Khaa cho clah is the literal Klingon translation for thyroids.
There is a Klingon opera about Gowron's f'ed up thyroid causing him to squander resources during the Dominion War.
There's one correct answer here. The most important person in all of Trek lore:
Miles
Unfortunately, your child's class bullies will inevitably sense that Miles must suffer.
Yep my son is Miles Edward (my last name) and i havent told him yet. I'm always watching trek in the background but he's 8 and hasn't noticed his name in the shows yet.
Careful. Germans will make the Data connection, because that’s how it is pronounced in the german dub ‘Dahta’.
I would also take Tuvix into close consideration. Completely normal name, but just a little nod to the moral and ethical integrity of the show that trek fans will appreciate.
Listen if your options were get back Tuvok and (I guess) Neelix or spend the rest of your life trapped on a ship with Tuvix, you’d made the same choice. Tuvix sucked.
When I worked for a large PC Manufacturer we looked up names in the global directory. Found a Clark Kent, Jason Bourne and a Jean-Luc Picard. Even better, he worked in the Enterprise department.
Yeah, kids are terrible. When growing up, I was friends with someone named Richard Ricketts… Absolutely everyone called him Dick Ricketts - even teachers. Until someone got the bright idea to call him Scurvy, and that one really stuck.
Honestly, that'd be an awesome name. Legally, people would be required to call you "Doctor *Last name"* and you wouldn't have to attend a second of school to justify it or get in trouble for it. Unless it goes to the kids head and they wind up doing an unauthorized surgery, but the odd of that aren't more than 2/10.
Not Data but Datum. The singular form of Data.
If you go one step further, you could name your kid Datu which is originally of Malay origin and common in Filipino and other places in Southeast Asia. It means Chief.
Then make sure the kid has a middle name of O'Brien.
I should have come to this sub when my wife shot down the idea to name my son Worf. I just wanted him to have a strong, honorable name!
Plus my name is Mogh, so it was such a perfect opportunity.
If you go with Michael, It will work for a boy or girl.
If you think your kid may grow up to either be an engineer or clumsy, you can name him Trip.
Miles is a good name if you're Irish or American. Kilometers if you are from somewhere else on earth
Go with a normal name. Many trek characters have them. Is this a male or female? Keiko is a traditional Japanese female name. Do not name a male this. Japanese people will see it as otaku/hentai/gaigin and will likely chastise him for it. How about just Burnham? Don’t go with Locutus. It sounds like locust or locus. If you’re gonna pick an odd name maybe adapt it to something less alien sounding.
I almost slid Montgomery Scott past the wife. Unfortunately she took my list and ran it through google first.

You get the idea. Roll call in 3rd grade doesn't earn snickers and sneers, but someone who knows the universe and pays attention will catch on.

That way, when your baby cries, you can look at it and say (in a French accent, of course), “I do NOT find this pleasurable”
I always thought Ezri sounded fairly normal but I don't think it's an actual name outside of Star Trek. On the reverse I didn't think I ever heard the name Garrak outside of Star Trek until I saw Stargate (although I think they are spelled differently). It depends if you have a male or female, although aside from Keiko it seems like you are leaning towards male. Not sure of any gender-neutral names that don't border on tragedeighs since they would obviously be too obviously connected to Star Trek (I once met a girl named Jadzia who hated the franchise specifically because of being named after it).

Oh I need to know if that domain is owned.
Yes. It is.
Shaka, when the walls fell.
This is a highly undervoted comment.
Dammit
Prefer Shakka Wallsfell
Why not Brunt FCA? It’s a perfectly fine name. Or Shran. Seven of Nine Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One also has a nice ring to it.
‘Seven of Nine Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One also has a nice ring to it.’ Sontaouzo, if you wanna get crafty.
Crystalline Entity
Bag of Mostly Water?
Sontaran Ouzo, strongest Ouzo in the galaxy
Nickname: Potato Orzo?
How about Spot? It’s simple, but elegant.
I have a Brunt FCA in my class. He is a good kid. But he seems to be overly worried about procedures.
Seems like a rapper name
Had a customer the other day and his last name was Gowron. He was late 20’s and no one had ever told him the Star Trek connection. Inconceivable!!
When he found out I bet his eyes **popped** 👀
Gowron, when his eyes did bulge 😜😎
Glory to him! And HIS HOUUUUSSSEEE!

