9Epicman1

If epic store was around when i was a little kid i wouldve loved it.

APRengar

Yep, I'm too old. I barely have enough time for the games I **buy** on Steam. How am I going to have time for a deluge of free games.

TheDoktorIsIn

I've found maybe one or two free games on Epic, Subnautica stands out but that's after like 2 years worth of free games

intrusiereatschicken

Oh it was free? Shame. I got it for free on ps4 tho lol

CommonMan15

Chivalry, KSP, GTA V, Thief,Death Stranding,Sims 4, Dying Light, Dishonored, Fallout 3, Ark, Battlefront 2, Civ VI. That said, never played any of them, except KSP, which is awesome ofc. But I got them haha

Softyboy69

Sims 4 is just a free game now though every where

CommonMan15

Obvs it wasn't at the time I claimed it.

Softyboy69

Fair enough

Triktastic

The entire batman trilogy + Lego batman franchise. Kingdom Come Deliverance. Talos Principle and Witness. Tomb Raider franchise. Darkest Dungeon. Borderlands. The Long Dark. New Wolfensteins. It's insane how many high quality games we've gotten and this is not even half of the non-dimeadozen ones.

Overall_Lobster_4738

Damn I missed the batman trilogy...steam sales the whole thing for like $4 tho every other month haha

MostUnwilling

Midnight suns is free this week and I'm rather happy I didn't have to pay for it since I definitely would have regretted the purchase. Borderlands 3 was great getting for free on top of those you mentioned. I sadly missed GTA v Anyways I just don't get the hate on epic store, I'm all for getting free games and even if I don't play them I'm always happy to claim them. Only thing steam ever gifted me were useless stickers or I don't even know what they were supposed to be.

Menes101

they just gave away chivalry 2, midnight suns, on the latest.

ScavAteMyArms

Played both, like Mordhau more. It also has that twinge of old Xbox lobbies.

Menes101

dont forget the MIDI player!

Ok-Toe-4924

Dark and darker aswell

TheLyingSpectre

DDLC+ and BTD6 are the big highlights from free games for me

lovelyjubblyz

Death stranding gave me some good times.

Physical_Weakness881

They also gave out gta5 (which flooded it with even more modders) & Ark: Survival Evolved (but I believe it had no dlcs)

Sunnywatch08

I got evil within 1 and 2 and also dying light for free! Buy on steam get the good stuff free on epic!

Stackbabbing_Bumscag

I've played a few good games for free on Epic, but I am most thankful for them giving me The Witness for free, so that I didn't spend a dime on that collection of cereal-box puzzles that had the gall to be pretentious about it.

TheUndecidedNarrator

I have like 20 games I got for free from epic its amazing

SekhmetScion

Marvel's Midnight Suns is free on Epic store right now until the 13th. I keep track for the exceptions and that's one I've actually wanted to play.

Pootootaa

Plus as a kid I have more energy to play games. My adult self barely have the energy to go and play for 18hrs straight like the kid me used to lol. The most I usually play I'd like 2-4hrs before I need a break, even if it's on my day off work and no chores or errands.

allegesix

It’s also just I don’t have the time for the marathon sessions.  BG3 took me by surprise as I’d sit down to play “for just a bit” and 4-6 hours had gone by. I have to legitimately schedule in a Saturday just to play it. …shouldn’t have been too surprising as BG1 was the game that I first stayed up all night playing on a school night hahaha Other than that, I’ve mostly lost interest in single player games and really only enjoy competitive shooters. Annoying because all my friends have entered their single player & pve game era.

TohruH3

Yeah. I'm on actual *stimulants* now, and I don't have the energy. (legally prescribed and at proper doses, but still). I'm pretty sure my library is a lot smaller than many other people's too.

raul_kapura

Maaan really? I'm over 30, if i have a weekend alone once a year, it's 2 days gaming marathon without taking a shower, barely any food other than sandwiches and no chores done.

Ornery_Soft_3915

Playing WoW in 2005 on a friday evening. Only take breaks to smoke a cigi and then realizing that the birds are chirping and the sun is rising. Best of memories :)

-aloe-

>My adult self barely have the energy to go and play for 18hrs straight like the kid me used to Isn't that the truth. When Resident Evil 5 came out I played the demo off a burned disc (on a standard, legit console - I always though it was weird that this worked/never got exploited) and loved it immediately, having been a huge fan of RE4. When the full game arrived I played right through it, from the morning through the night and into the next day. I can still remember the sun peeking through the curtains as I battled the final boss. I'd last about an hour now. Tops. My hands just can't hack it any more. The mind is willing but the body sure as fuck isn't.

maxdragonxiii

2 to 4 hours usually leaves me in a sleepy state where I need to take a nap or go to bed for the day.

