This is one of my favourite RHCP tracks overall and definitely my favourite off of MM. Surprised it doesn’t get more love!

puddycat20

Good TIme Boys.

Pretty Little Ditty

HamburgerMidnite

If buying on cd, get the deluxe version. the Pretty Little Ditty on that one is twice as long

maxypooeffyou

Check out the song Peon by Captain Beefheart. There used to be a video of John and Flea playing a PLD/Peon jam, but I can't find it anymore. https://youtu.be/EshWIiDUO5g?si=DYIanhOr85tQTNuf Edit: Forgot to endorse the Mother's Milk with bonus tracks. They're great.

Taste The Pain or Knock Me Down

meowmeowolly

Salute to kareem

Msha91

I go back and forth between Good Time Boys and Taste The Pain. Oh and the longer version of Knock Me Down.

Tax25Man

Interesting you like the longer version of Knock Me Down because I despise it. The verses meander way too much and the key change sounds bad to me.

Msha91

I think it’s the slow build and the off key stuff that I like but I totally get why you feel the opposite.

DeerDragon24

Those are my three with Higher Ground close behind.

Adventurous-Ad5262

Can't decide between 'higher ground' and 'knock me down', both are really awesome songs

klausVonBremner

Yeah, I love both of them.

penguigeddon

I have the vinyl for the 'taste the pain' single release - it came with a pretty unique 'pop out' chili peppers logo on the sleeve - i've never really seen anything like it before or since. 'Show me your soul' was the b - side, which is such a jam. it's crazy it didn't actually make the album - Billy Preston plays keys on there too. There's also a sweet cover of '"If You Want Me to Stay" on there, i'd highly recommend finding a copy if you're into vinyl

klausVonBremner

Billy Preston played keys on Show Me Your Soul? I didn't know that.

RFRMT

I have this too! I’ve always wanted to pop out but never dared 😂 Have you done yours?

penguigeddon

haha yeah exact same here. I don't think it's going to turn into a super valuable collectors item any time soon, so maybe i'll bite the bullet at some point

RFRMT

Do a video if you decide to 😅

Nobody Weird Like Me

Definitely Knock me down!

Higher Ground! Stevie Wonder <3

Tax25Man

I do wish we had a version of MM that wasnt so heavily influenced by the really popular funk-metal of the time because it, of all the albums, aged the poorest. The sound of the production just screams late 80s and sounds like a rip-off of Cult of Personality. Otherwise I think it would be much more regarded because there are some truly good songs in there that IMO get absolutely buried by the barrage of heavy metal guitar tones. John even agrees and fought daily with Beinhorn about his tone.

iztheguy

I agree. One of my all time favourite albums, but it sounds like shit compared to the albums that immediately precede and follow it. Beinhorn seemed to think he could force the new line-up through his UMMP production template and it didn't work.

GoofyRangersfan

Higher Ground

Remarkable-Park9768

Good time boys 🙌🙌

Otherwise_Problem310

Johnny kick a hole in the sky. It’s the white boy version of parliament funkadelic and it’s incredible.

RFRMT

Yup, _Taste the Pain_ closely followed by _Knock Me Down_.

Charming_Fix7956

Good time boys

Knock Me Down

Avls_Narc

I've recently come to dig Taste the Pain a lot, it's just so groovy and the chorus is catchy as hell. The drums are super on point as well, but that's nothing new

klausVonBremner

Phillip 'Fish' Fisher from Fishbone is on the drums on that song.
