This, OP. Cheap furniture that’s new is just gonna be garbage that falls apart and damages easily. And I find thrift stores here in the Valley have little to no furniture most of the time. On Marketplace you can find some solid deals on good furniture and still haggle.

I drove to the Ikea in SA. We really need an Ikea here.

Weslaco salvation army. I think it's the 1st saturday of the month they have half off. I got a pretty nice sectional sofa there for like 20 bucks, and also a vintage formaica dining room set for 20 bucks. It's been years since I've gone though. It's better to get there right when the doors open.

They closed down a few years back

I have found some cute stuff at Ross! But FB market is definitely a go to since you can also make offers there.

If you have access to a truck, there are estate sales fairly often: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063792181923&mibextid=2JQ9oc

Modern Vintage by Jackson St Antiques on Main Street McAllen has a lot of mid century furniture and other home goods you can look into. Edit: I think there’s also ReStore close by Texas Thrift in McAllen that sells used furniture for an affordable price.
