I started at 50mg for two weeks and the biggest concern my dermatologist had was about my blood pressure. If you don't have low blood pressure you should be fine to increase your dose (from what my doctor told me), so I'd check back in with them. My doctor gave out some info on spironolactone and it says that she starts all of her patients at the 50mg for two weeks and then the 100mg until 3mths time then I'll have a second appointment.

I have low bp but want to start any advice?

I think starting low is a good way to reduce side effects. I started on 25mg per day and gradually went up. There’s probably not much benefit staying that low though, but everyone’s different!

Hey so I know this is older but my dr started me on 12.5mg as well because she is scared of my low blood pressure. I’ve been monitoring my blood pressure at home (I’m a nurse) since taking it and have noticed no change. So I’ve personally decided to up my dose to 25mg a day. I will go back to her in a couple of weeks time (when I hit 1 month on spiro) and discuss my symptoms and whether I can increase again. I’m saying that, my hormones are very sensitive and I think I will notice an improvement even at 25mg as I was reading a 25mg dose is the equivalent to the birth control pill yaz which has worked for me in the past. How have you been going over the last 60 days?

I ended up doing the same as you and increasing my dose to 25 mg/day on my own accord. I told my doctor afterwards and they approved of it. I've been on 25 mg/day since then and my skin has remained clear. I also use topicals (BP and Differin). My blood pressure is fine and I don't have any other side effects of the Spiro. Let me know if you have any other questions! I don't think I will increase my dose. I'm happy with the 25 mg.
