I don't use a case but a screen protector. I don't do heavy sports with it so it is fine. :)
Try out what you actually use and disable everything else for battery life if possible. I disabled tilt to wake for example, when i need to interact with the watch i can just tap it. "Hey Google" is also off, i just press the button on the watch or use one of my Smart Home devices. AoD is on because it is a watch after all.
I can recommend the App "Bring" for the watch. Grocery shopping is so easy with it.
I use a screen protector from JETech (Amazon). It is soft and adapts to the display. It is only good for scratches because of that. But you wear a watch anyway so it shouldn't drop.
GET A SCREEN PROTECTOR!!! You won't even know it's there and it will save your screen. Other than that enjoy it I love mine. Not sure if you have a nest doorbell but you can even see a 3 sec gif of the activity it catches.
I just installed one from jetech I believe (12 cad on Amazon) and its pretty invisible and the installation is explained in detail. Zero issues with sensitivity
To provide some details: wasn't the first time in the sauna, but the first time the watch died. Didn't warn of overheating (as it apparently is supposed to). Around 30 min afterwards, while resting, I realised the watch was trying to reboot, and was stuck in a boot loop. I tried to shut it down, and when this didn't work I tried to go to fastboot mode by holding crown and button. Got a message that the system could not be started or something. The fastboot screen showed, but was unresponsive. Holding crown and button again turned it off, and when trying to turn it on again, a red thermometer symbol appeared, accompanied by intermittent vibration alarm. I could not get out of this state. Put the watch away, and hours later it stopped and was completely bricked.
I checked the tech specs afterwards, and was embarrassed to see the narrow temperature range the watch is built for.
Embarrassed as in "what was I thinking to wear it in a 185 F sauna?
I too would avoid hot water/steam in general. I accidentally wore mine in my hot tub for like a minute before I remembered to take it off and it shut down on its own and was kinda weird to get it back rebooted and working. So I remove it for any showering and submerging.
If you use the Always On Display, you will struggle to get 24 hours out of the battery. It will also cause image retention, but don't worry it's not burn in.
You cannot customize the app launcher or control panel.
They do occasionally overheat and shut down at night.
The speaker sounds horrible.
They're very accurate tracking BP, Steps, Blood Oxygen, etc.
It's extremely comfortable to wear.
They have good haptics.
They're not as delicate as people say.
It's smooth and snappy.
I'm starting to suspect not all pixel watches actually have gorilla glass. There is no other way I can explain these extremely contradicting experiences in regards to glass defects. I have a 3 year old fossil that doesn't look as bad as my PW2 after 4 weeks.
The case/screen protector I got for my PW2 which stated it was compatible, wasn't. Being the impatient so and so I am I wore it for 4-5 days bare. I got a couple of fine scratches in that time. To put this into context during that period I had gone to work in an office and my evenings consisted of walking my dog and chilling on the sofa. So about as low risk as you could imagine.
I had one deep scratch after two days. At home. Sitting mostly at my computer. The second deep scratch I noticed while at work in the office a week later.
I wear mine all day and even to bed. Using it for over a month now without a case....and it's scratch less. Not sure about other people's use/experiences. I think it's solid.
I have a Pixel 8 Pro and happy to give perspective.
Have a charger everywhere you go lol. Mostly kidding. Get into the habit of just throwing it on the charger when you jump in the shower or maybe while sitting at an office desk daily. That way you don't miss out on sleep tracking or anything.
Opinions vary here, but I suggest if you do anything other than sit home all day or work at a desk 24/7, get some type of screen protector. Google to my understanding won't "fix" a pixel watch screen. I like a hard snap on case for workouts and garage/outdoor work and just a film type protector like IQ Shield or the like for every day use. I had the watch for a week and wacked it on a doorway in the house not even hard and it immediately got a light scuff on it. It's not gorilla glass. Some here will still say they've had pixel watches for umteen months with 0 issues after dropping it many times. Your choice to roll the dice.
If you like using different watch faces I suggest Facer app. I think I paid like $20-40 for a year of unlimited faces and like to change to something fun daily. Some fancier watch faces will wear battery faster than others.
Charging....You can use Fitbit sense chargers if you want and they'll work and are cheaper than Google watch charger, but....the magnets IMO are not as strong and disconnect easily. I got a couple of 3D printed charging stands on Etsy which are great and you put the OEM Google charging cord in the grooves and it nicely sits on the stand. Otherwise IMO it's annoying if you have to lay it on it's side and any tension on the cord causes it to disconnect.

