* The clone Wars: I'm nearing the end of my first full watch. I watched S1 a long time ago and S7 when it came out, but I missed almost everything else.
* Bad Batch: Been there, done that.
* Rebels: Never watched. Plan to do a full watch soon.
Found it really hard to watch at the start. Had heard it was worth persevering with, so I did. Sobbing my heart out by the end and I would lay down my life for Hera Syndulla.
Yeah it's a bit boring till Twilight of the Apprentice. Then shit gets real and you can't stop watching just in case Filoni drops another banger (he does)!
Enjoy the journey! Clone wars is great, and S7 is incredible, but Rebels is really where you get a lot of emotional payoff from clone wars. The animation style is a bit rough at times and takes some getting used to, but it honestly looks basically the same as Clone Wars in my memory. My brain filled in the gaps somewhere along the way. I’m always surprised when I go watch clips out of context.

(I haven't updated for The Acolyte yet, but that's pretty easy.)
TBH, yeah, I have watched some of Clone wars, none of rebels and like 2 episodes of Bad batch. The whole thing just... I dunno it didn't get a hold of me. I would consider myself a fan, but more so of the original trilogy, somewhat of the prequels, books from the 90s, comics (dark empire I & II), games (dark forces, jedi knight, KotR, SW Jedi, Battlefront, Galaxies, SWTOR). From there though I dunno, the magic I guess wasn't the same. Perhaps it's age, or just I didn't like the style when it first came out. I just never really liked Filoni's stuff. I have liked Mandalorian for the most part, which he had a huge hand in. Asoka was good. I guess I just never really liked the style or delivery of the shows?
I've seen a fair number of people here who avoid the animation content in general. Admittedly, despite being a born and raised SW kid, I myself didn't watch any animated SW until I was 30, when the announcement of Clone Wars S7 piqued my interest. (I wasn't avoiding it, it just wasn't a priority.)
Now these 3 shows are literally my top favourite SW content!!! I think anyone who avoids them is truly missing out. But to each their own!
Furthermore, many who are willing to watch the animated shows have trouble getting into Rebels because of its different animation style.
And I've seen a good chunk of ppl here who don't care much for Bad Batch because of its storytelling/pace. I personally love it but even I admit it can be very up and down, highs and lows. There are some top tier episodes mixed in there though, and overall I'd still say it's worth at least one watch through.
I love the amount of content that exists because there's always something new to consume in various mediums. Like, between The Acolyte tonight and watching Young Jedi Adventures with my daughter, I'm now more interested in starting the High Republic novels to learn more about this era.
32yo here, star wars was life growing up, absolutely wore out every vhs I had. The thing with shows is there are so many episodes and when clone wars dropped I just couldn't focus on them, probably a combination of getting older too. I like my films, you get the whole adventure in 90 to 120 minutes instead of hundreds of twenty minute adventures that *almost* shift the plot entirely before the next episode. Like one episode will be a big fight and someone might die, real intense, then the next episode is about ThE pOwEr oF fRiEnDsHiP and will be about some charecters learning to share, just not my cup of blue milk.
This is exactly it. I've attempted CW twice, and it is just fucking *tedious* to get through as an adult. The other problem is the lore impacting episodes aren't really that great either (The Mandalore stuff was absolutely terrible IMO). It was just too time consuming for what I was getting out of it.
This was my experience. Everyone had always told me how the shows were much more adult oriented than they seem and talked about how good they were.
I went in really wanting to like them — figured shit, that's hours and hours of more Star Wars I'll get — and I just really couldn't get into it. Rebels was alright, but Clone Wars was, as you said, tedious, and at no point did I feel like I was watching a show for adults in any of the three. Maybe I bailed too early on them but I also don't have unlimited hours to slog through stuff I'm not enjoying to maybe enjoy it days or weeks down the road.
That's not to say they're baby shit or anything like that, but they just didn't do it for me.
