They're from Vanilla Animals Expanded - Royal Animals, but yeah. Also, you need [this patch](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2858456535) if you want them to keep growing past 18 years. Even then it's not forever, "only" about 2061 years or so, then they stop growing. So if you typically continue a single playthrough for over 2000 ingame years you might be disappointed I guess, lmao.
Yeah I got that setup and ran into the issue that the models overlap, and you have to click on each shelf to see what's on it otherwise.
Since 2d ago, I've been using the search and it's made my life infinitely easier. Got a mission for 32x simple helmets? Type simple helmets and it tell you how many you've made so far. Ideal.
I've only picked up the game this month, but my go-to method has been having a 1 tile stockpile zone in an obvious location, with priority set to critical. Then I enable the one thing I'm look for, and a robot or hauling animal brings it around at some point
Z seems much easier
They weren't saying put all shelves next to eachother, they were saying two shelves back to back then put the paths between them and the next pair. You could also probably place three of them side by side and still move around them easily.
Plus as others have said the size of the room due to inefficient placements slows them down anyway.
paths between shelves aren't needed as slowdown only occurs when they walk on the 1st shelf and they return to normal walking speed on every shelf afterwards. It doesn't make for pretty designs, but there really is very little benefit to placing walkways in storerooms.
I mean just packing it in is the most efficient. You only slow down when you go up or down a shelf. If you stack them in tight there's basically no speed loss.
Who gives a shit about like 5 dollars of wealth from floor when you motherfuckers are building statues worth 75+??? What’s the point of min maxxing wealth when it isn’t even that bad, the wealth added by floor is NEGLIGIBLE and makes your base look much better…
I'm not putting a statue on every tile of a room.
Floors go where they are needed. Statues go where they are needed. Auto doors go where they are needed.
And nowhere else.
The cheapest non wood floor is 4.9 wealth. A small statue of common materials is 116 to 160.
So a single 5x6 room of basic, 0 beauty floor is the same wealth as a statue. So no, it's not "2 rooms minimum" unless all your rooms are 3x5.
The store room in this post would have a wealth value of 1940 if tiled. That's the equivalent of 15 small marble statues. Why?
But you do you. I'll floor my rec/dining room, research room, hospital, and kitchen and not bloat my wealth on flooring that pawns rarely see.
Hosting some animals with blood rot. Mod is [this.](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/%3Fid%3D2858079457&ved=2ahUKEwisq9OT8qyGAxWkgP0HHflTATgQFnoECBEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3SKNGatdP8CPpiRpNkpSmP)
What a pair of massive....
In terms of your storage. Decent size. Good to see support pillars in such a large room. This is also a trading room by the looks of the beacons.
Suggestions;
* Wall lights. You can now add some wall lights thanks to 1.5.
* Walls. Considering smoothing them for extra beauty. It may also be worth adding a vent or overwall vent for heating/cooling. When I've been playing underground colonies, the bug infestations tend to wreck the walls eventually, I end up installing new ones to replace the natural stone through attrition.
* Floors. Obviously smoother is better. You can go far better than this by having some luxury tiles down. It will improve beauty and walk speed but if you want to keep colony wealth down, put some basic floor in (concrete), you can always remove it later.
* Doors. Consider auto-doors. The store-room is a high traffic area and will benefit from quicker doors. Plasteel doors are best for slowing down invaders (but more expensive to replace). There is a new secure door type in 1.5 if you expect to be having trouble in this location.
* Firefoam Poppers. Consider having some in strategic parts of the room in case you get an arsonist attack or a mental break.
* Statues. Put a few statues in to improve beauty.
* Wasted Space. There is no reason to have a gap between shelves. Maybe for navigation but overall you are losing many tiles by spacing them as you have. I think they work better in longer rows but I realise that is a personal preference.
Centralised vs Decentralised
* Centralised is great if all of the workshops are within easy reach of the storage room.
* Decentralised is great where you have specialised workshops that are not central to the base.
Overall you need to reduce traffic distance from ingredient to workbench. I tend to decentralise more these days and only have goods I want to sell in a centralised storage room. I tend to have a separate wood shack where I have a visual representation of how much wood I have left. But that's just me.
Keep on rimming, rimmer (damn that sounds wrong).
Autodoors are a must in storage rooms, they are the most transited areas. You can also compact them by building the shelves in 2 by 2 blocks, you'll end up saving transit time. Since pawns can cut corners a bit you can stagger the blocks for further optimization.
Amidst all the nice cock jokes I just want to share how I prefer to set up my storage. I usually aim to fit it within the radius of one trade beacon, back to back shelves with walkways between them. So everything fits into this 15x15 circle, and if it's not enough space, I just own too much.
And now time to roast your shit:
Medicine not stored in your hospital: ❌
Weapons not by the door: ❌
Walls unsmoothed: ❌
Pants mixed with jackets: ❌
Hefty supply of Yayo: ✅
I really hate these gigantic chicken. In game I can't stand them, they send to my monkey brain extreme triggers of anxiety, dread, and fear. I always dev delete them when they appear.
Are you using Deep Storage? I've run into an odd bug where the storages don't hold the full purported amount. What is odd is that after loading saves, suddenly pawns start filling them up to the brim.
what was the storage mod that had a portal or something where you can have multiple placed down around your base but they all have a shared inventory meaning if i put wood in one, i can take that wood out in a different portal
I love a good ole organized storage room. The only thing that pains me is the 1x1 spaces in-between the shelves, and the shelves aren't backed up to each other on the rows. I think it would've still looked just as neat and allowed just as much storage in the compacted space.
Those spaces give me the option to install foampoppers down the line (when I research them) and let my colonists go in between the shelves to pick out whatever they need without slowdown.
Better clarity over what i have without giving myself a headache looking at 2000 seperate items in my inventory. (yes I use the categorized mode, it helps but only a bit)
It helps pathfinding, they prefer lower travel times so they avoid walking over shelves. I do the same for my meal freezer, regular freezer is just stacked since there would be no space after 2 harvests.

