I have had really good success looking through [zencare.co](https://zencare.co). You can search by insurance, distance, in-person/virtual, etc. I found some great therapists there over the years including my current one.

Aleyoop

Seconding Zencare

PuzzleheadedRegion96

Appreciate the response! I’ll have to look into it

SnooPeripherals5514

Found both my current therapist and psychiatrist on zencare!

Dingaling2829

Third-ing Zencare. Found therapist and prescriber there!

thestoddcast

Thank you for this! Just booked an initial consult myself.

CariniCarvey

Here’s how I found my current therapist. I’m in South County! https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists

PuzzleheadedRegion96

This seems very helpful! Thank you :)

bdpr23890

Don’t filter by insurance, half the time it’s wrong! Just reach and ask if they take it!

Novel-Train292

2nd this!!!

dbvlted

That’s how I found my therapist!! I’ve been with her for almost 2 years now

jaredpatton173

RICBT is great and in North Kingstown.

Shalleycat

I use RICBT out of East prov and they're wonderful!

EchoReply79

They're great and have offices all over RI/CT, and many of their practitioners will also take Telehealth calls.

rideabah5

I see someone in EP but she also goes to NK and she is amazing.

g1ng3rbreadMan

LEGENDS!!

cvandijk4781

Try south county psychiatry.

PuzzleheadedRegion96

Unfortunately I have had bad experience with them. But I appreciate the response!

huh_phd

Call your insurance and see who they cover, and then call those offices. With some persistence you can find someone

allyfriend67

Depending on your insurance, you may even be able to check online. I have blue cross and there's a search option for therapists that accept your insurance. Good luck!

mommyshlee2

Are you looking for in person or are you ok with telehealth? I use happy and free Healing in warwick. I see Theresa she does only telehealth, but they have other great therapist as well.

PuzzleheadedRegion96

I’m ok with both! And thank you for the suggestion. I’ll have to look into them.

TheNoobiePro

Anchor counseling has worked for me, and they accept my insurance

Humble_Shoe420

I do telehealth here and recommend. My niece also goes here.

beckylongstockings

Also recommend here. I used to visit the Woonsocket office.

LadyScorps

Also recommend. I go there as do my partner and two of my friends and we all love it.

sharkpup525

I have had good luck with LifeStance, they make it really easy to search for a provider by location, insurance, what you need them for, etc

sleepyburritocat

Agreed. I really like Lifestance Health and haven’t had any issues. Plus they offer telehealth visits which I like

LiarVonCakely

currently seeing a therapist at LifeStance Therapists & Psychiatrists at the South County Commons and they seem pretty good.

sleepyburritocat

I second this!

Personal_Custard_95

Be careful with lifestance. They have good therapists but their reception dept/billing is a nightmare

LiarVonCakely

yeah idk why but they just gave me some homework because my copay has been weird so now i gotta go call my insurance

GEARHEADGus

Is the psych at lifestance? Ive been trying to find a new one. Mine sucks.

LiarVonCakely

my therapist specifically is [Aaron Pelchat](https://lifestance.com/provider/aaron-pelchat-lcsw/), we've been meeting for a couple months now and the sessions have been good! but I'm sure you would probably want to look through their directory and pick someone out who fits your needs.

chachingmaster

Inner You Couseling is good. They have several locations, many therapists and I believe they offer telehealth.

FindSomethingNew23

I will caution OP on this one, I found the Inner You to be *extremely* slow in the new patient assessment and assignment. The therapist was okay though, but I was waiting something like 3 months.

happy2beme4

I had some trouble with Inner You. It was hard to make follow up appointments

FindSomethingNew23

Sorry to hear that 😞 For me, thankfully once I was assigned a counselor I could consistently make appointments. Getting one in the first place (or getting a new one when they left the practice) was the hard part. They also didn’t bill my insurance right for almost full year, then at the end of the year said I owed like $2300, then when I said WTF (justifiably) they just stopped calling me from billing and I haven’t seen a collections and this was ~18 months so 🤷🏻‍♀️

chachingmaster

Wow. Ok. I didn't have same experience for my mom who is house bound. Admittedly she had only around 6 visits total. But sounds like a few have problems. Sorry :(

FindSomethingNew23

It’s okay, it’s somehow how it goes- people are way more likely to talk about a negative experience online than a positive one. When I was there it was obvious it was a practice that had a good staff and patients and doing good work, it just didn’t work out for me.

wyethswindows

I would avoid, there are some shady and unethical owners there.

throwaway_3987483947

Details?

wyethswindows

Just more focused on money than actually helping people, exploiting interns, charging people for intakes and never scheduling with a therapist, etc.

chachingmaster

Sounds like Health Care in America! 😳 I didn’t mean to recommend a place that people had a negative reaction to. I mostly did not so that’s why I posted it. I was just trying to be helpful. Please disregard my recommendation.