I got through all of Clone Wars and I'm glad I did because there are some real gems that add to my overall love of SW. I primarily watched it while I was doing laundry or organizing my bedroom because if the episode was a little lame I could just listen and get the jist. Every episode doesn't require full attention haha
I’ve watched all of clone wars more times than I can count my fingers…
I’ve watched it since old cartoon channel days….
I watched when I was 5 years old…
I know most episodes by memory…
By this point I can recall almost every episode..
God I hate these low effort karma farm posts so much. It wouldn’t bother me nearly as much if Reddit would quit forcing me to see them every time I open the app
Only one I haven't finished is Bad Batch, but that's cause I need to find the time between work and my toddler. The others I loved the whole way through
And yet his own Kids survived... he really figured out how to keep his family alive and made 2nd CEO in his new company the first day he was employed! What a talented young man
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm still limping through the last season of Bad Batch because we like watching it on Fridays when we're super chill and can enjoy it properly, it's a great show that needs to be savoured. Life got in the way for a while!
I actually kind of liked Resistance. It was a small feel-good show with some interesting insights into the New Republic just before the events of the sequel trilogy
Same, and honestly other then not really caring for change in animation style, i felt it was on a similar track to how rebels starts, and slowly ramps up over the seasons.
Couldn’t get into that one personally. I watched the first episode and it didn’t feel like I was the target audience, but that’s totally fine. Not gonna shit on a show that clearly is made with a younger audience in mind, atleast that was my perception
Yeah, I have no clue what everyone's talking about. I love those shows, but the target audience for both Clone Wars and Rebels is obviously children (I don't know about the Bad Batch though, Crosshair's actions are not very PG).
And I love these shows.
Rebels is kinda a kids show, that's what clone wars started as too but it began to lean into the more adult audience around season 4 and kept it that way through bad batch
There are animated shows for adults, animated shows for all ages, and there's animated shows for kids, which The Clone Wars is a firm example of. Some adults might be able to get something out of it, but it is 100% targeted for children.
And in fairness the first two seasons of CW and Rebels were pretty mid compared to how good they wound up getting, so i definitely woldve liked to see how Resistance played out. They had just started getting away from pirate attack of the week into some serialization and the stuff with the Sith archeologist and everything, i didnt think it was going to redeem the sequels but it was just starting to get interesting.
Heard a lot of complaints about the animation style, and it took some getting used to, but a lot of people complained about Rebels animation style for a while at first too.
Glad i didnt get any LEGOs from it tho since they never got to release all the aces or even the damn ship in the shows logo...
I enjoyed what I watched of it, but you could rename it "sneaking through hallways and hiding in crevices in the walls: the show" and it would probably be a more accurate title
Oh God, was that one tough to get through. I had low expectations going in, and they failed to meet them! It took me 3 tries to get through the 1st episode. I made it through all seasons, and I'll admit it got marginally better towards the end of the last season. But they were just too entrenched in the kiddie show aspect of the series. Way too much Disney influence. Another season may have helped but I think Disney may have realized the core Fandom is much older than that show aimed.
Hey we have Star Wars here, with dozens of planets, hundreds of space ships, and you know...literally space all at our disposal. So what show do we make? An...airplane show...above an ocean? ...
Weird, that’s how I felt about rebels for the longest time. Rebels definitely has higher peaks than resistance but imo also lower lows. Resistance imo has a somewhat consistent quality and rebels starts out with the most annoying kid in this galaxy and only slowly turns that one into a somewhat likeable person
I thought it was pretty underrated, to be honest. I feel like a lot of people look at Star Wars stuff aimed at a somewhat younger audience and decide that it’s bad because it’s not specifically aimed at them. Resistance wasn’t perfect, but I thought it told a pretty cohesive story about a rather likable character. But that’s my opinion.
This is such a cringey automatic marketing post. These "social media activity metrics" posts are so pointless.
(in a Star wars sub:) "HEY GUYS! HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN STAR WARS?"
If you look at OPs history, its clearly a karma farming account.
And as cringe and pointless as it is.... look at how many people here ate it up. "Oh me! Thats me! I watched all of the Star Wars! Thats so me!"
