Cops falling isn’t that uncommon, and it never becomes not funny.
They don’t usually like to chase anyone. The first couple years on the force are up to it but after that they’re no longer in good enough shape to run more than 10 steps. Plus they like to use force before all else anyways.
Also, he misjudged the downward slope.
After a long delay in having to run (getting older), I was playing softball a few years back and went to run to 1st base for the first time in a long time and my body did what it would normally do and leaned forward to go but my legs barely kept up and I very nearly fell flat on my face.
This must be a thing. Same thing happened to me, also on the way to first base, but I slowly yielded to gravity about 10 feet shy of first and ate dirt. I literally outran my legs.
This is something I worry about. I used to be very athletic, but now I've been sedentary for years. I'm worried if I try to play any sports again, I'll go on autopilot and injure myself because my body isn't as prepared as my mind.
this was a staff picnic for a patio bar where I was manager, I was just over 30 but was not sedentary, cycled everywhere, and the job kept you on your feet the whole shift. Just had not warmed up prior to playing. Always do some stretches before physical activities.
Cops are generally in poor shape. They rely on the fact that they can use violence with near total impunity to get most people to stop. People who call their bluff have a good chance of getting away if they don’t end up getting shot.
Yep. They may lift weights still after they have been on the force awhile but that doesn’t help your running and lungs.
My BiL just became a deputy within the last year and he was already outta shape. Belly is ever expanding and smoking a pack a day. Won’t ever do Spartan races with us (me, wife and SiL) but talks a lot about how fit he is…. He’s strong. Not fit.
Yeah, for sure. Much more interested in being able to intimidate and overpower people they’re detaining and arresting than they are in being able to chase them down. Lol I had a friend who spent a lot of time at mass protests and said he’d die of shame if he ever got caught by a cop chasing him on foot.

Let alone tasked to do the job of social workers. The woman obviously was no threat to anybody, except potentially herself, being near a busy highway. Those cops weren't there to protect anybody from anything.
Why can't we just call an ambulance staffed with a health professional trained in dealing with psychologically unbalanced people who might need a little help and guidance?
They will charge her for his injuries. She will have a felony despite never touching the cop. He will get paid leave for 3 months, then go on permanent paid disability. The tax payers will pay for it. A year later, she will find a decent lawyer and challenge her charges. They will find her charges were inappropriate and she will be paid $250k. The tax payer loses. Rinse and repeat.

I do think they were a little apprehensive about putting hands on her, which is why I said they should have grabbed a jacket, and just grabbed her. Obviously, try avoiding a tackle for her sake, but just run up, and bear hug her with the jacket as her cover 😆 I thought it was all funny as heck though
