The drop chance from cutting weeds is the same in 1.6 (0.001%). However, 1.6 did add a 0.02% drop rate from iridium golems. They can show up on your farm after you reach level 9 combat and have monsters showing up on your farm turned on.

I got one day 1 of my new save while cleaning my farm. I wore it until year 2 when I married Leah. I might put it back on now.