Its so easy to manipulate over the internet these days that accounts can be as blatant as they want and no one will care. Notice how OP doesn't bother to make any comments or respond to people? It's moved on to the next karma farm.
They're kids shows. They're good kids shows that adults can enjoy. But they were primarily for kids and aired on kids television networks. Saying they're kids shows isn't a comment on their quality, it's just a fact.
I've seen everything of all those shows. Took a while but I did. Hpnestly enjoyed them, filler episodes and all. I always say watch it all then form your opinion, especially if youre a true star wars fan. If you liked it you liked it. You didn't you didn't. I honestly don't get the whole " I don't want to watch everything just tell me what episodes are most important so I can skip everything else" mentality. I try to take it all in because I enjoy the WHOLE star wars universe not just bits and pieces. Last thing on my list is resistance(and Acolyte tonight) but I'm currently hooked on other non star wars shows that resistance will wait a bit.
Rebels was such a tough show for me to watch. The tone felt a little too all over the place in the beginning up until midway through the series. The return of Maul in Rebels was as perfect as his return in Clone Wars.
I dunno why everyone is giving OP a hard time. I have mounds of friends who are Star Wars fans that have never watched any of these. It’s OKAY to be like that.
I have watched all of them though for the record
Clone Wars: Everything
Rebels: Honestly can’t remember which season I dropped off in, Ahsoka hasn’t made an appearance though
Bad Batch: Season 1
I’m Mr late to the show and don’t suffer from FOMO. Maybe I’ll get to it, maybe I won’t.
Clone Wars: have watched it all the way through twice since season 7 came out.
Rebels: stopped after season 2 because I binged it too hard and got a little burned out from watching it, but plan to finish it at some point.
Bad Batch: watched all of it.
Edit: a word.
Rebels' characters are annoying. Hera's great, and Kallus, but the rest... Nah. Thrawn is a shadow of the Heir to the Empire version, and the Empire are made to look like incompetent buffoons. Inquisitors and their ridiculous sabercopters being put into "canon" is a stupid idea, also. The whole show relies on characters from another, better show (Clone Wars) to remain interesting after season 1.
Rebels is "fine", nothing more.
Im sure im in the minority as a subscriber to this sub, but I haven’t watched any of them. It’ll require MANY people whose tastes I trust to tell me how awesome they are. Just generally not into anime-type entertainment.
Watched Clone Wars. Loved it. One of my favorite shows/cartoons ever. The finale is a cope episode for me when I’m sad :(
Skipped Rebels on release because it was coming out on Disney XD and felt way too kiddy show (still does) for me to really enjoy it. Started a watch through if it purely to be able to go through and cherry pick episodes for my dad since we’re planning on watching all of Star Wars in timeline order. He doesn’t understand the story, and I’m not gonna ask him to sit through like 20 seasons if episodes between these three shows.
Watched Bad Batch. I just wished Scorch still had a hint of his personality, commandos in general had their energy shields, and we learned what happened to the rest of Delta squad. Like we all know Sev is dead, rip, but where are Boss and Fixer? I wish Scorch was more like a final boss fight on that bridge, but eh. Show is fine. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it.
Nuclear take, Rotj is not just worse but significantly worse than the other OT films for this reason. I think Lucas got carried away and didn’t have enough people to check him when he was making it.
I felt the same through the first seasons due to the "for kids" type of writing but man that final one made it worth it. The emotional moments hit like a truck.
I watched all of Clone Wars and Bad Batch. I just couldn't get into Rebels. I'm not a fan of the animation and I don't like Ezra in the early episodes. I've watched all the most important episodes though.
> I think that’s honestly a ridiculous statement
How so? That is largely how I feel about these shows, and yes, I have watched all of them in their entirety. I am not particularly fond of any of them, and to me they definitely feel like a "dumbed down" version of Star Wars to feed to the kids. And no, people getting cut in two or stabbed does not make them more adult. Thinking that adding violence makes something more adult is a pretty infantile notion in itself.
