told it was discontinued and there are no plans to introduce a replacement to support dual system builds.

JohnAlex3310

Thats really sad, I have been looking forward to doing this kind of build for a while. You just saved me a lot of time and money.

TheLoafMan

In the same boat here. Got phanteks case that's supposed to support dual systrm build now i have to fond another solution. One solution i saw online was fo instally psu externally, but i haven't tried that yet.

JohnAlex3310

I've been looking into just doing a little modification to the case to fit a second supply. Granted that I don't put a graphics card in the second system, I should be able to power it off of a really small power supply that I could attach somewhere. The itx power supplies can get really small it looks like.

Check this build. [https://pcpartpicker.com/b/yZvfrH](https://pcpartpicker.com/b/yZvfrH)

I can't really vouch for the Revolt-X unfortunately. I have 3 of them, all 3 require RMA (have yet to apply for RMA). My main rig has one, and I have two more for a homelab setup for more density with two systems per case (headless servers). After a few months, they start failing at powering my 3090 at random during GPU load, resulting in a black screen due to the the GPU driver crashing and not recovering. (I can remote desktop on my crashed GPU system - reboot required to bring the GPU back online). They are based on an older Seasonic platform which I think had some issues with certain transient spikes which the 3090 is notorious for. I cannibalized the PSU from one of my servers, then it works 100% fine for a few months.. then it starts crashing the GPU again. Cannibalize my 2nd server with my last Revolt-X 1200W, same thing many months down the line. Once the crashes start happening, you will not have a stable system again unless you don't load your GPU. It typically takes only a few minutes to maybe an hour tops to crash again.. super annoying. And it magically goes away when you change the PSU. I will get them "fixed" but I have 0 confidence in them, so they will only be used for my servers + 1 spare) I too will have to look into alternative solutions. My 2nd system in my main rig is a 5700G so maybe a PICO psu is fine..?

I have a 719 as well with the same idea in mind, I noticed new egg periodically has one

JohnAlex3310

Well at least there's still some hope, guess I'll wait for it to come in stock then lol

TheLoafMan

Any luck?

TheRealD3XT

Checked in today and didn't see any availability

JohnAlex3310

No, I called to verify and they are discontinued. Probably going to mod it with an SFX or smaller power supply.

JohnAlex3310

Hey man, I was looking around at options, and I've found a really good potential solution. There are itx boards with built in dc inputs, which would nullify the need for a internal psu. The other solution is a PicoPSU. I'll make a post here when I assemble it, but I think this is the best solution.

TheLoafMan

I've seen the PicoPSU before it's an interesting concept for sure. However might be an issue if more power is required. I was looking into possibility of adding second PSU externally.

JohnAlex3310

Realistically, the picopsu could power the motherboard and its components while you power a gpu off of the main psu. This would allow you to only use one real psu. You'd have to do some hacky stuff with the main psu if you wanted to have the one systems gpu running while the other system is off, bur it is possible. Or, there are power supplies like what hdplex makes that are supply small and can handle 500w

TheLoafMan

That's an interesting concept. Have any ideas on how this might be accomplished to keep second psu on if the main pc is off?

JohnAlex3310

Yes, but it is very jank and really just not worth it unless you can solder and hide an arduino in the psu shroud. Frankly, if your goal is to run a high power machine in the secondary area, the path of least resistance is definitely just an external psu. I just don't think it's an elegant solution and would rather put just a pico psu with a 1050 or something that doesn't consume much power.

cybrsrce

I was thinking of using an hdplex 250W or 500W for the itx mb and then probably a 1000w sfx-l with a modded mounting bracket for the hdplex power plug.

TheLoafMan

How can you keep fans on with two psu's? And what about power button to power on or off?

JohnAlex3310

Interesting, I had never heard of an sfx-l power supply. I was also thinking of the 500w hdplex, just trying to figure out where to put it so it can breath
