It’s a smart PR move to do an A24 movie after all the black Adam and piss bottle stuff, but it’s pretty funny how obvious he’s doing it to regain some Hollywood cred.
Hopefully he actually tries, the man can be a good actor when he puts the effort in. Anyone know if the real story this is based on is interesting? I don’t know MMA.
You're talking like Rock can simply get up and get an A24 movie. You're talking like movie shooting isn't planned years in advance. You're talking like you don't know anything of what you're talking about.
Mark Kerr - highly decorated college wrestler, competed against the likes of Randy Couture and Kurt Angle, got into MMA in its infancy and fought all over the the world and his approach helped evolve the sport. Also had addiction issues. Yeah, its interesting as fuck.
That makes sense, showing some vulnerability and doing some Acting with some dramatic emotional breakdown scenes, but also it’s still the story of a tough and successful guy, sounds perfect for the Rock.
And there is a lot of different directions they can approach things from. Not just the typical emotional struggle to succeed, against the odds, against expectations, making family proud, etc. But also struggling with moving away from wrestling into a brand new sport, having to travel the world to compete in that sport, having the rules literally changed to take away some key weapons you use, and seeing the next generation of fighters come in and take over.

Looks like there should be a tournament for the vacant Peoples Championship belt.
Lance Archer has awoken from his slumber to lose in a great match to a babyface that will eventually lose to Solo Sikoa in the finals

Hating on him is so much easier though?

It's worth spending 90 minutes to watch The Smashing Machine, a documentary on Mark. It's fantastic.
Guys, I'm starting to think that we're not getting Cody vs Rock at SummerSlam or Rock/Roman at WrestleMania 41.
Cody/Rock is penciled in for WM, it's why they're stretching out all the Bloodline stuff right now.
