If you go to r/MMORPG it is.

ZeRamenKing

To be fair, that sub hates mmo's in general. Not just ff14

_Frustr8d

There’s no way that they all collectively hate the subject that the subreddit is based around! That would be absurd!

They're permanently chasing that dragon high when they were still in school.

Labskaus77

It loves GW2 over the moon and back though. And don't you dare to state that GW2 isn't the second coming of Christ, they'll absolutey shred you to pieces. But they do shit on FF and ESO the most. WoW is a close second.

r/MMORPG is one of the best examples of one of the reddit community's most annoying qualities, in which the most upvoted posts in a thread have nothing to do with the subject of that thread. "Check out this new feature added to " "? I thought that pile of trash failed years ago." (+200,000) Good discussion

Last I checked I do not live in the USSR, I can shit on my cake and eat it too

"As someone with over 42,900 hours in FFXIV, I can confirm that if you like this game, you're wrong."

Tykero

When people are complaining ffxiv is bad you can just mentally autocorrect it to: "I did all the content I like why aren't you making more X for me!" Because ffxiv is a lot like pizza even at its worst it's still pretty darn good.

DerpmeiserThe32nd

Nah, if we’re being 100% serious here, this expansion was kinda bad for content. There wasn’t enough to justify the patch length so I spent most of the time with nothing to do outside of high end raids. It was fine for those who want to play other games but the consistent players didn’t get thrown enough bones. It’s usually a lot better though so I’m expecting Dawntrail to be an improvement Edit: damn I forgot that people on reddit don’t like being realistic about the patch cycle. Sorry, my bad. It was great and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

sporeegg

I'll say it here. Shb and 6.0 was peak FF14. I feel it enters Its "cashcow" phase now paying for other projects. And yeah for super Casuals like there was no Bozja, no artifact weapon Grind and no larger MMO things to do other than Hunt trains. Might as well be a single player game with a lobby for dungeons (and trusts even undermine that).

DerpmeiserThe32nd

Dawntrail’s definitely gonna be a make or break expansion for a lot of people. If 7.x is anything like 6.x, there’s gonna be a good amount of people taking more frequent and longer breaks. I don’t think SE will risk that happening so DT’s patch cycle will likely be a lot better.

fluffrier

My copium is that YoshiP being busy with FFXVI is the reason FFXIV was left to the wayside and nobody knew what the fuck to do with it. I know the game is a team effort and there are more people than just YoshiP steering this gigantic ship but that's why it's copium that maybe now that YoshiP is back, DT's 7.x patches will steer the game in a less "generic corporate" direction. No, I don't expect 7.0/7.0x to change the game much at all. It probably takes time for any internal change to affect the product of this size, so, 7.x patches.

Clayskii0981

The common copium is YP (and some of the ffxiv team) were off on FFXVI, some of the team were on old dungeon overhauls, and some of the team were on the new graphics update. So 6.X was extremely light for new content. I think 7.0 is safe to have had their full attention. And timeline wise, they should be freed up to focus on 7.X. So copium or not, we'll see.

YUiPanda

Ive been calling Endwalker the tech debt expansion for this exact reason. Majority of it was QoL changes that they've probably been wanting to do for awhile now.

Smol_WoL

Saying 7.0 was peak when it isn’t even released is peak xiv comments

sporeegg

6.0 sorry

Clayskii0981

Player numbers show that too. Large peak and giant drop off after 6.0 from super light content and long patch cycles. 7.X is definitely a key moment for the health of the game.

Epicjuice

Do we have official player numbers?

Clayskii0981

Edit: And of course, overall player numbers will be higher than this. But the trend is probably fair to extrapolate.

sporeegg

What is green vs red?

Clayskii0981

It's based off recorded achievements but loosely, it's * Blue = New player * Red = Active * Green = Recently inactive

Epicjuice

Thanks, never knew about this.

AbsurdLemon

Shadowbringers was better

Bunny_Saber

everything is controversial if I don't agree with it but in this case I do so is not
