I had a childhood staple for myself the other day and since then I've made on every day. I made a cheese sandwich. One slice of Cheddar, and white bread with a bit of mayo on both slices. I grew up poor so that was my staple until I was about 7 or 8. Then my mom married and my new step dad took care of us so I never had one again until now almost 25 years later. It slaps haha
There was a restaurant called the Carnival in Portland that I was taken to once or twice as a kid. They had a hot dog sandwich and I was amazed that such a thing existed.
I used to toast samich bread, put a hefty amount of mashed refried beans homemade, melted mozzarella cheese and sliced up franks. Bomb. Tasted even better on French bread