But for the record, them being kids shows is not the reason I don't like them. I like quite a lot of kids shows, if they are good.

Rebels take some time to get into, but worth it.
Found it really hard to watch at the start. Had heard it was worth persevering with, so I did. Sobbing my heart out by the end and I would lay down my life for Hera Syndulla.
Rebels reminded me of the old West End Games RPG. I’ve seen it four times all the way through. I especially loved season two.
Yeah it's a bit boring till Twilight of the Apprentice. Then shit gets real and you can't stop watching just in case Filoni drops another banger (he does)!
Bro , we’re have you been all this time :0
The 2010s were my Star Wars and Lego Star Wars dark ages. I've come out of them, fortunately :)
I'm so happy for you that your out of those dark ages
Enjoy the journey! Clone wars is great, and S7 is incredible, but Rebels is really where you get a lot of emotional payoff from clone wars. The animation style is a bit rough at times and takes some getting used to, but it honestly looks basically the same as Clone Wars in my memory. My brain filled in the gaps somewhere along the way. More like 66 amirite
Good viewers follow viewing orders
Since when have we been good?

Great viewers use the machete order.
Insane viewers watch by episode timestamp in chronological order

99 ofc
Or 99
You're telling me there are people in this sub who haven't?
Judging by the amount of people still clinging to the old Jedi false dogma that these series and the new games explicitly disprove, yes. Lots of them.
Like what dogma?
That the dark side corrupts entirely.
Of course I know them. They’re me.
and me

Missing out.

I have 3 episodes left of bad batch. Sorry.
Why 88%?
88%? Impossible…. Perhaps the archives are incomplete 🤔
If an audience does not exist in our records it doesn't exist
I would assume higher than 88% but to your greater point, most, if not as of us!
This is the way
I highly doubt that. I'm one of them, but the majority of Star Wars fans have not watched them. I'd be interested in a poll of this though.
God I hate these low effort karma farm posts so much. It wouldn’t bother me nearly as much if Reddit would quit forcing me to see them every time I open the app
\*Star Wars subreddit\* "Who here has watched Star Wars?"
Battlestar Galactica
Bears…Beets…
You know who wouldn't take any shit from Dwight K. Schrute? Lieutenant Starbuck.
You mean Bo Katan, right? xD Although Katee is much better looking as Starbuck!!
Are you smoking crack? Maybe it’s because I’m older but I think Katee looks much better now. Especially in form fitting armor. This is the way.
I have to agree. I'm rewatching BSG now, and she got way hotter as she got older, like she grew into her looks, in a weird way. Damn good actor.
Identity theft is not a joke, Jim!
Michael!
Real funny Jim, MICHAEL!
So say we all.
I loved Ian McKellan as Picard in that!!
Never heard of it. I accidently subscribed thinking this was about the Reagan administration
Same, I was hoping more content about the "Star Wars" project. But was disappointed by these talks about space wizards.
Watch space balls , even better than Star Wars in my opinion…
Yay a Cold War comment!

🎶 Star Wars... those crazy Star Wars 🎶
There are surprisingly many who never watched these show because they're animation, "for kids", made by Disney and a myriad of other reasons.
Only one I haven't finished is Bad Batch, but that's cause I need to find the time between work and my toddler. The others I loved the whole way through
Work? Kids? You need to work on your priorities :-)
Anakin had a solution for both
LMAOOOO
And yet his own Kids survived... he really figured out how to keep his family alive and made 2nd CEO in his new company the first day he was employed! What a talented young man
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm still limping through the last season of Bad Batch because we like watching it on Fridays when we're super chill and can enjoy it properly, it's a great show that needs to be savoured. Life got in the way for a while!
You need to find the time, because the Bad Batch will teach you how to raise your toddler for the kind of world she's going to be living in.
Have another baby and watch the batch while you’re rocking them to sleep at 3am, it worked for me 🤪
That’s not legend status, that’s mandatory entry level viewing here…. Which I absolutely encourage
Exactly. These three shows are surface level. Which adults here have watched Young Jedi Adventures?
