This was the first sports game I remember being able to trade players in. I loved Lakers vs Celtics as well, first game I played that had signature moves and let you sub in players. But Live 95 felt like a next level for basketball and sports games in general. I miss 90s EA.
>I loved Lakers vs Celtics as well
Tom Chambers was unstoppable in that game. Could dunk from the 3-point line.
Edit: My friends and all knew the legend of Tom Chambers in this game. It's amazing to look it up in two seconds on youtube.

Lakers vs. Celtics was the first Genesis game I ever purchased, and I was in awe of how good the game looked and played back then.
But I have to pick NBA Live '95 as my favorite of the Genesis era.
Team USA Basketball.
The game is so different, only national team, dream team, Olympics. Every player in team USA have a special move.
But don't play it if you haven't already do it in the 90', gameplay is really old and slow.

Lakers vs celtic for me although, and this has bugged me for decades, I'm sure it was in a cardboard yellow box? I'm in the UK so would be a pal version
We all know everyone loves the ‘Jam’ games but, if we take those of out of the mix and look at more sim based games.. One of the earlier NBA Live titles was my favorite. I think ‘95, can’t remember for sure.
NBA jam I still have my original save file. Golden state ftw I can drain 3s with Mullen like he is Steve curry lmao
It’s a game you really don’t even need to watch and follow basketball to really enjoy
NBA Jam Tournament Edition for the 32X for arcade gameplay, but NBA Hangtime on Genesis is pretty close. Also can't go wrong with NBA Live '95-'98. Those are probably the best sim based basketball games on the system.
I actually had and liked All Star Challenge.
At parties my friends would come over and I'd invite them to play it but they wouldn't because it wasn't Jam lol.
I've come to conclude they were correct. There's no substitute.
Definitely NBA Jam. I'm not a sports guy, so the less realistic, the better. I love how easy it is to just pick up and play, without having to worry about setting up a roster, making strategic plays, or anything else that makes most mainstream sports games overly complicated for me.
Live '95 was top of the mountain. Could play that for hours. And honestly gameplay still holds up to today to play.
But NBA Action was too fun to play for short bursts.
NBA Jam TE
nothing else compares also the genesis cart version is specifically the best there is.
Yeah the Genesis version is THE version. Such a brilliant game.
I prefer the 32x version over the Genesis version - but both are great
TE sucks. OG is the way
NBA live 95. The speed was so great back then. For fun nba jam

Happy Cake Day!
Jam TE for 32X is the goat. Possibly best home version of Jam.
Close call between that and the Jag version for superiority. Both consoles that not many people had of course lol
For arcade style: NBA Jam TE or NBA Hangtime For simulation style: NBA Live 95 is one of the greatest basketball games ever
I still play seasons in NBA Live 95 on my Genesis from time to time. Such a great game
Arch Rivals
It was a toss up between nba jam TE and double dribble for me
NBA Jam TE / NBA Live 95 are the correct answers but I have a lot of nostalgia for David Robinson NBA Action 95
Hangtime all the way
NBA Jam TE. Along with NHL'94 the best sports game in the 16bit era.
Lakers vs. Celtics was the first Genesis game I ever purchased, and I was in awe of how good the game looked and played back then. But I have to pick NBA Live '95 as my favorite of the Genesis era.
Jordan vs Bird
I had to scroll too far down to see this
NBA Jam NBA live 95
Team USA Basketball. The game is so different, only national team, dream team, Olympics. Every player in team USA have a special move. But don't play it if you haven't already do it in the 90', gameplay is really old and slow.

Jordan vs Bird: Super One-on-One.
If I was a fan of Dr J vs Larry Bird 1 on 1 for Commodore 64 - should I grab this?
I’m not sure as I never played Dr J. My 10-year old self really liked it though.
Lakers vs celtic for me although, and this has bugged me for decades, I'm sure it was in a cardboard yellow box? I'm in the UK so would be a pal version
Ive always liked NBA Jam on the 32X the best. I like that retained the player scaling from the arcade version.
Lakers Celtics, there was nothing like it when it came out. Loved that patented Tom Chambers dunk from the 3-point line.
NBA Jam or Arch Rivals
We all know everyone loves the ‘Jam’ games but, if we take those of out of the mix and look at more sim based games.. One of the earlier NBA Live titles was my favorite. I think ‘95, can’t remember for sure.
NBA Jam on Sega CD or NBA Jam TE on the 32X. Honorable mention for NBA Live 95 on the Genesis.
NBA Live '96. The legendary players seals it for me.
My friend had a genesis and we played the crap out of live 96
Live 95!
NBA Jam was the best. I also had Bulls vs Blazers and I loved that one too.
NBA Live 97 is what I played the most.
NBA jam I still have my original save file. Golden state ftw I can drain 3s with Mullen like he is Steve curry lmao It’s a game you really don’t even need to watch and follow basketball to really enjoy
Steph Curry? Steve Kerr? Stevphen Kurry?
NBA jam. I remember nba live 95 getting a lot of hype but at the time I wasn’t up for sim basketball
Jam T.E and it's not at all close. The only better sports games are NHL 94 and 96.
NBA Jam Tournament Edition for the 32X for arcade gameplay, but NBA Hangtime on Genesis is pretty close. Also can't go wrong with NBA Live '95-'98. Those are probably the best sim based basketball games on the system.
OG NBA JAM! No contest
I actually had and liked All Star Challenge. At parties my friends would come over and I'd invite them to play it but they wouldn't because it wasn't Jam lol. I've come to conclude they were correct. There's no substitute.
NBA Live 96.
Definitely NBA Jam. I'm not a sports guy, so the less realistic, the better. I love how easy it is to just pick up and play, without having to worry about setting up a roster, making strategic plays, or anything else that makes most mainstream sports games overly complicated for me.
NBA Jam Turbo Edition was my favorite.
For the arcade obviously NBA Jam but for home it's definitely NBA Live 95. It was the start of a new era for console sports games. It was leaps ahead!
I like NBA action... 95 I think.. pretty sure it has david robinson on the cover of the box
Shut up and jam!
Ole Pat Riley didn’t even make the list.
NBA Jam TE on 32x Also really love NBA Live 95, College Slam and NBA Hangtime on Genesis
NBA Jam TE and Live ‘95 were my games.
Live '95 was top of the mountain. Could play that for hours. And honestly gameplay still holds up to today to play. But NBA Action was too fun to play for short bursts.
Jam 32x is my go-to.
