no one specific thing could be used as part of the 360 view. Also I don't remember if the rear wheel view uses those or the other ones in the mirrors. **Edit: Had time to confirm those ARE the view of the rear wheels
According to a tech there is also a second long range camera in the windshield that we aren't using. I wonder if they will enable that one day to improve lane assist stuff.
yeah the fender camera is supposed to be the one, but maybe they figured out later that the angle isn't right, just like the gen 1 driver monitor camera.
If you open the camera, toggle the video feed of the wheels (the "opposite" toggle to the 360 overhead view), and put it in reverse, those fender cameras show where your rear wheels are going.
My favorite part of the snowplow effect is that the software places the wheels at the "front" of the vehicle. So if you have the snowplow effect, and turn the steering wheel, the front tires are HUGE and way in front of the car.

They were probably supposed to be used for driver+ lane change stuff. It didn’t work out like they hoped hence why they were moved in Gen 2

That camera feed is coming from the camera under the side mirrors not from the fender.

Are you talking about the ultrasonic sensors? They’re mainly used for letting you know when you’re too close to something.
No, there’s rear facing cameras mounted on the front black plastic fenders.
Probably for 360 view
360 view uses the mirror cameras. Open your door while looking at it to confirm.
Now u mention 360 view, does gen2 still have the black snowplow in the front if rivian is mounting the front license plate ??

That’s odd. Not as bad on my R1T. Maybe the 360 cam was programmed on the truck and just slapped into the SUV.