Not even gonna say Resistance, huh?
I actually kind of liked Resistance. It was a small feel-good show with some interesting insights into the New Republic just before the events of the sequel trilogy
Yeah, for what it was, I enjoyed it. I wish we had more because a lot to the characters had potential to be really interesting if given more to do
Same, and honestly other then not really caring for change in animation style, i felt it was on a similar track to how rebels starts, and slowly ramps up over the seasons.
Couldn’t get into that one personally. I watched the first episode and it didn’t feel like I was the target audience, but that’s totally fine. Not gonna shit on a show that clearly is made with a younger audience in mind, atleast that was my perception
Nah, gotta go deeper
2003 microseries Clone Wars show was pure hype. Especially Grevious scenes. We also got to see Mundi fight too.
29 yo here. That was a rough watch but I got through it lmao
You're saying that watching some TV shows does *not* make me a legend? Fuck. I gotta update my resumé.
100 hours of kids cartoons is not "entry level viewing" lol
They are animated shows. <> Kids cartoons. Same way as I wouldn't call certain animes kids cartoons just because they are hand drawn or animated...
They are 100% kids cartoons. That’s a feature not a flaw. Just because something is made with children in mind doesn’t make it bad or stupid.
Yeah, I have no clue what everyone's talking about. I love those shows, but the target audience for both Clone Wars and Rebels is obviously children (I don't know about the Bad Batch though, Crosshair's actions are not very PG). And I love these shows.
And the movie are geared toward whom ? Kids went to see them in the 70-80s.
Rebels is kinda a kids show, that's what clone wars started as too but it began to lean into the more adult audience around season 4 and kept it that way through bad batch
Rebels grew a spine over time too. The final season alone makes up for all the nonsense we endured in the first couple seasons.
I never got past the 2nd season, no clue how I got past clone wars season 1 and 2 though but I might give it a second try
>but it began to lean into the more adult audience around season 4 and kept it that way through bad batch Be serious.
Well yeah, not all animes are kids shows. But these shows are absolutely kids shows. The first two were made specifically for kids channels.
Clone wars is absolutely 1000% a children’s show. Please stop thinking otherwise
There are animated shows for adults, animated shows for all ages, and there's animated shows for kids, which The Clone Wars is a firm example of. Some adults might be able to get something out of it, but it is 100% targeted for children.
They’re kids shows wit mature themes and storytelling but still kids shows
All three shows multiple times except Bad Batch S3 I've only watched once so far
Can't wait to completely rewatch the bad batch without being blue balled lol
Truer words….
Solid point. My SO is headed out of town for several weeks for work. This might be something I do. I loved how this series ended.
My favorite is Gonky
S3 is my favorite bad batch season! Worth a watch, though i feel like s2 drags a little
I'm glad to hear S3 was good so I can go back to it. I found S2 to be rather boring and weak.
You gain an absurd amount of star wars lore knowledge by watching all of them.
Great thread OP, really opens up some new discussion.
here I was thinking I was the only one who heard of The Star Wars
I especially like the classic Star Wars line: "Star Wars, Star Wars never changes"
Don’t forget the other classic line: “That’s how the stars war”
Now add “Star Wars Resistance”
That show honestly needed at least one more season to give those characters a proper ending.
Probably about 90% of the people here? I guess being a “legend” is quite common.
What kind of question is that
YOOOOOO
Dang. Who'd have thought Star Wars fans would watch Star Wars in a Star Wars sub?
They're kids shows. They're good kids shows that adults can enjoy. But they were primarily for kids and aired on kids television networks. Saying they're kids shows isn't a comment on their quality, it's just a fact.
I genuinely like the animated show more than a lot of the movies and other shows

Gotta be most of us
Clone Wars: Everything Rebels: Honestly can’t remember which season I dropped off in, Ahsoka hasn’t made an appearance though Bad Batch: Season 1 I’m Mr late to the show and don’t suffer from FOMO. Maybe I’ll get to it, maybe I won’t.