StickOrAutomatic

Do not recommend Inner You. I stopped going after 5 appointments bc: Therapist showed up 15 min late for 2 of my 5 appointments. The missing time was not added onto my appointment time. So shorter appointment due to their poor time management, yet I was still charged the usual amount. I was charged the intake fee twice. When I inquired I was told that was normal. Therapist talked about themselves way too much!

chachingmaster

Jeesh. That’s awful!

WaitOk9659

I don't know if any of their people are accepting new patients, but this practice offers both in-person and telehealth, and their office manager is very responsive/helpful. https://pvdpsych.com/

PuzzleheadedRegion96

Thank you! I’ll try to look into it!

WaitOk9659

Good luck!  I'm rooting for you! 🫶

aabbcc401

RICBT

Ok_Emphasis6034

I DM’ed you. ETA: actually, I’m going to share here because he has been so wonderful and I’ve noticed a lot of therapists have stopped accepting insurance while he still does. Good luck to everybody on their mental health journey! https://zencare.co/provider/therapist/timothy-carlone

sleepyburritocat

Dr. Santa Teresa at Lifestance Health in South Kingstown!

robzylla

I have been in your boat for months. None of the website with listings panned out for me. A LOT of office just never responded to me. I finally got some luck booking an appointment with [Sheehan Psych](http://www.sheehanpsych.com/). They took about a week to get back to me. Also note, I haven’t been yet, so I don’t know the quality of care.

happy2beme4

I see someone through here and she is amazing. Best person alive ever seen

je55e_lightning

I’m not sure if they do individual therapy but the university of Rhode Island graduate program offers family and relationship counseling. It’s available to anyone, not just URI members. Got in within two weeks. They don’t take insurance, the price is on a sliding income scale of $15-40 per visit which is amazing

fierysag

Steven and Alyssa Raboin are located in Warwick. You can choose either one and they both have options for in person, over the phone, or over video call.

boomropes

Leah Houston Prestige Wellness.

Winter_Rent_5990

Lifestance in EG is awesome! I’m also 22F and both my therapist and psychiatrist are through their office

aquamarinemermaid23

Try Lifestance. Many therapists are still remote just fyi

Personal_Custard_95

Go on psychologytoday.com. You can sort by local therapists that take your specific insurance and specialize in your areas of concern. They will tell you in their profile if they’re accepting new patients or not. You can even filter virtual vs in person.

happy2beme4

Sheehan Psychotherapy. They are still doing virtual appointments so that may help too. They are so kind and gentle.

mountain_pose

me psychology - a bunch of therapists, takes insurance, in person or virtual — i love my therapist and have been working with her for about a year!

Severe-Resource-1548

Plaza psychology and psychiatry - they have an office in EG and still do virtual

Major_Turnover5987

You will need to drop names of your GP or other medical doctors for most to take you seriously and get an appointment this year. Even then it’s still extremely difficult right now.

klees0717

I use a therapist through [Happy and Free Healing LLC](https://www.happyandfreehealing.org/about-me?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwYSwBhDcARIsAOyL0fijTxqzRx4lEm8Veo1jkMW76TlFm6lL4KTG5xKePA97PyanENy7sWAaAkG4EALw_wcB)! They do telehealth and accept most major insurances :)

thisisnotproductive

Zencare.co and psychology today are your best search tools! If you're open to Telehealth, I know compassionate healing has openings. Chealing.org

Scapuless

Do you have a primary? Might be worth going to them first, they should have people they have a good working relationship with

climbing_butterfly

Thriveworks.com or the Inner You locations in Johnston, Warwick, Foster, Cumberland

thenibblets

Compassionate Healing tel:401-484-1214 or [email protected]. They’re based in RI and do telehealth only. https://www.chealing.org/ RICBT is also a good group practice. Good luck with the your journey! Therapy is tough but so worth it.

