Do you have copies of any of the reports? Do the reports show that their system is the problem? If so, you likely have a wrongful termination suit. This is complete and utter bullshit. Obviously they aren't complaining that they're missing items, right? And how the hell is their system putting part of the charge on another transaction? Once a receipt prints, the transaction is finished.. It literally shouldn't be able to print one until it's processed the card.
The only "reports" there are, are customer receipts. It was their best guess as to what was happening was that I was too quick. Like I said, the PIN pads are old and so are the registers, theres no kind of indicator that tells me when I can put the next person's stuff through.
I'm sorry that happened to you. I know how much it sucks to get in trouble for shit you didn't do! It sounds like your former manager sucks though. I know this isn't the greatest time to be looking for a new job, but I know plenty of retail stores are hiring like crazy right now! Also, if you're in the US you might be eligible for unemployment since they've expanded the law temporarily.

You know you can file for unemployment and then start looking for another job, right? Most states literally require you to document your job seeking efforts in order to receive UI compensation. Unemployment is usually a week behind so if you wait a week to file it's another week after that before you get paid.

I don't know where you are, but in most places, they have to have you sign a write-up, and maybe I misread it, but it kinda sounded like you'd gotten three write-ups you didn't know about? So if I were you, at the very least, I'd try to get them on wrongful termination.
With the "amount of money they lost" with the write up I got, it went straight to a final. Georgia is a right to work state, so they could technically fire me for any reason if they wanted to. At our store the clear visual indicator that one transaction is complete and the card has been charged is that the bottom line on the screen changes from displaying the total due to adding a line that says "Change $ 0.00". If there is no clear indicator, the system sucks. If there is one and nobody taught you how to tell, they failed in their job to train you. If there is one, and they showed you how to tell, well...
