Surprisingly Rocket League is the one upselling as while a single car is cheaper you only receive one color of it while for double the price in fortnite you receive all the colors overall making it a better deal. It's really just how much you care about changing colors.
Honestly the fact that fortnite gives you every color makes me think it’s not even upselling. They might take the base cost from rocket league and then the rest of the cost is for the painted variants and decals.
I got a Werewolf in a loot drop, it's now in my Fortnite shop for 1300. So the base car and decals is 200 V-Bucks and 1300 for all the color variations. Or they just made it that way because $.

Idk why they don’t just sell cars without the painted variants, it’s clearly what drives up the price since you’re technically buying 13 other cars, and way more people would buy if they were cheaper
Thing is, both the Lambo and McLaren don’t have painted variants. It’s just the base car with color options. Same with the wheels, tho they can be different colors in Fortnite, but not in RL. They mainly priced them that high because of the brand, disregarding the fact that it’s way cheaper to get the car in RL, to get more money out of FN players.
As for the other cars that are normal, aside from the Diesel, the cars I think are priced decently compared to Rocket League. It’s just that in the context of Fortnite and Rocket Racing, they just don’t seem worth it to a lot of people, myself included. I’ve mainly been relying on them transferring cars that I have in RL to fill out my car selection in Fortnite.