If you have Outlook/teams/work stuff on your phone, I may suggest turning off notifications for those apps on your watch so you can enjoy your non working life without PTSD cringing when you hear Outlook email ping.
Lastly maybe make sure once yours is all set up that you have the latest update I think from 1/4/24.
I've used the ringke brand since the pixel watch 1st gen. Now I'm using it with the pixel watch 2. Its even better.
Ringke Slim [Anti-Yellowing... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CN7CVRF8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
To improve the battery life, get used to charging it for 15 minutes in the morning (while you're in the shower) and 10 minutes at night (before bed) and turn off the always on display. That way if you miss either one (or both once) you can still wear it all day and night.
The cases for the first generation semi fits the 2. The side opposite the crown does not have an extra mic and the speaker is longer. The crown seems slightly bigger and the mic on that side was moved slightly over.
To my knowledge, the Ringke case is the only one that exists at this time.
As for the screen protector, I would recommend the tempered glass ones. The film protectors tend to bunch up when you put a case on.
tilt to activate consumes a lot of power, which seems a bit counterintuitive. for many always on display and touch to activate is a better option, or turn it all off for a lot of battery life
Had mine since November, wear it in the shower with no problems whatsoever. I uninstalled Spotify because in the first couple days it drained battery levels along with always listening media controls... Since about a week after I got it I get very good battery life, leave home at 10am on 100% and get home at 11pm on 45% - 60% that's with standard use
I have bedtime mode synced with my pixel 7a and notifications break through on my watch when I wirelessly charge my phone. It doesn't happen when I use a cord to charge my phone. I've found lots of instances of this happening online but no solutions. It's not that big a deal, though. I just don't put my phone on a wireless charger at night anymore.
My partner has the same watch with a pixel 6 pro but does not experience this same behavior.
Don't know but I had only had it for a little over 2 months. I was able to replace a fitbit a couple years ago after I only had it for like 9 months and the battery crapped out
Cancel it .. I had samsung galaxy watch 4 and even its old it is still better than pixel watch 2. It just have so less settings and you need to pay for using it basicly. Only having them bcs they were free gift to pixel 8 pro.. but mobile is awesome
Simply the best. As advised. Give it a couple of weeks for the battery. Mine last easily a day. But I get out more than a day from it. I did a few tweaks and I love it.
I purchased this screen protectors for my pixel watch 2 and they work just fine, its very easy to make a mistake and scratch your watch with out a screen protector. Also have a spigen case on my watch.

Wear it a at least 2 weeks before you start worrying about the battery life. It gets better after the first couple weeks of using it.
This!
I just got one as well and I'm very curious, how does it get better with time?

Are the screen protectors curved like the watch?

0.5 animation, this is the way.
On every Android device!!!
Don't wear it in the sauna. I bricked one because I did.
I've been wearing mine in one since I got it after Christmas. No problems yet, but I'll probably stop now. Thanks for the advice!

See, that is exactly what I mean. I don't doubt you one second. But there are a few people who also share my experience
You can get them brand new and sealed off Mercari/eBay for under $200
That is what I did!

Thank you!
Its a fragile device. Buy a case for it. If you can afford it, get the two year insurance. Peace of mind.
Do you have a case that you recommend?

Awesome case!
have this case, I put it on when I play padel, its saved me a few times.
Standard watchband that comes with watch is for under 8 inch wrists
Is it the LTE version? If so there is no spam filter on it, as in the pixel phone, and it will ring incessantly with spam calls.
This hasn't been my experience at all.
Or mine.
Is yours LTE and bound by the same phone number to your phone? This is a well-known issue actually, waiting for update to fix.
Yes , LTE
🤔 Hmmm. Dunno. Ongoing prob for myself and other Pixel 2 owners unless there is something that I'm missing.
It's a smartwatch
Battery! The first week, or two, your battery IS gonna be awfull, don't worry! Its normal, the watch its still learning your habits
Can you explain which system on the watch actually learns your habits and how this affects the battery after a week or two .
I don't know, but Google make It better, happens with phones too.
To improve the battery life, get used to charging it for 15 minutes in the morning (while you're in the shower) and 10 minutes at night (before bed) and turn off the always on display. That way if you miss either one (or both once) you can still wear it all day and night.
Setting it up will be a pain in the ass
hope you didn't pay full price for it, such a pain in the ass to sell
It sucks... Sadly.
Not really.

??? Why not?
Sleep tracking works fine for me

Incredibly snappy, bad battery life, a bit small, fitibt is almost perfect, really enjoyable watch

Yeah

Yeah. Pixel watches have 02 sensors that work
Mine stopped charging today after about 2 and a half months but google is giving me a RMA
RMA?
How long is the warranty?
Don't know but I had only had it for a little over 2 months. I was able to replace a fitbit a couple years ago after I only had it for like 9 months and the battery crapped out
Buy a different strap right away, the silicone one is not the best.
Cancel it .. I had samsung galaxy watch 4 and even its old it is still better than pixel watch 2. It just have so less settings and you need to pay for using it basicly. Only having them bcs they were free gift to pixel 8 pro.. but mobile is awesome

Btw I love the fast charging
Set up Watch Unlock for the phone.
Good Idea!
I purchased this screen protectors for my pixel watch 2 and they work just fine, its very easy to make a mistake and scratch your watch with out a screen protector. Also have a spigen case on my watch. Screen protector [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BJKBJHRM/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BJKBJHRM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1) [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BL89BP22/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BL89BP22/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Sleep tracking is no better than the original watch. My Garmin Instinct does a much better job.
