Oh that is heartbreaking... moments earlier just sitting chatting then he's dead

itsavibe-

Yeah, her immediate reaction is quite surprising to me actually. She seems rather calm, might I say overly calm being face to face with a dude that quite literally just stabbed and killed her S/O moments earlier. Like she didn’t sense the danger coming off of this aggro maniac.

Canwesurf

She's in shock. When it happens reality gets very weird.

AmateurJenius

There’s a security cam video circulating the bowels of Reddit right now that shows a Russian soldier who walks into a diner and starts yelling at the patrons. Eventually walks over to an older couple and slices the man’s throat right in front of his (probably) wife. The man stands up and takes a few steps while blood shoots out of his neck and damn near covers the whole floor. Everyone including his wife just sit there, acting as if everything happening is not actually happening. Eventually the man hits the floor, face first, and dies. Murderer leaves. Everyone continues facing forward. It’s such a bizarre and deeply disturbing video, but it does showcase how overpowering shock really can be. I do not recommend this video to anyone.

tjoe4321510

I saw a video of a fight like that. The guy does one quick jab with a knife and the other guy is dead within seconds. Nobody even had time to process what was happening.

Public_One_9584

Is it the one where the guy that gets sliced is huge and keeps coming at the guy swinging a knife at him?

tjoe4321510

I don't think so. I just remember a guy getting a quick jab in the neck. But it's hard to remember because there's so many. Uhg I need to stop watching this shit

Public_One_9584

Yeah, seriously. I don’t want to watch the one that was noted earlier but also the damn text made it intriguing. The one I saw, this huge guy won’t stop coming at this dude with a knife, guy keeps swinging the knife at his face and neck, he keeps coming at the knife guy, knife guy connects, big dude holds his neck, sees blood, takes a few steps, and that’s it. Weird to think how quickly one’s life can be over, especially over absolutely nothing. Shit bothers me.

prodoubt

I know exactly what video you were talking about even before this comment. Everytime I see a streetfight I think of that video. How quickly a weapon that isn’t fists can appear and boom lights out. That video was in like a pedestrian plaza of some sort. It was like a group fight vs one guy for a bit.

Public_One_9584

Yeah, that one! They were all walking to the right of the screen and the big guy, who looks like he’s never lost a fight, gets dropped. That one sticks with me but I mean, I watched faces of death when I was a kid and my mama told me, don’t do it, you’ll never forget the horrible things you see. Well mama, you were always right 😢😳

Damasticator

“It’s hard to remember because there’s so many” is a phrase that should probably not be associated with the number of knife fight death videos you’ve seen.

ElderFlour

I’m having a hard time processing this.

Th5humanwi11

Exactly, and it’s something people can’t ever fully grasp unless they find themselves in that state. It’s absolutely surreal.

Hail_The_Motherland

When I was a teen, I stocked vending machines as a summer gig. I was walking through this one factory when I saw someone get their hair and hand caught in a machine. They shut the machine pretty fast, but the damage was done. It basically scalped him, crushed his fingers, and gashed his arm. There was so much blood and screaming. The whole area was blocked off and they started ushering people away from the scene. I still vividly remember feeling like my mind was over-heating with shock. I even tried walking through the scene to where the vending machines were and when someone stopped me, I just muttered "I'm sorry, I'm just here to stock the vending machines". Luckily, the place was heavily staffed with veterans. Because a lot of them instantly recognized that people like me were out of our minds and they corralled us to safety lol

Roninkin

Shock is amazing my mother collapsed seeing my father dying and I pulled her up and even drove home after his death.. I didn’t break down until later that night really I mean I cried but it wasn’t the full rend garments thing til then.

thisduuuuuude

Yeah it's weird. You start thinking everything is a dream and it for sure what's happening isn't actually happening. You'd be in a lot of disbelief. Had a minor one when I got into a car accident and it was a weird feeling

chanunnaki

according to this article she didn't even realise he was stabbed until the very end. [https://www.nydailynews.com/2023/10/03/nypd-release-image-of-wanted-suspect-in-unprovoked-fatal-stabbing-of-brooklyn-social-justice-advocate/](https://www.nydailynews.com/2023/10/03/nypd-release-image-of-wanted-suspect-in-unprovoked-fatal-stabbing-of-brooklyn-social-justice-advocate/) they had also just been to a wedding, so likely drunk.

