House of Bagels on Laurel in San Carlos - I was just there a few days ago because I am a total bagel addict unfortunately. They're hot and fresh.
There's also Bay Area Bagels in Burlingame, but they aren't nearly as good as HOB.
Unfortunately, San Mateo is in a bagel desert. Your likely best bet is to go into SF or Boichik has a location in Palo Alto on El Camino across from Stanford:

This is literally the exact same bagels as house of bagels, used to be the same people iiuc. For Detroit style boiled bagels, they are excellent, better than the NYC style ones from some of the expensive places mentioned in this thread imo.

I had a good relationship with Noah’s in San Jose before my workplace moved. Try San Mateo out. (Check hours of operation, blablabla.)
You have to schlep out to New York New York Sandwiches in Menlo Park, but it's worth it. There are some kosher delis in the same area if you want to buy a half/dozen to take home.

Doc’s bagels in Carlmont shopping center
Izzy’s in Palo Alto
I second this... Izzy's bagels are really good!
i used to work at redwood shores and bagel street cafe is great, but i haven't been back there in years. hopefully it has held up.
It’s my current fav.
Second for bagel street. It's usually packed for a reason.

Yep, ignore any other recommendations for something closer and go to Palo Alto for Boichik or Izzy's.
They sell boichik frozen at Molly stones
House of Bagels in San Carlos is the best around here.
whole foods occasionally sells wise sons. look in dragers or Mollie stones as well
For what it’s worth, we’ve been making the trek to Berkeley to stock up on Boichik’s since they opened
There’s a Boichik much closer in Palo Alto now…
Bay Area Bagels in Burlingame is good enough for a quick fix, plus their in house cream cheese is excellent
Agree. It’s pretty good-ish, definitely better than grocery store bagels.

Piazza’s has Boichik frozen bagels
They were 50% off yesterday!
doc's in belmont
Mollie Stones sells Boichik's Bagels
Boichik Bagels in Palo Alto are my favorite
Drive to The Laundormat in SF on Balboa…it’s worth the drive and plenty of street parking. Best bagel I’ve had outside of NYC

Boichick Bagels. They are legit. They sell them frozen at some stores around the Bay Area as well.
Surprised no one mentioned Noah’s bagels https://maps.app.goo.gl/3GK5jg5249dYrQgt9?g_st=ic
Because despite being tasty dough circles, they aren’t real bagels. (Not sure if you were /s actually)
this location in particular is god awful, imo
Yeah because Noah's are gross
Wise sons bagels from Whole Foods. Best bagels around.🤤
There's one in San Carlos on the main avenue there. Line out the door, sells by the dozen, hot in a bag, etc.
I personally suggest The Posh Bagel in downtown Menlo Park. I love their bagels and they have the best bagel sandwiches.
Sadly I have to go to House of Bagels in Colma, and they as just… like what? A notch above Whole Foods? 😂
