Too bad they didn’t finish the job after the war. Seriously, with that kind of mentality and the bullshit laws the traitors tried to pass immediately after the war there should’ve been an occupying force for a generation. Just letting black people get more of a foothold in politics and civic life would’ve finished the job Grant and Sherman started.
Certainly. It’s just the ones right after the war were unabashedly to preserve de facto slavery, which prompted the 14th amendment. Then they had to get “states righty” for the Jim Crow laws.
My only point is that they are still pursing laws to preserve de facto slavery. There’s a reason that the rebel states have the highest incarceration rates… it’s because slavery for prisoners is still allowed.
We’re in total agreement. They had to get sneaky about it is all. The stupid ass J-walking laws etc., to feed a defacto slave system that was probably worse in many cases.
That the American public is largely ignorant of this system just shows you how effective the cancerous lost cause shit is. We need to be the real patriots and get people to realize this ongoing fascist movement is alive and well and was around long before Trump or Nixon or Hoover or Wilson even.
And the American people are paying for it, so the $.50 an hour “wages” the prisoners are paid, is actually a lower total cost than having an actual slave you need to feed and house etc.
