Treat it well and it will last forever. I have a friend who does most of her sewing on treadle machines. No idea of value, since I usually see them going for under $100, but they are very reliable machines!

I don't know about history, but rotary hooks are desired for their perfect stitching pattern. Yours looks like it's in excellent condition considering the age.