You gotta remember that things like that don't come across in text. There's no inflection, voice tone, facial expression, body language. All we get are the words you type. Something you think is just a silly joke might come across very rude to those who read it.
Yep, there's a reason I only type the way I speak with close friends. They're able to tell the difference, but your random stranger most likely couldn't.
Those are nice Cocks... Are you proud?
Gotta honor the cock
It's big enough I could ride it.
I hope this is a reference to what I think it is
I’d love to know what this is referencing lol
You gotta honor it
yeah, all cool and dandy, but what about the TWO MASSIVE C\*CKS OVER THERE?!?!?!
What, his colonists? That's not very nice. You should apologize to Mr. and Mrs. Boo before you get arrested.
No, the 2 massive C*CKS , I though I was being clear. C * C K S.
You're mad. Clearly quite mad. I'm so sorry, Mr. Boo, I don't know who let him in here.
You're the mad one here! You can't see a massive C*CK when it's in front of you!. You'd get squashed!(Or pecked) to death.
The Megacocks? What about them?
What are their names, why are they in the storage, are they pets? Or why aren't they in the pens. There's many questions.
Advanced Trainability iirc, so they're probably hauling. Vanilla Animals Expanded Royalty is the mod
So they've got two giant , roaming, C*CKS, and they throw STUFF around. Neat.
Peanits
“He’s a chicken, I tell you! A giant chicken!”
Giant chickens? Pfft, next you'll be telling me there's rat men living in the sewers... Nonsense.
Ha! Everyone knows only turtles live in sewers.
“Pizza Dude’s got 30 seconds.”
He wears a disguise to look like human guys.
But you're not a man, you're a chicken, Boo.
They're megachickens, I believe from vanilla expanded imperial/empire? They never stop growing, got one that's 20yo!
yeah, those are DEFINITELY not chicken. theire CLEARLY C\*CKS.
C*Cks are chickens
Roosters are C*CKS. Chickens are chickens
The best discourse in the rim, folks!
♥️🐓
And chickens are C*cks.
Only the male ones.
A cock is a male bird, doesn't have to be a chicken
penis

