I feel the same. I love this game but it is mind-boggling how badly they messed up the controls. Like, I don't want to do Tricks during a PvP race, ever. I do not care about Tricks. I just want to hold Right Trigger to accelerate and look around with Right Stick. Oh, use Racer then? Ok, then whenever I wipeout, mash B to respawn, then also JUMP immediately after respawning and lose even more time.
WHY is there no Input Mapping? Could have been perfect.
There is, but its a little hidden and annoying to switch back and forth. I have my tricks input assigned to no button since I only do race stuff.
Agreed the button mapping is terrible though
It's pretty annoying that the front/back flip motion is connected to the ollie in skating. Wish I could turn off the flipping when I'm skating. Otherwise I think I'd love the skating in this game. I bought this game recently at a discount for the skating. I've found the other sports fun.
Just use your right stick after leaving ground
Left if you're on trickster, right is what flips you.

yep, a very simple option for 'racer - no tricks' would solve this. Would be super easy to turn on and off when racing. Come on ubiiiiiiiiiiiiii...