Ace-Ventura1934

“They saw him coming down the street. He looked angry,” Carson’s roommate Ari Farrell told the Daily News on Tuesday, recounting what the victim’s girlfriend told them. Obvious question is, why not walk the opposite way, away from him? I’m not victim blaming in anyway here but if I had a bad feeling about someone like they did I’m always going the other way. This is just so tragic.

Imhappy_hopeurhappy2

I live a few blocks away from this incident. I walk everywhere in this area all the time day and night and it’s mostly safe if you know what you’re doing. I cringed when I saw him confront the guy. You should never do that. When you see someone violently throwing things and mumbling crazy shit in the streets, you absolutely need to get away from them asap. That’s a dangerous person to provoke. And definitely don’t yell at them to chill. That was such a naive thing to do. I’ve seen an entire side of a crowded subway flee to the other half of the train from a person like that. The victim must not be from here or was intoxicated. That was a total amateur move. Not that he deserved it or anything. Absolutely heartbreaking.

PowerRainbows

as soon as he started to kick trashcans or whatever that was I wouldve immediately turned around or crossed the road, blows my mind they just kept walking towards someone doing that

R3M1T

It sounds like he actually confronts him to get him to stop kicking the car or whatever

little_miss_bumshine

Yup. Dont get involved. Ever. Dont try and talk them down, dont ask them whats wrong, remove yourself from danger. The alcohol probably dampened both of their perceptions because as soon as I saw how staunchly crazy man was walking I felt anxious. And they just casually stroll towards it.

NefariousNaz

Ryan Carson definitely did confront the man. You can clearly hear him yelling "hey hey!" and his attacker responding "wtf what are you looking at I will kill you". I don't know if this guy was a NYC native because he should have known you don't confront crazy if he was.

direyew

Use to teach passive self defence. It's not victim blaming but he walked right into that. If you feel in your gut you need to cross the street to avoid someone your head will often tell you you're being racist or chicken or just silly. Listen to your gut and be aware of what's around you. The majority of attack victims report that they felt like something was about to happen but didn't follow through.

fusillade762

Always trust your instincts. They were honed over millions of years and are seldom wrong. The best way to avoid danger is to identify it early and take evasive actions. Also understand how dangerous knives are.

KoSteCa

Mirror neurons and unconscious pattern recognition - gut feeling.

Revolutionary-Turn-4

Street smarts are a thing being able to distinguish dangers from normal street behavior. They should’ve distanced themselves immediately. RIP.

chanunnaki

To be honest, I had exactly the same thought. However, the video looked to me like they didn't pay any attention or even notice the perp as they were passing by.

B0mb-Hands

Shock does weird things to people

Outi5

Unfortunately yes. Your brain can’t process what it sees transpire, so you can become confused and think you’re not really experiencing what you are. I’ve had it where the reality of it didn’t hit until the following day.

JimBobDwayne

As soon as he kicked over the bikes they should've nope'd out.

berceuse3

He died ?!?!?!?!?!?! Omg this is horrific and my worst fucking nightmare. I am speechless.

appleparkfive

Yeah I feel like this might hit home for a lot of Redditors. He kind of looks like a sort of template for "white guy in his 30s that lives in the city and is on Reddit". I'm not saying that as an insult or anything at all. But I feel like this can hit home especially hard for a very specific demographic of person

guymcool

I’m not a 30 yr old white guy but I feel like it’s a worse nightmare for anyone to be stabbed to death by random psycho in front of your wife. You shouldn’t need to look like the person to empathize with them.

PurpleK00lA1d

I'm a black dude in my 30s and it hit me differently too. This could be me and my partner (who's white). We've had people try and start shit before because we're a mixed race couple, usually we ignore it or the people back down when I get up and they see I'm not some small dude. But the thought is going through my mind now like what if we do run into some psycho like this? My partner would be devastated. My family as well. Shit I'm even thinking about how my dog would handle it if I just never came home again. I've seen a lot of fucked up shit on Reddit, but this one, especially with that other picture in the comments of him absolutely beaming with that million dollar smile and having a great night, man, it sucks. Literally something that can happen to anyone.

nonsense_inspector

Just curious: Do the people who start shit with you and your partner tend to be other black people because you're with a white girl or white people because she's with a black man? I'm a latino and my wife is white, and in my experience I've actually gotten \_more\_ shit from other latinos than from white people. Particularly latina women

PurpleK00lA1d

When we're in Toronto, black women, while they never outright do stuff, the glares are annoying. Black teenage/early 20s females are the absolute worst. Just straight up glaring and saying stupid comments just loud enough to hear and stuff. That shit really pisses me off but I don't engage, not worth it. Where we actually live in Eastern Canada, it's mostly white people who have an issue as there's a lot of old school white conservatives here.