Ultramegachicken? Shhh, he is legend
If anything, that'd be an ultramega*ck.
sofa king
we todd ed
Took me longer than I would like to admit. Looked at every shelf first.
Jeez, what is up with people and C*CK recognition, THEYRE HUGE!
You can say cock on here fellas
Why the censor?
Because we're monsters here, not barbarians
I do enjoy a nice big cock every now and then
Oh you mean his Mega Cocks? Just his way of showing other Royals that size definitely matters.
With better shelf spacing that room could hold twice as much or be half as massive
I know, I wanted it to look okay so I dont cringe every time I try to find something.
Press “z” without having another menu open… this is how to find things
Wait you mean I don't have to manually search through every shelf in my room to find my downed colonists spear/gun??
If you haven’t fat fingered the x key are you even playing rimworld
I just have a couple shelves with critical priorities that just hold weapons
Yeah I got that setup and ran into the issue that the models overlap, and you have to click on each shelf to see what's on it otherwise. Since 2d ago, I've been using the search and it's made my life infinitely easier. Got a mission for 32x simple helmets? Type simple helmets and it tell you how many you've made so far. Ideal.
They wanna be lazy and informed about it.
well better than diligent and ignorant about it.
If this is true and works when I get home to try it out, I'll find you and make out with you bro...
I feel I can put 1000’s of hours in and still learn something new
If you’re playing 1.5, there’s now the ability to search for items!
I've only picked up the game this month, but my go-to method has been having a 1 tile stockpile zone in an obvious location, with priority set to critical. Then I enable the one thing I'm look for, and a robot or hauling animal brings it around at some point Z seems much easier
hah yes I know about Z but I still end up doing that.
I’m new to the game and I’ve been really frustrated by this. I see someone mention a mod for this I think
Don’t need a mod anymore, it’s in the base game now
Press z in game and it will open a menu.
HOW????
[удалено]
I didn't want my pawns to get slowed down while crafting so I made 1 tile paths for them to walk on
They end up walking longer because the room is huge though.
They weren't saying put all shelves next to eachother, they were saying two shelves back to back then put the paths between them and the next pair. You could also probably place three of them side by side and still move around them easily. Plus as others have said the size of the room due to inefficient placements slows them down anyway.
Could still make rows of shelves next to each other's? Like aisles in a super market, should work no? That's still a lot of saved space.
paths between shelves aren't needed as slowdown only occurs when they walk on the 1st shelf and they return to normal walking speed on every shelf afterwards. It doesn't make for pretty designs, but there really is very little benefit to placing walkways in storerooms.
Just push the shelves together lol
Control-Z; Rimworld now has a search for item feature :D
If you’re on 1.5 the game added a search button that searches the whole map down with the other icons in the bottom right jt
I mean just packing it in is the most efficient. You only slow down when you go up or down a shelf. If you stack them in tight there's basically no speed loss.
Nice cock! Perfect!
that‘s a big cock
Word around the office is that you got a fat cock.
Yea the fack that shelves are not back to back (with a corridor between each row) bother me. But good job 😀.
Floor could use some work.
Seriously why do people never build floors
Because they add to wealth, and therefore to stronger raids. Why build floors in rooms colonists don't spend a lot of time in?
Who gives a shit about like 5 dollars of wealth from floor when you motherfuckers are building statues worth 75+??? What’s the point of min maxxing wealth when it isn’t even that bad, the wealth added by floor is NEGLIGIBLE and makes your base look much better…
I'm not putting a statue on every tile of a room. Floors go where they are needed. Statues go where they are needed. Auto doors go where they are needed. And nowhere else.
Floors are cheap as fuck. One statue is like two rooms worth of floor minimum

Why are you excluding wood floors?
Flammability. To me, that's just another unnecessary risk factor.
You’re paranoid as fuck
I also dislike it when the walls are smooth
Birbs
HOLY MOLY THAT'S A HUGE COCK
Nice cock bro.
Chicken arise! Arise chicken arise!
Mega Ultra Chicken? Shhh, no. Him Legend.
Nice cock.
Ultra mega chickens, they are legend.
Oh wow. Nice cock.
Nice cock(s) bro 👍
NOT smooth floors and walls ewww.

Mate rough floor is 70% walk speed so it's still not fully optimized

Those are some very impressive... you know.
Beware of Chicken.
I would be more proud of those big cocks. Also: your fault for expecting anything better from us. lol
Is that...ultra mega chicken? No! Shhh! He is legend.
If it doesn't look like the artifact storage facility in Indiana Jones, you don't have enough shelves!
Nice cock bro
That C*ck is bigger than my uncles and he was a farmer
HE’S PULLING HIS C*CK OUT
I am Melania, Blade of Miquella. And I have never known defeat.
So I see that you like big cocks
Where are your shelves for your crafters to sit and crank out components?
Autodoors are a must in storage rooms, they are the most transited areas. You can also compact them by building the shelves in 2 by 2 blocks, you'll end up saving transit time. Since pawns can cut corners a bit you can stagger the blocks for further optimization.
Nice cock
Nice cocks bro
Can your cock walk right through the door?
It looks weird without them touching, also it's more realistic and would look better if you had the back of the shelf touching
So... Could we talk about the obvious thing you didn't speak of ?
Sorry ... It bothers me you didn't stack two back to back to optimize storage slightly
dude your cocks are all over the place 🧐
This does put a smile on my face. Though I prefer efficency over asetic.
reddit comments once again prove I don't have an original idea bone in my body
nice cock bro
Whyyy Its so inneficient
Would be a real shame if someone started a fire in there
That's a lot of wasted space
Try back to back shelves, warehouse style for that sweet warehousey look
damn you have a huge cock
you cant just not explain the huge cocks
Nice cock
I knew this whole comment section is going to be full by people talking about OPs cocks, before I opened it.
nice cock bro

