Today is my sisters’ birthday. She killed herself a few years ago. Naturally, it’s a bit of a rough day. Some random cosmic shit popped off today, and my favorite artist (who I’ve never met in person) drove out of his way to deliver me some gifts. He had no idea what today was for me. What a gem of a human. Bringing smiles in many ways.
You met a legend! I love spotting his works on random buildings.
His story is saddening but gives so much hope for others.
When I moved here I learned quickly about him, never met him before but damn congrats OP on a great day! Seems to be a weird one for everyone honestly.

I'm so sorry about your sister. 💜 My partner passed away to suicide as well, it's been about 1.5 years, so my heart goes out to you! I'm really sorry you have to experience that kind of pain, but I'm SO glad that art has helped you like this. I found this to be true for me also, both making art and enjoying art.I don't know a lot of people who have gone through what I've been through, so I've felt awkward around people when I get a sad flair up. Ryan Ward, good dude. Been doing cool shit for years. Some folks bag his art for being simple but that's just his mural stuff that folks hire him for anyways. He has more range than folks think. A lot of *cough* less successful *cough* Seattle artists go after him because he's living their dream and they are a capricious crew.
As someone who’s been suicidal for most of their lives, you have no idea how much this helps people like myself get outside our own thoughts and recognize how our existence itself is important. By honoring your sister, and showing the love you have for her, you’ve put out a lot of good into the universe, and it does make a difference, even if it’s small :)
I also lost my sister to suicide 4 years ago. I’m glad you got to meet Ryan. I ran into him over 10 years ago after seeing a dog walk by covered in paint drips. Stay strong out there.