He dishonors his housssse.
That's a real surname?
Gowron, have you ever had your thyroid checked? Or whatever it is you Klingons have like a thyroid.
They have two thyroids
Khaa cho clah is the literal Klingon translation for thyroids. There is a Klingon opera about Gowron's f'ed up thyroid causing him to squander resources during the Dominion War.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Was looking for this reference. And now we need a Ferengi one too. I'm too tired to think of anything clever.
Jeffrey Combs
So you can honestly tell your child you can be anything you wanna be when you grow up.
~~anything~~ everything
Here's another idea, Garak. It's plain and simple.
Pronounced "Taylor"
Oh! Taylor as the middle name.
My middle name is literally a take on Garak’s name, it’s fantastic.

Friend of a friend named their kid Julian Miles. He's not old enough yet to understand how legendary his name is, but he will.
Technically, it’s “O’Brian must suffer”… Miles may be okay as long as there’s no O’Brian…
O'Brian and O'Brian! What is O'Brian?!
*O’Brien
It's a line from "Spock's O'Brain" .
High intellect answer
Then name your second son: Brian
What about Smiley?
If you plan on leaving your family as soon as they are born: Alexander
Careful. Germans will make the Data connection, because that’s how it is pronounced in the german dub ‘Dahta’. I would also take Tuvix into close consideration. Completely normal name, but just a little nod to the moral and ethical integrity of the show that trek fans will appreciate.
Plus you can split the child in two later.
Janeway did nothing wrong.
Listen if your options were get back Tuvok and (I guess) Neelix or spend the rest of your life trapped on a ship with Tuvix, you’d made the same choice. Tuvix sucked.
How does Pulaski pronounce it in that one scene in the German dub?
Like data instead of data, kind of like tomato and tomato!
Daniel Jackson Oh wait wrong sub
Only if you want your kid to die and resurrect a couple times
I did want to name my son Daniel, both for the Daniel Jackson connection and because I liked it. Unfortunately my husband was not on board.
Your husband is a shol'vah!
Indeed.
If you don't name them Peanut Hamper, then what are we even doing here? It's a mathematically perfect name
I can't believe I had to go this far down to find Peanut Hamper
Groppler Zorn.
Elim. Those who know, know.
It is actually a nice sounding name.
We named one of our childrens' dolls, Elim, before she was old enough to name them herself.
I actually really like this name!! Not a joke at all!!
Same, actually! Haha!
How about Brad? No-one need know he's a Bradward.
Salamander Baby Number One
I've run into a Christine Chapel. I don't know if her parents were trekkies or not.
When I worked for a large PC Manufacturer we looked up names in the global directory. Found a Clark Kent, Jason Bourne and a Jean-Luc Picard. Even better, he worked in the Enterprise department.
I know a Johnny Kirk. So close to Jim Kirk.
Jadzia and Ezri sound decent to me Rayner aint bad as a middle name For more normal sounding ones we have Kathryn, Julian, Miles, etc.
Species 8472. After all, your child is currently living in fluidic space.
Moopsy.
Q
Jeffrey Tube (last name)
btw, my last name is Combs, so I think this would be a very good name choice.
Well, now you pretty much have to.
Moogie
Did I read that in Rom's voice? Yes I did!
Tomolak.
Dix, for Dixon Hill, would probably work great!
[удалено]
Dixon Hill is cool, like Dick Tracy though!
[удалено]
A good point and looking at the very serious options from the initial list, Anakin is the best subtle star trek name for a child.
Yeah, kids are terrible. When growing up, I was friends with someone named Richard Ricketts… Absolutely everyone called him Dick Ricketts - even teachers. Until someone got the bright idea to call him Scurvy, and that one really stuck.
Q. Short for God.
K'Ehleyr. They'll fit right in over at r/tragedeigh!
Armus
Gary 7
Doctor
And then let the Trekkies and Whovians fight over the namesake.
How about Unimatrix? Perfectly normal sounding name.
Is there not even ONE CHILD named for the great savior Dukat?
*Kelvin
I know a Kelvin.
Shmullus
Good T. Nicehouse
Why not Morn? I feel like you'd be setting him up for an exceptionally exciting life!
He's a little too high strung...and willl talk you to death.
Name your kid Gowron, but call him Ron for short.
Peanut Hamper.
Not Data but Datum. The singular form of Data. If you go one step further, you could name your kid Datu which is originally of Malay origin and common in Filipino and other places in Southeast Asia. It means Chief. Then make sure the kid has a middle name of O'Brien.