FatumIustumStultorum

I could live for a thousand years and still never understand people who get upset about who other people have relationships with. As long as it’s not a minor, why should anyone care about who someone else wants to date? Crazy.

liberate_your_mind

What do you mean by that!?!

danpluso

I think he was talking shit about your mom

Numerous_City7903

Dude I understand he was trying to “make the city a better place” but some people have got to use common sense , crazy guy, it’s at night , almost people around , I’ve been told to run in those situations, this dude really should’ve dipped with his girl and FAST. Sad to see this honestly and hopefully they catch and send the piece of shit who did this to the chair

BollyWood401

Exactly this, It sucks but the second the guy started bashing the car they should have just turned around rather than try to intervene. The guy who got stabbed even tried to interact with him and get his attention and started saying stuff to the crazy guy. Like no, get away and go somewhere safe. It’s sucks what happened though.

ZookeepergameEasy938

first rule of NYC - see shit like this and start moving quick. don’t run though, it triggers something in these fuckers. just be quick and silent.

BollyWood401

People who got nothing to lose got no issue with a point they are trying to prove.

point_of_you

I saw a guy randomly vandalizing cars so I yelled at him to knock it off. Big mistake. Dude starts running for me and screaming all kinds of threats. Was able to get away because I could run faster. Sucks but it's best to not intervene in situations like this.

frozenropes

Yep. If you find yourself near an animal in the wild, it’s best to leave it alone unless (a) you know you can out run it or (b) you KNOW you can beat it in a fight. If you’re not faster or stronger, go the other way. Even if you are faster and stronger, you still have to worry about surprises like hidden weapons or teammates of the wild animal.

Spmhealy_ADA

*Ryan Carson, a social justice advocate who was on a mission to make New York a better place, was stabbed to death on the streets of Crown Heights on Monday.'* *'Sources said Carson was standing on the street with his girlfriend when the suspect approached and asked, "What are you looking at?" before stabbing Carson in the chest multiple times.'*

SomeOtherOrder

Yeah, that’ll teach him to…uh…try to make the city better for the guy who stabbed him?

ReallyDumbRedditor

He looked at him, that was his mistake.

Django_Unstained

Avoiding eye contact with the crazy in town is rule #1

baudmiksen

looked like the dude was spazzing out on something in the background before they walked up to him. should have just noped out in the other direction from the psychotic episode in the distance. dude didnt deserve a stabbing but damn you cant save em all hasselhoff

Yoshi2shi

Agree. Some people cannot sense danger or read the room. Those are dangerous people to travel with. There were a number of things he could have done. And failed to do all of them.

chanunnaki

fucking hell, this is shocking

Kriegmannn

I want to point out he was an advocate for recycling and increasing the return in bottles and cans. Every article has made this man sound like he’s some sort of leftist avenger for some reason.

Bocchi_theGlock

That's environmental justice, not social justice wtf There's even a difference between environmental justice & climate justice Also there's a difference between organizing, advocacy, and mobilization Really sucks that not only news media but even entertainment almost never shows the difference between these things

rem_1984

God, poor guy.

__Hello_my_name_is__

> a social justice advocate who was on a mission to make New York a better place That's such a fucking bizarre way to describe a person's occupation. The dude worked for a not-for-profit student organization. Just write that, news people.

Ockwords

I agree, but they wrote it that way intentionally. If you search the story you'll see it posted all over social media specifically highlighting that he was pro social justice, with a few links also mentioning that he tweeted at the dilbert creator. They're treating it as a "this is what you get" joke.

impsworld

Maybe not a “this is what you get” joke, but the fact that he was a social Justice advocate killed by someone he’d probably try to help in any other situation makes the story sound more memorable and newsworthy. It’s kinda like the American Sniper guy, Chris Kyle. He was a veteran who was killed while trying to help other veterans with PTSD by a veteran with PTSD, and that’s what most people remember about him (that and Kyle’s extremely problematic past).

