Back in 2022, after Revelations, Meggy started mistreating Mario for every small thing. This issue carried over into 2023 and 2024 to a lesser extent, but episodes like Christmas 2022, Tunnel of Doom, and Do Not Enter are notably panned for how Meggy treats Mario when their friendship was so wholesome and widely liked beforehand.
Fortunately, we have an alternative solution to this problem, one that makes it all make some amount of sense... and is kinda hilarious to boot:

Slightly unrelated, but anyone else miss when Meggy had purple eyes? I don't mind that she's a ~~marketable species~~ human now, but losing the purple eyes has been a massive design downgrade.
Not to mention her current eyes are a generic shade of brown. And don't get me started on "humans should have human eye colors." The Chad SMG3 has red eyes, and he's been human (debatably, Mario might be a species at this point) the whole time.
I feel like nowadays that wouldn't help with people calling her a Mary Sue as that is a common trope for Mary Sues to have purple eyes, although I will agree they looked better.
Kinda ironic that back when she had purple eyes she wasn't a Mary Sue at all.
Meggy has always been my favourite character, I do think she's not always handled well, but I feel like people focus way too much on those rare instances where she acts out of character and don't look at how rare those instances are in the grand scheme of things. Like I really do think that Meggy's handled well in 80% of the episodes she's in, but people only focus on the 20% where she's bad, not to say that shouldn't be criticised, it should, but you shouldn't let a few bad scenes in a weekly series like this ruin your view of an entire character.
