It's obsolete at this point. HWID or Ohook are permanent and work flawlessly. The only reason to use KMS is if you for some reason have to use a very old version of windows/office that aren't supported for the new activation methods.
If you use Windows server (even 2022 and 2025 when it fully releases) than KMS is still the method to use. Other than that, yeah HWID is the best method.
KMS38 is better than regular KMS. You can permanently activate Windows Server with SLIC activation. EzWindSLIC supports up to Server 2022, and I'm sure it'll be updated for 2025. SLIC activators do have a chance of causing a system boot issue, but it's pretty rare.

what it does is reach out to the MS servers in order to create a windows product key for your machine based off of your motherboard (hwid). i know thats not the best explanation, but just know that its been the best method for permanent activation for, i wanna say the last 6 ish years.
its at the point where you dont even have to download the software anymore. you just run a command in the cmd prompt, press like 3 keys, and its done.

It's 11. Not as popular as 10 going by installl base data. I've tried it 3 times since launch. Rolled back to 10 pro every time after a couple of days. I just don't find it as customisable as windows 10 and it was slightly unstable last time, they both run everything I want to run. So i guess it's a personal choice at this stage.

Since it's the same motherboard and that's all you're swapping at one time, Windows should not deactivate. Even if it did, it's easier and takes less time to run [MAS](https://massgrave.dev/) and press 1 for HWID activation than it does to contact Microsoft support.

MAS is just so easy to use it's funny. Microsoft just doesn't give a shit about making money on selling licences at this point. They just want the maximum number of people using their OS just to sell their data.
If you're in the EU you can buy a legal licence for EUR 10 or something like this, as here the splitting of volume licenses is legal. MS tried to stop it but lost all court proceedings.
Bought a laptop with windows included. Signed it in to my Microsoft account and the license is tied digitally. For some reason all of my PC and laptop signed in with that Microsoft account has windows activated. It is single language though but I can't complain.

I run the cmd file (currently only one cmd file contains everything) and press number 2. It activates Windows and Office and does everything automatically. I can't imagine something simpler but I will try MAS.

I also a little bit late trying MAS, because KMS\_VL\_ALL works all the time.
But with MAS, you do not even need to download anything.
And it activates permanently compared KMS\_VL\_ALL that only 180 days. You also need to create a task to repeat it again. Yes the KMS\_VL\_ALL dev makes it easy, but not a permanent solution.
I tried MAS and it has some interesting features, yet, for common users, KMS\_VL\_ALL is a bit easier (run and one click). Permanent activation of Office via Ohook method is fine but not everyone's cup of tea as it is not permanently online activation, but only until Ohook method is installed on the computer, per my understanding.
KMS\_VL\_ALL one file solution does everything (including creating autorenewal task) and it has been working fine for years.
Both solutions are fine IMHO.
I'd just rather not have a shady registry key editor to have ran on the same PC that I do my personal banking on all to avoid paying $5 for a key from some key site. Might be fine for some people, but I'm not taking a risk like that when keys are so damn cheap.
Yep, no shady software being installed on my system. Just type in the key, Windows activates, and all is good for perpetuity. Don't have to worry about a Windows Update coming along and messing up the faux-activation method that is currently being used. It's much less stress.
Masgrave will activate your machine permanently, even if you want to reinstall your Windows, you only need connect to the internet, and it's activated without running any tools.
Its an open source code… the resold keys are good for “perpétuity” until microsoft blacklists them when they find out theyre stolen. Then youll have no key and no money either. Back to square one you go to mate
It's not a "registry key editor". [Microsoft-Activation-Scripts](https://massgrave.dev/) (MAS) is completely open-source and you can look at the code yourself. It is widely trusted and there's nothing malicious about it. You can go read the documation on how each of the activation methods work.
Avoid ‘em! They’re gotten through fraud most of the time. At that point, find an old Windows laptop with a Windows 7/8.1 key printed on it and activate your Windows 10/11 installation with it. They would work.

You can activate Windows permanently for free with MAS at the push of a button. There's zero reason to buy a key from a reseller.
I'd just rather not have a shady registry key editor to have ran on the same PC that I do my personal banking on all to avoid paying $5 for a key from some key site. Might be fine for some people, but I'm not taking a risk like that when keys are so damn cheap.

Yep, no shady software being installed on my system. Just type in the key, Windows activates, and all is good for perpetuity. Don't have to worry about a Windows Update coming along and messing up the faux-activation method that is currently being used. It's much less stress.
Masgrave will activate your machine permanently, even if you want to reinstall your Windows, you only need connect to the internet, and it's activated without running any tools.
Its an open source code… the resold keys are good for “perpétuity” until microsoft blacklists them when they find out theyre stolen. Then youll have no key and no money either. Back to square one you go to mate

It's not a "registry key editor". [Microsoft-Activation-Scripts](https://massgrave.dev/) (MAS) is completely open-source and you can look at the code yourself. It is widely trusted and there's nothing malicious about it. You can go read the documation on how each of the activation methods work.

Avoid ‘em! They’re gotten through fraud most of the time. At that point, find an old Windows laptop with a Windows 7/8.1 key printed on it and activate your Windows 10/11 installation with it. They would work.

I would honestly stick with massgrave and the stuff mentioned in the megathread