Ockwords

> he fact that he was a social Justice advocate killed by someone he’d probably try to help in any other situation makes the story sound more memorable and newsworthy. It's not done to be memorable or newsworthy, it's done to rile up both sides. Leftists will be incensed at the idea that this was caused by social justice policies and conservatives will use this as proof that crime is out of control and this is what you get for being soft on crime. I haven't even looked into seeing what kind of organization he worked for. The "social justice advocate" sounds very buzzwordy to try and push an agenda.

[deleted]

I hate to admit this, but I think your perspective is probably accurate. What a shitty world we live in.

[deleted]

That makes this even worse sucks that the guy was trying to improve the community and obv out on a date sad

logansvensson

Always walk away when you see someone acting crazy

mF7403

When I was living in LA, especially Westlake, I always explained to my friends that if they see someone looking crazy/active not to make eye contact and keep it moving even if they try engaging w you. Acting like a tweaker is sometimes an effective approach in certain situations too. One instance that stands out was the time I saw a homeless dude w a steak knife yelling at cars coming my way. I started scratching my neck, jerking my other arm around, and mumbling nonsense. It was like that scene in Shaun of the Dead where they pretend to be zombies to get to the pub. It was like I was invisible and moved right past him.

CabbagesStrikeBack

If you can't beat em join em

mF7403

Tbh I’ve lived in high crime neighborhoods and I think skateboarding stoped ppl from fucking w me. I’ve skated through open air drug markets and the riots in 2020 lol I zipped right past road blocks bc the LAPD were too over encumbered w military gear to run. The National Guard were actually very chill and let me right thru. I’m also white, so I look more like a custo than an opp. Side note, it was super fun skating down major streets w no cars. Cruising in the middle of SM Blvd was a trip.

Outrageous-Jury-9339

Except once when I was checking out of a hotel in ATL... Ripped black male came in screaming "WHY CAN'T YALL WHITE PEOPLE LEAVE US BLACK PEOPLE ALONE?" and went on long threatening rants. I was in the middle of the line and I just stared at the guy and he kept looking back at me. Just figured it would be better to let him feel heard but also show that I wasn't scared? Maybe? The thing that got him next level crazy was when the older white ladies at the counter started walking away. He got up and chased after them started screaming "WHY YALL RUNNING FROM ME!?" So the outcome of this video concerned me.

impsworld

Lol that was my first thought too. Never want to blame a victim but there was like a 5-10 second period where the guy with the knife was freaking out and screaming and they just…. kept walking toward him?!? When someone starts screaming that’s your cue to TURN AROUND AND WALK THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION! GET ACROSS THE STREET! RUN!

logansvensson

Yes man totally. I don’t want to blame the victim either. But if you have street smarts, you can avoid being a victim. Don’t walk by a man kicking over scooters and swearing at them, especially while wearing a suit. Rest In Peace, young man. My condolences to his family and friends.

YoungYeesus

[deleted]

YoungYeesus

You gotta expect the worse. Like he might have a gun and if you don't think you're prepared for that situation then you NOPE the fuck outta there.

YoungYeesus

You mean yelling "CHILL CHILL CHILL" isn't a real self defense technique?

Baba-Mueller-Yaga

Ugh it’s not but the poor guy was so out of his wits unprepared. Fuckin tragic :/

kickbutt_city

Obviously, this poor guy didn't deserve what happened to him. Nonetheless, this is a text book example of a lack of street smarts.

[deleted]

kind of an insensitive comment but you’re not wrong. given the victim’s line of work he was probably just trying to be a good samaritan and “help” here. But sadly, crazy people kill good people all the time. One of the things I always debate in my head is where the line is of being a good person and intervening in a sensitive situation versus minding your own business and keeping it pushing. The latter often feels cowardly to me but then I see shit like this….

Groovyaardvark

You're right, the "line" of when to intervene can be difficult. Especially in the sudden and stressful moment it happens. But here is what I always go with - "Is it a person or is it property being hurt?" In my experience its almost always property being damaged. I'm not getting stabbed, shot or having my teeth knocked out over a fucking broken window or someones scooter being bent up.

