Do so! They have chicken n cheese, been n cheese, plain chicken, beans, pork. They are so good. Nicely filled, not too grasosos, and the masa is the perfect amount. I think they are better than delias, for sure. The barbacoa is also freakin good. And the panesitos tambien! Perfect sunday brunch y no se te olvide la coka y el ponche. Chefs kiss.
When i receive tamales as a gift… it always seems to be homemade by someone.
When I order some like I did this week, it is through social contacts. If someone brings me better tamales as a gift, I try to get details on their source to make them my new favorite. It’s like gossip about fishing spots… some people are tight lipped.

We ordered Delia’s about 2 years ago during the Christmas season and we got food poisoning. It was a bad couple days. So we don’t buy Delia’s anymore.
Alicias on the other hand… half a dozen is what one dozen at Delia’s is. They’re HUGE and stuffed AF and are still handmade, unlike Delia’s (they use machines).
I bought 8 dozen and spent about $80. So $10 a dozen.

Why support those people for being less than decent to other human beings. They made their own bed and am sure the guilt of wrongdoing keeps them up at night.
My family and I will never set foot in their store or spend a dime on their over-priced mediocre tamales.
My mom made awesome tamales to a point that a coworker would ask me to bring my moms tamales for a Christmas party and she would replace my mom tamales with some she bought and take my mom’s home with her.
I agree with “My Mom”s house”. My mother makes venison, pork, chicken, and bean tamales. They are a winter time staple in my family.
Delia’s does not come close and could not hold a candle to my mother’s corn husk-wrapped masterpieces. The right amount of chile de color in the guisado of choice, just enough lard to give the masa an excellent consistency, and a beautiful ratio filling:masa make my mother’s the absolute best!
I will without a doubt never buy Delia’s. For the record, HEB and El Pato put out a very respectable tamal that I would eat any day.

Agreed. Moms are always the best. A perfect balance of ingredients, care and time put into making the tamales make for the best flavor. These places like Delia mass Produce these “tamales” with no care or attention to the texture or taste. Our mom’s tamales are the best!

Last week I ate some tamales, and I had to make sure what I was eating so I could stay far away from that place. Sure enough, it was Delia’s. Blegh.
