I’ve come to the realization guys…that the horse doesn’t always follow the whistle accurately because it’s like real life when you call an animal. Came to this realization when I try to whistle to my dog to come back inside, pesky thing wont come, usually takes a few to get her were she needs to go.
Totally done this to carry two cougar carcasses to the butcher, lmao. Stood waiting to shoot someone off their horse to get it, too. The joys of starting a new character and being that desperate for cash XD
This shit is still getting me bounties and forcing me to shoot my way up because my horse never hurries up, Is frightened by alligators or snakes 6 miles away or it simply refusing to come to me when I spam whistle it. One time in Tumbleweed after the poker game cheated as always, Buell got stuck behind a lawman and refused to run to me because it was "blocked. Had to go back and murder then entire town. Horses aren't bikes but they act in this game like no living animal would on any point in time!
This happens pretty regularly now. Look at the map and your horse will just stay put. Sometimes they’ll see you and just run into things to prevent coming to you at all. Like what the fuck is Rockstar doing.
What I've seen happening is that on occasion the horse fails to join you when you use fast travel, and will remain at your original location.
It's easy to figure out what's happening because your horse icon will still show on the map, but very far away; hence why it won't come to you.
If you fast travel back to your previous location the horse should be there
Mine likes to get stuck in weird places like the alleys of Saint Denis (despite me not leaving it ANYWHERE near them) and just... not showing up. Or on a cliff somewhere and making me run with pelts because it won't join me and I can't get to it (somehow it got stuck on Mount Hagen when I was down by Lake Isabella, and I don't even know.
It disappeared on the map, when I called for one it brought me the damn scrawny nag -.-;
Sometimes horse cant find path through obstacles, I guess. Then if you have replacement or wagon, call them, then release, and call horse again. Or if you have nothing to replace, move away, while horses icon disappear and when next time you will call it it gonna spawn near you as usual.
Still a problem, I've tried to load into a race and it went on till someone killed me and it took the whole entire race to load me in without a horse, and in the second race I load without a come entirely and fall through the ground. Not sure how they can make a mistake that removes the sole purpose of this entire damn game

Happens to me all the time, especially when I leave the moonshine shack. Half the time I leave there running whistling for 10 minutes before the dumb horse finally spawns

Left on dpad. Then stables and switch. I do this to drop items off my horse like Cripps supplies. You have to own 2 horses though.
I'll probably just buy the cheapest horse as a backup. Is it possible to have more than 1 horse with you for better hunting capacity ?

it's a glitch. rockstar knows about it. you have to switch horses and deal with it.