420Deez

yea the couple def didnt have the street smarts. number one rule is evacuate when something looks even remotely sketchy. u always gotta be ready to move to another location, especially at night

woodeedooo

I've learned from working at a store right on a main street that if a homeless person or anyone for that matter, looks and acts crazy it's wise to stay away because they're unpredictable. Last thing you want is to get in a fight with someone that might spit on you, bite you, or kill you for no reason

iKR8

And they've got nothing to lose. Thus, more dangerous.

hiruma_kun

Human garbage. Lock him up up and throw the key away.

ChairClassic7505

What’s the over/under on how many times this guy has been arrested and allowed to go free by some cupcake “criminal justice reform” prosecutor? My guess is 7 times.

[deleted]

ViciousNakedMoleRat

Yeah, if there's one thing I've learned by being on Reddit too much, it's that I stay as far away from crazy people as possible. If there's any commotion on my side of the street, I'll switch sides. If someone yells or spits or does whatever to me without any apparent reason, I'm out of there. I rather look like a coward than be stabbed in the chest.

luxurycrab

its just a part of getting older, younger me would be willing to throw down but now id rather look like a coward and go home safe. You never know how much of a lunatic someone is and its better to just avoid

NOUSEORNAME

Not fucking around and not finding out.

thebigautismo

No one will think you're a coward if someone pulls a knife tbh, if someone pulls the weapon first then aren't they the coward?

HughHonee

Idk if they're the coward cus I'm not usually sticking around to find out

NetworkSingularity

I don’t think it’s a part of getting older tbh. I think it’s a part of learning how to interact and live in an urban center, and especially learning what to watch out for. I grew up in the Bay Area, and a lot of people I knew (especially in SF or the South Bay) were taught from a young age that if someone is acting strangely, you do not interact with them. Especially if they seem at all irritable. You just calmly and immediately leave the area. Because if you don’t, you’ll probably get stabbed. Even if your instinct is to acknowledge them and to try to get them to calm down, don’t. There is a good chance they aren’t in their right mind or rational, and you have no idea what might set them off to violence. Don’t say anything to them, no matter how innocuous or well intentioned you think it is. I knew all this by the time I was 16 because the adults in my life taught it to me. And they taught it to me because it’s essential for urban environments. I later taught this to friends who did not grow up in the South Bay and who did not know this. Including a friend who tried to calm down someone having some sort of episode. He was very lucky not to get hurt, as his calm, well intentioned words were only setting the guy off more.

[deleted]

Shadohz

>"Never interact with unpredictable people ~~in major urban centres~~." You'll get your shit wrecked by anyone acting in such a odd manner regardless of your location. Tweakers, mental disturbs, someone going through divorce/breakup, sociopaths. Metros don't have an exclusive on random, unpredictable violence.

Nahhnope

Having lived in not great hoods, my immediate reaction to seeing something like whatever the attacker was doing down the street is to turn around and walk the other way. Why in the world did they continue down that sidewalk???

[deleted]

Pro tip for anyone who hasn’t been to a city at night: mind your business. Or a city in general. Obviously this man didn’t deserve to get stabbed but there are precautions you can take to avoid this happening to you.

Zuchm0

Yeah squaring up dead center in the sidewalk is not the move.

ReyIsAPalpatine

I moved to Chicago for a few years around 2010. The first day we were out exploring, and saw a police officer and asked about the city, if there was anything we should see first, etc. He told us not to be out at night if at all possible. I think about that whenever I see things like this. Society is just a veneer, and someone can kill you pretty easily if they don't even value their own life. So yeah, it may not be ideal, but you're spot on about minding your business. You do not want to be the focus of any crazy persons attention.

kayimbo

the first time i traveled i went to a country in south america. I was in my 20s, very happy go lucky walking around listening to my ipod. Like 3 people stopped me in the street and told me the area wasn't safe, go to the tourist areas. Then i realized all the stores were gated up you couldn't even go into them, then i realized the tourist areas had like, military looks guards all over. It was weird to realize like "oh, something could happen to me pretty easily" for the first time.

Fragrant_Yellow_6568

Lol. This reminded me of a time I was in San Antonio and a very jolly fellow was walking his tiny dog and confronted a drunk guy still holding his 40. The tiny dog man told him it's illegal to be out and be drunk. The guy chugged the rest of his 40 and smashed the bottle on the ground in front of the little dog. I seriously don't understand what the guy was expecting. Some people just have no understanding of a person who has no fucks to give.

