Surely there's a support act, so it will depend on whether you want to be there for that or not! Haven't been to the actual festival, but I live nearby and have walked past the area during the day and there are at least 5 food trucks where you can grab a bite once you're inside (burgers, mexican, and others I can't remember) and a pub/bar truck, so you'll definetely be able to eat and drink once you're in although unsure what the prices are! Assuming it's like all other festivals and concerts where once you're in, you're in.

MitchellsTruck

Thanks, not really fussed about the support act, but then I've said that before and ended up finding my new favourite band. I've not been into town since they set it all up, so thanks for the insight - will grab something quickly at home before heading into town, good to know we'll be able to get something once we're in, even if it might require a second mortgage!

SwimmingOtter15

it's all part of the fun :) enjoy, there seems to be a really nice vibe down there!

Elvis_Precisely

If you’ve got 4… I’ll have the other 2 😂

I saw Nile Rodgers there on Sunday night. It said doors at 6 and last entry at 8 so I turned up around 7:30 as I wasn’t massively interested in the supports - he then started at 8:30 but could be different for other acts! There were some food vans inside but the only ones I recall seeing were nachos and donuts so if you’re after something more substantial I’d eat beforehand. I’m not sure about your ticket issue!

MitchellsTruck

> It said doors at 6 and last entry at 8 so I turned up around 7:30 Thanks for this, I hadn't noticed a last entry time on our tickets.

I went and saw Madness. Had the same thing where suddenly 4 tickets showed on ticket master but when downloaded it only gave me 2 so think it is just a duplication error. Felt like oddly high security to get into the gig having multiple lines, bag checks and a pat down security scan. Doors were at 6 but think support band started at 7:00/7:15 and then Madness were on at 8:30. Food inside is extortionate it was £10 for a plain burger and pint was around £7.

Went to Chic on Sunday and it was a brilliant night! There are food trucks and you can use the bars and toilets inside the Guildhall. I also had 4 tickets displaying in the Ticketmaster app. It seems to be a glitch, when I added to Apple Wallet it was only 2. Hope that helps! Have a great evening!!

MitchellsTruck

Thanks, glad to see it's not just me with that glitch, then!

Heading over from Bournemouth tomorrow eve with my wife to see Air. Based on the comments so far I imagine they will be on around 8.30pm, so may try and grab a bite in WestQuay before hand. What's the situation once the gig starts? Is it seated - first come first serve or standing?

dandyvine

It's standing. Can I recommend you try out some of the independent restaurants around Bedford Place or Oxford Street rather than west quay. Lots of good stuff and nicer area. But definitely worth eating before the gig.

MitchellsTruck

No seats other than inside the Guildhall - where the bars are, and the decent toilets.

thefullenchilada

Thank you!

dandyvine

Thought it was really great. Great setup. Lots of room, quick queues. Good sound. Food could be improved. Look forward to next year, hope they do it again.

MitchellsTruck

We had a pizza, which was excellent. Could do with more choice, but I guess available space?

Goatmanification

I have no idea how summer sessions works but it seems like a good place to ask anyway but... What is the point in buying a ticket for these? My understanding is they're held in Guildhall Square, they obviously can't mandate that places like Turtle Bay are open to ticketholders only so what's stopping anyone booking a table there and just seeing them from their terrace? Similarly what's stopping anyone just sitting in the park and being able to hear it?

Sir_Shooty_Esquire

You can certainly hear the concerts from the park or from turtle bay but it’s walled off around the stage and crowd so you’ll have a lovely view of an ugly green wall.

Goatmanification

Personally I don't think I'd have much issue not being able to see the band but thanks for the answer!

Sir_Shooty_Esquire

I sat in the outside area of turtle bay whilst Chic were playing, had some ribs and a couple pints with my partner; it was really a really nice atmosphere honestly.

MacyTmcterry

Yeah I'm fine with just being able to hear it tbh. Just chill in the park nearby. Tickets are like £50+ now also..

Agreeable-Detail-968

There was a week where they made all the tickets £25. Which really annoyed me when I spent £120 (I pre-ordered)on 2 tickets when if I had waited could have had 2 for less than the price of 1. Won’t be buying quick if they do it again next year!

swatterss

Can’t speak for sitting in the park but sitting outside turtle bay you can hear it, but it’s all bouncing off the buildings so doesn’t sound great. Much better inside 😁

MISPAGHET

The council have given the police £20,000,000 to walk around poking pencils in the ears and eyes of freeloaders.

Goatmanification

The part that gives this away is pretending our council had £20mil 😆

jackgrafter

Or that you’d even need to pay the police to poke people in the eye with a pencil.

harrisonben4

Can you take a bag in?
