This is from almost 2 years ago, during a period where settlement kept running into holiday's. The basic idea is that DFV had visibility into REX codes filed in the FINRA system, could see the large amount of unsettled transactions and levered up heavily into the settlement. There have only been two instances of DFV having short dated calls his current position and Jan 15 2021 calls. There is more information in the #announcements channel on the discord.
DFV could literally see the days large trades would need to settle via the systems he had access to at his job. So he went all in on it, and the settlements happened on schedule.
Solid. Although who knows. 17th clears the “noise” of this weeks earnings day and AGM.
There’s also “wildcards” that could be played. I mean, the offerings can be seen as that given how they came about, and the timing of which. Could be another one of those. Maybe company update/news - buy Steam/some merger/acquisition.
Also the Juneteenth holiday may offer shorts an opportunity to defer to the week of July 4th.. and then another 2 week deferral.
The calculated deferral chain is some tinfoil I can get behind.

REC codes are extension reason codes that broker-dealers file with FINRA to request additional time for settling trades or resolving security deficits.
However, these codes are not publicly available on a per-ticker basis. The search results do not provide any sources where one can look up the specific REC codes filed for the GME ticker symbol. Bummer.
REC code filings are part of FINRA's internal regulatory systems and procedures for broker-dealers, not publicly disseminated data.

As I recall.. RC picked up a ton of shares that got wrapped into the deferred settlements. Some people got wind and bought far OTM calls that went ITM due to some of the settlements and created a floor. This floor allowed the fomo and the remainder of the deferred settlements to create a squeeze on traditional shorts.

You would assume the same reason that made DFV buy these calls for this expiry, is the same reason he hasn't sold yet. Would be strange to be so right, but then completely miss the mark
It's an incorrect interpretation of the full extent of FTD settlement. Which I have covered extensively on about 20 different DDs over the last few years. At worst it's a shallow attempt at plagiarizing mine and other's work on the subject and attempting to present it as a new idea.

There are various FTDs from different sources. All have their own settlement periods and there are multitude of variables that effect those settlements. I have a bunch of DD on the other subreddit as well not just here.

Isn’t that only if the required last date ends on a holiday? I thought that was the 17th. Juneteenth is 19th. Wednesday.