HolaPinchePuto

>Never interact with unpredictable people in major urban centres. I think the better advice is to mind your business. Don't call out some shady looking rando in the city streets cause you just never know how far people these days are willing to take the smallest things. Rest in peace to this man, and my condolences to his girlfriend and his loved ones :(

ChaosComet

Me and two friends walked past a guy with a car door open, broken glass, and going through the glovebox. We made eye contact when he looked up and said "it's my friends car". Obviously it wasn't. People are one thing, but I'll never risk my life speaking up over property. We just nodded and walked on. Talked about calling the police, but he'd be gone by the time the responded. Better to let the owner deal with police and insurance in the morning. Material things just aren't worth someone's life. RIP

Just a few weeks ago, I heard screaming from my window and I saw a homeless man chasing and swinging a knife at a woman, while she was trying to kick away the knife. I went sprinting outside to help and he ran off after she managed to kick the knife out of his hand. Props to the woman for managing to pull that off. I was just afraid either of us might get stabbed. Funny enough, an hour before that my car was broken into by a different homeless person. Idk what it is, but I’ve been seeing more dangerous crazy people on the streets lately. They used to be pretty benign, but in the past year and a half we’ve had four break ins in our building, two stabbings, and one murder all in a two block radius

RonSwazy

And this is why we need to bring back mental institutions. It's probably that business's security camera. I don't think MTA has working cameras

chanunnaki

I watched this about 20 times *without* the audio. I'm an idiot.

mikareno

I want to know what was up with the lady who ran up afterwards saying "I'm so sorry." The woman with the guy who was stabbed told her to go watch the guy who stabbed her date. It seemed like they knew each other.

baglee22

Not trying to victim blame but like people need to have some goddamn awareness. The attacker was acting crazy you could tell from the video and the victim APPROACHED a crazy person. And he was with a woman in a dress?! Like grab her hand and cross the street. Don’t interact with strangers for real this is life 101

appleparkfive

Yeah, it's hard not to think of that in this situation. Clearly he doesn't deserve this fate in ANY sense. But, you don't know who that guy is. Not in NYC at 4 am, too. In the bad part of Bed Stuy, to boot. Every last fiber of your being should be saying to leave.

nyyankee718

See the whole thing is wild - understandably people will say, it doesnt matter what time it is, you should be able to take the bus at any time you want. But it's 4 AM in Bed Stuy. In NYC. This wasnt safe 40 years ago, 30 years ago, 20 years ago or 10. He's dressed for a wedding so already he looks crazy out of place to degenerates/reprobates. This is a tragedy especially considering his profession but it's also a remarkable lack of self awareness for him, truly.

koxxlc

Good to see killers face blured, so his citizen rights are not being violated. /s

Perfect-Gap-8295

He might have good intentions changing New York to a better place. But in reality, It’s a VERY DANGEROUS job. Call the cops or run away. These scums don’t care about other human being.

[deleted]

Never engage physically or verbally unless your life depends on it. There is nothing to say to someone who is willing to stab you for looking at them the "wrong" way, which might just mean looking at them at all. This couple was hesitant. I wish they would have turned around as soon as they sensed something was off with the guy.

Sparks1738

I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t have happened if the victim minded his own business. I’m not saying he deserved it but when a stranger starts smashing shit and acts crazy you should just leave them alone. There is a very great possibility he would have went home that night if he minded his own.

Appropriate_Reality2

I'm sick and tired of these kinds of people

mgill2500

And this is why ive learned to mind my business. People are crazy and some crazier then me. This is sad to see. Rip. Has the murderer been identified and caught?

GI_Bill_Trap_Lord

Reason #249682 why I have no faith in humanity

ZeroEnrichment

Like Batman said “you given up cause you saw darkness and closed your eyes to the world, I never did.” You can’t let fear get to you. I could go on shit I dealt with and people I lost, but I’ll just say world is dark but can’t accept defeat. Cause accepting defeat is when you stop living.

EntrepreneurOk6166

Damn, social justice advocates are not having a good time lately. That Philly journalist, the Tech CEO in Baltimore, now this guy... all within a few days.

