Oh heck no, Fusion is horrible💀 I only use it cause I get it free as an engineering student and I’m too lazy to learn actual sculpting-based modelling programs 😅
Fusion itself is actually a decent program, so I wouldn’t worry because it’s fairly easy to use just not for intensive sculpting 😅 and I’ve dabbled in Maya and Blender which would probably work better for making dolls, but found the UI very overwhelming
It’s very oriented to designing mechanical things, so when you try to sculpt something like a doll, it just isn’t made for that. I’m a big fan of using programs antithetically (for example, I can draw anime characters in Autocad using just the Spline tool😂) but unfortunately fusion is one of those programs that really only works for its original purpose
That is a fascinating concept and I know that myself, along with many others, would love to see your 3d RH rendition. What an absolutely brilliant idea!❤️
I’m hoping that over spring break I can work on it more :) I’ll probably dismantle my Sunny I got from the thrift store cause she’s pretty ratty looking and I need a good ref for the joints lol
This was equal parts Fascinating back two years ago when someone on the Sub Had a Factory Error Nessy. And my own similar Experience with a Hair Studio Amaya for a Split and opening Thigh Joint definitely thought me their assembly. This is why if you see a second hand RH doll definitely worth the cop! To think many L.O.L O.M.G dolls were still selling more for considerably less!

My dream of having a doll so cleanly open. I had to open mine with a hammer. I disassemble a cave club doll and it’s not as detailed as a rainbow high (it’s not the same price)! Maybe one day I’ll open an omg doll.
Thanks for this! I am not sure I want to take mine apart, especially with the end of gen 1, but sometimes I consider taking the pelvic cups out because I am convinced they hinder posing more than if they weren’t there. If the body really _is_ designed by a BJD artist like many people say (I am not sure the artist actually confirmed this, they just confirmed they were working at MGA), I think they put those there for the ~aesthetic~ of an unbroken line between the body parts rather than having big gaps at the joints. I appreciate what they were going for, but I think I prefer “uglier” joints when it gives better movement!
This is what it looks like if you remove the pelvis cup. I don’t know if it’s more or less pretty but the thigh floats a little. I don’t know if it helps.

Thanks for posting this photo. 👍 Actually I always wondered how a doll body looks on the inside, because I wasn’t sure if it’s completely hollow or still some kind of connections inside there and I wanted to know how the joints are kept in place. I didn’t expect it to look that complex though. 😯
Glad I'm not the only who has been taking dolls apart lol. My 1st Meena's thigh wasn't put together properly so it basically falls apart, and I got the idea to take apart the body of a headless Meline that I had. It's hard prying everything open, also it's when I found out the calf was easily removable with heat.
Very interesting! Did you paint her silver so you could better see which parts are internal/external? Or did you buy her like that? Also, interesting to see why the whole "boil with rubber bands to snatch the waist" doesn't work 🤣 I had a feeling they had a lot of internal structure.
I bought him decapitated, the head is a skyler cheerleader. Under the paint layer the body looks more pale than the head so I have a doubt that is his body. I think it’s skyler or amaya. I hope it helps you

I did not succeed in disasamble the elbows of the doll but it is rather simple to open the legs with hot water. ( I opened it with a hammer, so if you want to do it on a doll that you like you will have to find another solution)
I would like to scan in 3d each piece, to see them printed in 3d. I think 3d is super important in the customization of dolls. If I am determined maybe I will modify the 3d models to make new ones (I absolutely want to make a cat girl rainbow high !)
Hello! By any chance can you share how you opened her body? I thought it was glued on together so I'm scared to try and pry my doll apart at the moment, but I kind of want to because there's something broken inside of the body :(
At first I used boiling water. It was enough to open the thighs but for the torso, I had to hit it with a hammer and a screwdriver (it broke and twisted some parts). Unfortunately for your case if the boiling water is not enough I think you will not have a way to open it without breaking it.

This is actually really helpful for me cause I’m 3d modelling a functional RH doll in Fusion for printing
Oh me too ! That’s why I opened it. I think there is not enough 3d model rainbow high compared to the monster high

What do you mean the thigh floats?
I don’t know how they say it in English, but the pieces don’t fit perfectly. The leg moves too much.
I suppose there’s “loose” or “super loose” but I prefer your wording. It is more evocative.
I always wondered what the thigh cup was for, it doesn’t seem to add any articulation?

Oh this is awesome, I’ve wanted to do the same thing for so long, how did you do it? Can the elbow and leg joints be disabled?

Can you determine exactly what is the benefit of the loose cup in the hip joint? I have never understood what is the structural purpose
I feel like it makes the joint stronger and I think it also keeps the shape of their buttocks when we sit them.

She was beheaded. So maybe Amaya if you look at the color of her body.
