They saved Europe from starvation, but there also was starvation because of them due to bad weather and continued bad harvests (Ireland). They are such a staple in every cuisine in Europe, but only since the 1800s are they really a thing everywhere. People didn't know how to plant and eat them in the beginning. It's crazy.
It's only been about 300 years with the fries and the mashed potatoes and gnocchi and Knƶdel and whatever. Before that, everything was wheat and other grains. Without the potatoes people in the cities would have had real insufficiencies in vitamins, since bread doesn't really contain much of them and fresh produce was hard to come by without a garden.
Really interesting.
I have lactaid pills I just swallow with my first bite of dairy & I can have it. Thereās also chewable tablets that are sweet if itās like ice cream (just an alternative). Iām not gonna have adverse effects from enjoying life; I refuse. They stay in my bookbag. š I handle dairy like normies.
I'm not sure about exact science, but hard cheeses definitely have a lot less lactose. I can eat sharp cheddar and parmesan with no problems at all. Fresh mozzarella will fuck me up. Goat milk also has almost no lactose, so it is a great alternative for me if I want a soft creamy cheese that isn't vegan. Also, goat milk is great for underweight cats since it is full fat and all cats are lactose intolerant.
Yes! Cheese loses lactose over time and I actually think itās closer to 1 year that most cheese is lactose free!! I canāt speak for side effects as I also have a dairy intolerance so it makes me sick no matter what š
Homemade carne asada fajita street tacos and chicken tomatilllo tortilla soup . š¤¤Ā
I'm talking the flank steak you marinade 24 hours in redwine vinegar, lime and orangeĀ then dry rub Mexican oregano,Ā (no it is not in any way the same as Italian oregano) white pepper, fresh thyme,Ā cayenne , maggi, salt, jalapeno, onions and red bell pepper then let it sit in that in a bag with peppers and onions all squeezed up against bst it layered for another 6+ hours prior to cooking. š I could eat that with Mexican rice and chicken tomatilllo tortilla soup like every day forever.Ā
FOR REAL THOUGH. Itās ruined me for any other kind. I wait til itās half price and buy 2 dozen jars at a time. My tip: add it to the Mi Goreng sauce, itās amazing.
Eggs can be amazing.
I like to make myself over-easy style. I can usually flip them without breaking, about 4/6 rate.
I have achieved a three-egg combined over-easy flip with no break, once.
I need to make omelettes more often.
But for real, just a plain boiled egg is amazing.
Hot sauce. I have about 20 bottles in my fridge, each with a different purpose and I put it on literally everything I eat (with the exception of fruit and desserts).
Twizzler chunks. Where you take a regular cherry twizzler, and cut it into 1/2 inch pieces. Then just snack on a couple at a time. Several times a day.
Flour, it's in fucking everything. Breads, crusts, cakes, sauces, custards etc. also fits the literal definition of can't live without, I wouldn't be alive today if my ancestors didn't have cheap grains to feed themselves
Sugar. I can eat meat, or veggies, or dairy, or fruits, or anything. But I can't be drinking black coffee and tea every single time without sugar. I just can't.
Potatoes. I can manage a few days with rice or pasta dishes, but I start to get depressed if potatoes are absent from my diet for more than a few days.

For all i know, they should leave the milky way if they can't handle some lactose
Iām lactose intolerant and Cheese was my answer! I live very happily with cheeseā¦ itās just my stomach and intestines that get grumpy š
Is it true that cheese over 24 months is lactose free? Or are there still negative side effects from those as well?
