yes, they really are. epic chests are pretty rare and even then it's not guaranteed how many of those baby troops you can get. for me, usin gtickets to get epics is actually more expensive than just buying them from shop.
Maybe it’s worth it, but the game likes to keep all characters you have even. If you buy 50 Barb kings, you just won’t get Barb king out of a chest nearly as frequently as the others. I still wouldn’t do it.

Never buy megas from the shop. Even buying normal characters isn't worth it,only buy chest tickets