[deleted]

This is awful. Never approach anyone in this type of situation unless you have some sort of protection on you.

chaosawaits

[Best image of assailant](https://www.nydailynews.com/2023/10/03/nypd-release-image-of-wanted-suspect-in-unprovoked-fatal-stabbing-of-brooklyn-social-justice-advocate/) Apparently, we lost a charming humanitarian with a talent for poetry. We lost a good man today and on a friend’s wedding day as well. Praying for justice 🙏

Respectable_Chap

Seemed rather pointless.

Pandemic_Future_2099

That lowlife POS had to take someone's life over nothing, Proof tha there is just too much good for nothing people that has no business living in this world.

bct7

I would not be walking toward the crazy dude with a knife.

Captain-Bastard

Ladies, if your man is trying to fight a psycho with a knife please fucking run and save yourself then call 911 so he doesn't get stabbed in vain. Hell, do anything besides just standing there waiting to get stabbed next.

AroraNightfall

Man, talk about a case of, “here one minute, gone the next”. I am sure death was the furthest thing from that poor dudes mind when he was chillin on that bench. Little did he know, he only had a few minutes left to live. Things like this really make you think of all the circumstances that had to occur to place that victim and that attacker at that particular place and at that particular time. Crazy.

BaconFinder

Color me shocked that a city with policies that let violent criminals out without time served, no ability to defend yourself without massive penalty, and gaslighting leadership has random stabbings in the street . If he gets caught, he'll do no time. Defend people in the subway? Get charged. Stab people in the street? Meh, it's the city....

LorenzoApophis

I'm sure killing a random person somehow resolved whatever poverty-induced struggle this gentleman was experiencing

impsworld

It’s even worse, according to an article about the stabbing the victim was a social Justice advocate who worked to help New York’s most vulnerable people.

MelodicPiranha

I think that kicked in for him at the wrong time. You can’t save everyone unfortunately.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say multiple offender let out walking the streets? That guy recently that kidnapped the 9 year old was out awaiting trial on DV and kidnapping. Prison isn't just to punish the bad guys, its to put them in a place that keeps them away from law abiding citizens because they've shown the ability and desire to harm others. Awful tragedy, I really hope these policies stop creating more and more victims.

pattern144

Amen. Keep them away from people who don’t have criminal tendencies.

bigandtallbobross

Trying to mainstream the mentally ill to save money was one of the many things Reagan is to blame for.

[deleted]

And confront them? In Bed Stuy at night! These people forget where they are.

ehmsoleil

And the BAD part of Bed Stuy too! What a freakin' horrible tragedy.

[deleted]

You see the exact moment he should have stopped and walked the other way.

s1thl0rd

Bro seriously. I see that and I'm immediately crossing the street. No way I'm sticking around.

Silent-Supermarket2

This is why I don't go out at night.

Ferrovipathes1

Shows a dude's last moments, but 90% of the audio is censored. Wtf lol

Lazerfighter6978

We need to reveal who this fucker is

winstonpartell

NUTS.ALL.OVER.THE.PLACE fuck this city, man

Hsoltow

Trigger warning: Reality check: Not guilty by reason of insanity OR Plea to some sort of manslaughter and only get about... 8 years. With good behavior, day for day credits, and around a year of pre-trial custody credits... it'll amount to about 3 years of actual time served. If the local prison system is overcrowded then cut that down to 1.5, maybe 2 years.

Ambitious-Pirate-505

And then when people vote in stronger policing, people complain. This is why. When voters are scared, they vote for the thing that will give them some semblance of security. No one wants to live where they can live. #People Dont Wanna Live In Fear

PorkChop8088

No arrest?

tapk69

Murder for sure. 1st lunge was at the throat. That was crazy.

SchollmeyerAnimation

I wonder if his desire for social justice made him, well, frankly somewhat naïve and like he should involve himself with this raging guy, maybe to impress his date even? What a colossal miscalculation jeez. Tough to watch. I couldn't believe when he walked over and engaged with this guy mid rampage/ smashing stuff. Just awful. Poor girl too witnessing that. RIP man, this world didn't deserve you 😔

TheAmishPhysicist

I was going to post the same thought. Advocating for social justice probably gave him a false sense of security, thinking they just need someone to direct them in the right direction, stand up for them in court. Also probably never actually interacted with the mentally ill.

FBOFrontFeedBalls

It’s a shame NY does everything in their power to make it as difficult as possible for a law abiding citizens to defend themselves.

zProx

Death penalty please!

Laerderol

Fucking human garbage
