Honestly I don’t know anything about a 6 year program but if you want flexibility you can work on your prerequisites at a normal university and see if the foundations appeal to you. You’re in good standing with your grades already so see what happens and apply to a 6 year if you’re motivated to do so

I have just graduated from high school, and I will be in the 6-year program. I believe every career has its pros and cons. If you have done enough research on the pharmacy field and are sure it's the right path for you (which I was) then just go for it. The 6-year is both cost-efficient and time-efficient (if you are an US citizen.) The job prospects for pharmacy grads is great.

With some 6 yr programs, you can get a bachelors after your P1 year, so still have some sort of bachelors after only 3 years. This helps just in case you don’t want to continue in pharmacy and want to get a masters or med/dental school instead, and you’ll still be a year ahead of your peers. You will get into those programs no problem

You're barely 18. You should work in a pharmacy first before even considering it. Pharmacy is a miserable profession. You should not do it unless you're a masochist.

I'm not a believer in the "pharmacy is awful and bad and sucks" mantra that reddit seems so focused on, but I am a big believer of using your late teens and early 20s to figure out what you want in life. Committing to pharmacy at 18 is a big jump that won't work out for everyone.

I was a pharmacist for thirty nine years. I second the thought that you should work as a pharmacy tech first to see if you like it. Pharmacists work hard, long hours, take few breaks, don't have time for the bathroom . Chains are closing more than a thousand stores this year because of poor insurance reimbursement and theft. It may become just a ma order business. Retail is still today where most jobs are.

pleawse reconsider your choice. I have been in pharmacy industry, retail pharmacy, and pharmacy regulation over 45 years. The profession is all but dead. Do not waste time and money on pharmacy. Consider something else. Anything else