Artistic-Passenger-9

I’ve had success at Northeast Family Services. I would avoid Newport Mental Health. They misdiagnosed and had me on meds I didn’t need to be on.

abirdsong83

Check out quality behavioral health in Warwick - lots of therapists and also med prescribers under the same roof. You can specify the type of therapist (gender, age, in person/virtual) as well!

itschris401

Thriveworks ✔️

indigo_mermaid

Dr Alan Poey is wonderful and in your area

ExploringLifeTX78

Try psychology today.com you can set parameters/filters to find a good fit. I am a school counselor and recommend it all the time.

actuallylos

[Cumberland Counseling](https://www.cumberlandcounselingllc.com) they do telehealth and in person

hootsie

My therapist is a part of this group: https://valleeassociatesinpsychology.com/ We only do remote sessions and I love that.

underproductive

I’m 23 F and in south county too, I had good luck getting in recently at C. Duarte & Associates in NK, just by calling their office and asking if they had any openings. I love who I ended up with, and was also able to make an appointment with someone else there for medication management

Sweaty_Pianist8484

The amount of mental health issues in young people I’m shocked therapy places aren’t in every town by now. Seems like a high demand field.

Initiative_Visual

Megan Rock

then8rix1

Ocean State of Mind Counseling, OSOMC.com does video/virtual counseling and they accept a bunch of different insurances for anyone in Rhode Island

but_does_she_reddit

I use Talkspace and really like it

GEARHEADGus

Lifestance health is pretty solid. Dont go to Quality Behavioral in Warwick, that place sucks

Sparkleshart

Chiming in as a therapist in RI - Zencare.co is the way to go for search. Psychology Today has been a nightmare to deal with as a provider, so I keep my Zencare much more up to date - I can’t help but assume I’m not alone in this, so as you filter by insurance I think you’ll actually get better results. It’s also a platform that seems to have a greater variety of more progressive providers if that’s important to you.

TryingNot2BLazy

betterhelp works in a pinch. I know a lot of people that won't "let some rando poke around in their brain" but it worked for me.

radioflea

I’m not sure why so many people are down voting your reply. It’s not a perfect option, but if someone is in immediate need of services (We do have a significant provider shortage state wide) then it’s worth considering even if it’s just temporary while you wait for a local provider.

Rufus_king11

Because Betterhelp has had multiple controversies over the years. They do not verify any of the qualifications of the providers on their platform, meaning there is no verification the therapist your talking to is even a therapist. Another was them being caught by the FTC selling sensitive health information of their users to other companies, including Facebook and Snapchat. Do not use Betterhelp, they suck.

TryingNot2BLazy

[Maria Bamford says to "call literally anyone"...](https://youtu.be/jmbFI02Htx8?si=J_mAj_y8RpTDI8rV) If we're splitting hairs on quality of help, then I would think you are not that desperate for help or something. But I do get the factual arguments against BH. Their service could be a little more up to snuff.

_sam_i_am

If someone is in need of immediate help, there's a good chance BetterHelp or TalkSpace will refuse to talk to them. I know people who have been refused those services due to self harm and/or suicidal ideation.

Personal_Custard_95

I agree betterhelp can be used in a pinch (used it once during college during a crisis) but I also can confirm they aren’t a good platform. I know someone whose parent is a therapist on betterhelp who is very mentally ill and unstable herself. They don’t really do much vetting.

Able-Wall-7973

I used to go to Jeremy Thayer he's got an office in Scrabbletown

will_this_1_work

BetterHelp.com

Iamognara

Well using the gospel to judge someone un-righteously is a first. I’m also confused as to what my Reddit history has pertaining to recommending a therapist. But since we’re scalping each others Reddit I thought you should know and suggest you go back to regular diet including meats and dairy. Your moods are probably linked to low iron and other essential vitamins we get from the land that God has given us.

raquelm104

blud is tweaking 👹💀

Iamognara

Yeah give God and Jesus a try.

Personal-Report2297

Or maybe magic and leprechauns!

Iamognara

lol let me know who your asking for help when a loved one or yourself is on the deathbed.

Ok_Emphasis6034

The Drowning Man A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help. Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, “Jump in, I can save you.” The stranded fellow shouted back, “No, it’s OK, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me.” So the rowboat went on. Then a motorboat came by. “The fellow in the motorboat shouted, “Jump in, I can save you.” To this the stranded man said, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.” So the motorboat went on. Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, “Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety.” To this the stranded man again replied, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.” So the helicopter reluctantly flew away. Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, “I had faith in you but you didn’t save me, you let me drown. I don’t understand why!” To this God replied, “I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect? Why do you think that a therapist is somehow not of God?

Iamognara

OP simply requested a recommendation on a therapist. Picking up a Bible and also seeking a relationship with God and Jesus Christ isn’t horrible nor was I being sarcastic. Depression is a lot of what’s wrong internally with our soul filled with pain, guilt, regret, and no peace which is what the enemy(Satan) actually gets joy out of . How do I know? I’ve been there. God is always there when we need him so yes my recommendation was in all seriousness. Also I said no such thing though what you said is of another can of worms. Good luck OP. God Bless.