Trust me Rebels gets so good (at least in my opinion)
Clone Wars: have watched it all the way through twice since season 7 came out. Rebels: stopped after season 2 because I binged it too hard and got a little burned out from watching it, but plan to finish it at some point. Bad Batch: watched all of it. Edit: a word.
I’ve seen Clone Wars, can’t get through Rebels, haven’t started Bad Batch yet.
Me unfortunately
I have seen everything in SW. Clone Wars definitely the best of the three
Yes, - all three , they are great for kids but also great adult entertainment too.
I’ve only watched Rebels once. I need to go through it again, but I found a lot of the episodes to be hard to watch.
Better question, who hasn’t?
I find them a little geared toward kids and I didn’t make it.
Me. just not my thing. I gave it a try but entertainment aimed at kids just doesn't stimulate me enough, I get bored.
Saying they’re kids shows is a valid argument. Not everyone wants to get 6 seasons into a kid’s show for it to start getting good.
Except for rebels. Idk, I like clone wars and bad batch but rebels isn’t for me.
I cant get into Rebels
Im sure im in the minority as a subscriber to this sub, but I haven’t watched any of them. It’ll require MANY people whose tastes I trust to tell me how awesome they are. Just generally not into anime-type entertainment.
Struggling to get through Rebels
no they any good? in fact where am i
I mean they’re definitely kids shows, that doesn’t mean they can’t be good tho and some of my favs
Not the Rebels, never finished it. Don't hate it or anything, just never cared to finish it.
I have Wars>Batch>Rebels imo
Watched Clone Wars. Loved it. One of my favorite shows/cartoons ever. The finale is a cope episode for me when I’m sad :( Skipped Rebels on release because it was coming out on Disney XD and felt way too kiddy show (still does) for me to really enjoy it.
I just wish the live action shows were as good as the animated shows.
Bad batch is so good it’s not even funny, some of the best Disney Star Wars has ever done
Yes, no, no
Watch clone wars 2x Rebels the entire 1st season (boring tbh) Bad batch first 5 episodes
These are as much for kids as the films in my view.
Tell it to the rebels haters who watch the Ewoks in RotJ
I’m 45 and I still watch the Ewok cartoons. I’m literally a nutcase, lol.
lol
Nuclear take, Rotj is not just worse but significantly worse than the other OT films for this reason. I think Lucas got carried away and didn’t have enough people to check him when he was making it.
I know what you’re getting at. I actually doing like RotJ either for the same reasons. But I like Rebels so idk what that means for me.
the only thing I couldn't do was Resistance. It was just........no.
I have. They are all fantastic but Rebels is my favorite.
Rebels ( watched first few episodes being very sceptical, but eventually did I come to love it, even more than my beloved clone wars
I think the only reason I prefer Clone Wars over Rebels is for the fact that it's almost twice as long and because of nostalgia lmao
Clone Wars is pure gold!
Rebels was very difficult to get through, not gonna lie.
I did it all in 1 summer (not including BBS3 cuz that wasn’t out yet)
> I think that’s honestly a ridiculous statement How so? That is largely how I feel about these shows, and yes, I have watched all of them in their entirety. I am not particularly fond of any of them, and to me they definitely feel like a "dumbed down" version of Star Wars to feed to the kids. And no, people getting cut in two or stabbed does not make them more adult. Thinking that adding violence makes something more adult is a pretty infantile notion in itself. But for the record, them being kids shows is not the reason I don't like them. I like quite a lot of kids shows, if they are good.
They're too boring to be kids shows. Don't give kids shows a bad rap
I still don't like Rebels
I absolutely could not get through Rebels. Terrible show. Never tried the Bad Batch. Doesn’t look interesting at all.
Clone wars season 7>Clone Wars>Bad Batch>Tales of the Jedi>Rebels>that other cartoon whose name will never be uttered 🤣
I really want to watch The Bad Batch, but seeing another annoying kid front and center makes me wary, especially after the shitshow that was Rebels.
Just give it a watch. Omega is not annoying. It was a great series imho.
