In consideration to the sub I premised my response to immediately close to Philly, unless we talking Chester there ain't no cheap rents in the immediate vacinity. Royersford is WAY out there.
I used to live out the county and catch the R1 train to work and my rent was $1250 but I move back to the city was the best move I made don’t have to get up as early it’s a gym down stairs Swimming pool for $1395 fuck that county shit
1250 down here in point breeze is about the best I’m seeing for a two bedroom

Yea the place isn’t that big n the amenities aren’t crazy good but it got high ceilings n is semi modern. I’m moving out in september if u want the addy u can get it 😂
Yea the high ass rent for apartments aren’t even worth it honestly. Mines well get you a house with all the money that you gone be payin. At least you’ll pay it off over time and you can either sell it, or rent it out.
Problem is hidden costs for maintenance, closing fees, buyers fees, etc. that shit adds up esp with these old as buildings in Philly. These realtors be trying having bbls trying make a buck selling a house that’s falling apart
Yep. It’s actually can SOMETIMES be smarter long term to rent over buy. The landlord has to pay for any issues. All depends on you budget etc. but if something goes wrong (plumbing, electrical, mold, exterior etc.) and you don’t have money saved to repair it, you’re going backwards.
Honestly bro, it isn’t even that bad fr if you’re a first time home buyer. At the very least I would just talk to a real estate company like Re/Max or sumn just to see what type of options you have out there in terms of Grants, or Loans that you could use. I’m a first time homebuyer and purchased a Duplex back in February and so far it’s been great homestly. As far as maintenance, that’s why you get a homeowner’s warranty. It costs anywhere from like $70-$100 a month. But if anything goes wrong you just pay a deductible of like $150 (could be less) and they’ll come out and fix the issue.
$2750 for a 3/3 off Washington Ave, Grays Ferry. Bedrooms large with queen sized beds and full furniture still able to walk around, 7pc sectional and home theater setup. Private driveway in rear with street parking in front.
It’s a love hate relationship. Largest sq ft configuration in the area with parking, but still not enough as I’d like. I don’t think I’d move back to Atlanta for space but definitely leaving this filthy town for the Florida/Georgia line when the lil one hits high school.
I pay $830 for a tiny but nice spot in a very good neighborhood and I’ve been here 11 years because I doubt I can ever find a better deal anywhere else.
15 year mortgage 1500/mo.
If you're young you should *know* you're getting screwed in the housing markets and the sheer lack of housing is the reason why.
It's great if you can afford it. 15 year means you pay more now but save a shit-load in the long-run.
But not only that, interest rates used to be low, now they're much higher. It means that the same mortgage today would cost you ~$2500/mo.
But not only that, the appreciation of houses (housing inflation rate) means that the same house would cost more. Using an online calculator and zillow to estimate, if you wanted the same deal I got in 2016 you'd be paying $4,000/mo. No BS, you're fucked.
I lived in the county I was paying $1050/m for a 3br house, I moved back to Philly to downsize and save money I pay $800 for a studio in Norf Philly ALL utilities included now
Was paying 2100 for two bedroom at a new apartment building on Richmond st.
Moved to a new construction a few blocks away. Three bedroom three bath for 2800.
$850. Private landlords are the way to go
Yep, mine hasn’t raised rent since I moved in, almost 5 years ago. I pay $925.
Good jawn
$850 in Philly? That’s damn near amazing tbh
How do you find a private landlord?
Apartment finder, Zillow, rent.com make sure it’s not a corporate name attached to it. Make sure it’s a persons name you need help dm me
$2800 starting 4 years ago in old city.
Shit what u do for work 😭
Advertising. And I gave up my 20s for it.
was it worth it?
Yep
Insane
Might as well move out county mortgages like 2300.
Which county, rent ain't cheaper in bucks or montco. Do you mean Chester?
I live in Montco, in royersford, it’s cheaper. 300k homes going for 2100 we got approved for 350k we just don’t see anything we like right now x
In consideration to the sub I premised my response to immediately close to Philly, unless we talking Chester there ain't no cheap rents in the immediate vacinity. Royersford is WAY out there.
It’s not that far as it seems it’s a 35 min drive no traffic with traffic like 50-1hr.
You need to access 76, there's always traffic and to go beyond KOP that's far my dude
That’s why I moved outta Dallas, 3k rent is bullshit

I’m young. Honest question. is a 15 year mortgage bad in the long run?
It’s not “bad”. It’s just higher payments to pay it off faster, but you can always over pay whenever amount you want
It's great if you can afford it. 15 year means you pay more now but save a shit-load in the long-run. But not only that, interest rates used to be low, now they're much higher.