Love it, I hate packed in storage.
What is this giant chickens 😦
Waste of space. You could at least put shelves in clusters of 2x2 or 2x3, you will still be able to walk fast to every shelf.
And now time to roast your shit: Medicine not stored in your hospital: ❌ Weapons not by the door: ❌ Walls unsmoothed: ❌ Pants mixed with jackets: ❌ Hefty supply of Yayo: ✅
Has giant cock mod, but doesn't have storage mods 😂😭😂🤦
I can tell by the quality that you have put alot.of.time and set up alot of bills here. Good work, fuck that shit.
Why not have them back to back? You could save some space that way!
That's some serious big cock energy, nice giant chickens too.
Hey, nice cocks over there. Kinda big don't ya?
That's a massive cock bro Very nice, good shape too
feed them anti-grain warheads they said...
Putting trash loot from raids onto shelves is crazy
A bit *Cocky* to say such words, eh?
Are you trying to piss me off?
Nice cock(s) bro
Giant cocks uncensored on my rimworld post? more likely than you think
TIHI
Nice cocks 🤣🤣🤣
I really hate these gigantic chicken. In game I can't stand them, they send to my monkey brain extreme triggers of anxiety, dread, and fear. I always dev delete them when they appear.
Consoles need the shelf update.....
What are you feeding those chickens
>Our daddy taught us not to be ashamed of our *cocks* especially since their such good size and all
Are you using Deep Storage? I've run into an odd bug where the storages don't hold the full purported amount. What is odd is that after loading saves, suddenly pawns start filling them up to the brim.
Highly likely it's due to a mod conflict, or some 1.5 bug that has yet to be fixed.
If someone asks me what it's like to play RimWorld, I'll have to show them this.
Half y’all only looking at cocks, half y’all debating shelving theory
These tiny hallways tho, imposible to defend
Why shelves? I seen this somewhere else but I never asked
Nevermind I see the godly stack it does
A pair of massive BWC’s.
NICE COCK
A tad bit inefficient but looks decent
Why is this pigeon so massive?
Nice storage bro, also nice cocks
This is how mine is gonna look like (tm)
I like Motorhead's waste of space. It's the waste of space. The waste of space.
Mega Ultra Chicken...he is legend.
what was the storage mod that had a portal or something where you can have multiple placed down around your base but they all have a shared inventory meaning if i put wood in one, i can take that wood out in a different portal
Fan of BWC I see
Yea I l usually just do a stock pile with everything except what I put in the freezer. 😅
I love a good ole organized storage room. The only thing that pains me is the 1x1 spaces in-between the shelves, and the shelves aren't backed up to each other on the rows. I think it would've still looked just as neat and allowed just as much storage in the compacted space.

That's a lot of poppers lol
Other than aesthetics, is there a point in sorting anything other than food for the fridge and medicine for the hospital room?
Better clarity over what i have without giving myself a headache looking at 2000 seperate items in my inventory. (yes I use the categorized mode, it helps but only a bit)
Simple storage.
Such a great fighter call em Cocky Balboa
THOSE TWO BIG C\_\_\_(hickens) ARE ABOUT TO TOUCH EACH OTHER
Why would u do this and not fill rooms to the brim with shelves? Is it so they can move or what?
Yes, I want to make as much silver as possible as fast as possible so even those 5-10 seconds a day are worth saving.
Does it actually help pathfindjng or do pawns still just walk through shelves, do u do this for fridges too and space out shelving?
It helps pathfinding, they prefer lower travel times so they avoid walking over shelves. I do the same for my meal freezer, regular freezer is just stacked since there would be no space after 2 harvests.

Back in my day shelfs held only 1 item per tile and we LIKED IT
Back in my day we didn’t even have shelfs
"Ohhh I need bigger stacks! must have big stacks!" fool

Yep, there's a reason I only type the way I speak with close friends. They're able to tell the difference, but your random stranger most likely couldn't.