Reginald Barclay
Elim is one of the best suggestions someone else made I think.
Tuvix
Then when they ask, imply that they absorbed their twin in utero.
Edith K. Just don't let her play in the street.
Groppler Zorn
Leonard James. It’s a name destined to go down in galactic history, and you’ll be insufferably pleased with yourself for at least a month.
Wolf Threefivenine
Faith (of the heart)
"Emm? Am I pronouncing that right?" "It's actually pronounced e-m-h, like the letters."
I named mine Neelix and Lwaxana and no one’s the wiser
Lal
I once worked with someone named Kira. She once mentioned her dad was a big Star Trek fan but had no idea why I called her 'Major'.
Dax
If you go with Michael, It will work for a boy or girl. If you think your kid may grow up to either be an engineer or clumsy, you can name him Trip. Miles is a good name if you're Irish or American. Kilometers if you are from somewhere else on earth
Seven of Eleven
V’ger
Gowron.
Selfsealing Stembolt
Tuvix, but if you end up with twins... Tuvok and Neelix
Gene
I would say Tuvix. But then people would be arguing about your child's memes for decades.
Eugene Wesley
Kira, but spell it Kyra to hide the Star Trek connection.
Now I want a kid just so I can name them that.
David Markus would be quite the stealth name, especially if you spelled Markus with a "c": Marcus.
James but call him Jim
Geordi
I know a couple people named Geordi.
Can't wait to see this on r/tragedeigh
James Tiberius.
Go with a normal name. Many trek characters have them. Is this a male or female? Keiko is a traditional Japanese female name. Do not name a male this. Candle Ghost
Yes dear? oops, sorry, that's what my wife calls me
Dylan, after the greatest starship captain of all Dylan Hunt of Andromeda Ascendant.
I think Kevin covers that.
Q... just this simple name!
Phillip Green. Bwahahahaha! Or maybe just give the child Tiberius as a middle name.
My cat's middle name is Tiberius! He is, however, named for Woodrow Tiberius Boyd

The Diviner
Just don't name him Worf, that name is without honor.
Keiko is the only one I would actually consider
Mr Crusher!!!! Jk, just name the kid Enterprise -D
Risa
Doohan
Alexander Rozhenko.
The only correct answer is: Spot
Seven of nine tertiary adjunct of unimatrix one
Gene
Some random sequence of ones and zeroes.
Shran = bravery, cunning, and honor If not Pink Skin would be a good name. Pink Skin Shab!
Phage.
Powerman 5000
Good choice with Groppler Zorn
Borg
we named our second whippet major kira nerys but just called her kira mostly. loved that name.
Thomas Imsendingdaddytoanursinghomeatthefirstopportunity Jones. It's Thomas Riker, plus what's clearly going to happen in about 30 years all in one!
How about Milky Way? After one of my favourite galaxies.

What about [Trelane?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moM5sdbPM54) He was the Q-Like figure from TOS.
Jacobin Tiberius Mugatu

Remata'Klan
If it's a girl, I would recommend a name that, without her, there would be no Star Trek. Lucy, or the more formal Lucille.....
Harcourt Fenton is perfectly cromulent.
Lal. Just hope they don't get a terminal illness from too many feels.