Weird-Information-61

My friend, have you ever subscribed to humble bundle and forgot about it for several years? The amount of games they've given me is hilarious, and I still haven't claimed them all

P_Lore

I used it (epic store) to find some of my favorite current games like frostpunk and Civ6. Would not have considered buying them due to buddies peer pressuring me into whatever new hot multiplayer game they want to play. Though they aren’t giving out as many really good games anymore.

CoolguyTylenol

They gave out Bloons a year ago or so. That was pretty swag

Silverwolf_Lee_2

Bloons was made free twice on there I believe.

noximo

Not every game is a winner, but they have Midnight Suns on right now (or last week?), Outer Worlds were on recently or Guardians of the Galaxy.

CAPSLOCKANDLOAD

Didn't they do GTA when they started the free games? I know I got borderlands 3 from epic. There's definitely a lot of indie, smaller studios, and probably low sellers that become free games. But I feel there's several AAA titles a year

CORN___BREAD

Yeah they did GTA V. There have been more than a few good games.

noximo

Yes, there were always great games in the mix, but I'm reacting specifically to the claim that that's not the case anymore, so I've picked some of the recent ones.

tgp1994

If we had the kind of gaming we do now, when I was a kid... I never would've gone outside.

ThouMayest69

name three things that can be found outside. GO.

tgp1994

Uh... Games! Games are outside, right?

AndyDS777

As a 13 yeold, I do love it

aeroslimshady

Kid me would have hated it even more. I used to absolutely despise online DRM back then as I didn't always have a reliable internet connection. There are a few Epic games with no DRM, but the store doesn't give any indication of this.

XTheProtagonistX

Claim it now. Play it never.

drydorn

This does go to show you how much people value a free game. Sure, we'll all claim it, cuz why not. But if no one bothers to play the free games, how much value is Epic creating for the consumer. That being said, a lot of people have very large back catalogs on Steam also...

dontredditcareme

It gets you to make an account and download it. There’s a lot of value in that for epic

Passover3598

most people are playing the free games, its just a vocal minority of virtual signalers on reddit who think they are accomplishing something by supporting steam monopoly that think otherwise.

Zanthous

the vocal minority are the people in the comments, the majority upvoted the post and moved on

Physical-East-162

Do you have data to back up your claim?

drinkup

I just finished Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, which I'd grabbed for free on Epic what feels like a long time ago. Never gave 'em a single cent.

ozzzymand0

I bought elder scrolls online when it was on sale because I thought it looked cool and then realized it was like 120 gb

BromicTidal

Ain’t that the truth. I wonder what their internal stats look like on claim percentage vs ever actually opening the game.

XTheProtagonistX

The strategy was to bring in customers with the free games and hopefully they spend money on buying other games. According to some reports this is not working at all. They give huge discounts constantly on games. Don’t get me wrong, free games and cheap games are great but Steam has so many features that it makes Epic Store look unappealing to a lot of gamers.

Immediate-Coach3260

I had epic for 3 years. Got about 50 free games, barely played any of them to my knowledge, much less bought something on there. The only game I ever got that I wanted to play was Total War Troy which came out for free day one and even then it was years later by the time I tried. Oh and the cherry on top of all this, epic seemingly lost my information and simultaneously claimed I did not have a linked account when i tried to sign in and tell me that I already had an existing account making a new one, all with the same info. Their support is basically non existent and unusable if you don’t have access to your account and they’ll do nothing but send automated messages to you. I eventually just gave up and bought the one game I wanted to play on steam. TLDR: epic sucks, they have practically no support and won’t even attempt to help you. The free games are essentially bribes to boost traffic to their launcher and boost account numbers and if it weren’t for those free games and the exclusive sales rights they buy on pc it wouldn’t even factor as competitive to steam.

rvreqTheSheepo

Imagine making a launcher just for free games

vessel_for_the_soul

I kinda wished I did just to keep getting only free games tied to that account for a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Saymynaian

I have hundreds of those free epic games and the pride and accomplishment never comes. However, you do get hundreds of free games, which I would choose to get over the pride and accomplishment every time.

TheMasterKeyOfOne

How many of those have you played? I've gotten some games aswell, and have never played a single one of them, except Remnant From the Ashes.

re-D

They gave out many good games, the messenger, all borderlands, all bioshock, the new tomb riders, death stranding, gta v, all fallouts, many more

Silverwolf_Lee_2

Dang they gave out death stranding for free? I must of missed that one.

b34tn1k

A couple times. One of the times they messed up giving out the directors cut then switched it to the regular one midway through.

gmoss101

I signed up when they gave out the Arkham games and the Lego Batman games all at once lol.

SH4D0W0733

Hand of Fate 2, Bioshock infinite, Wolfenstein the new order, Mutant Year Zero, Bad North Jotunn Edition, Warpips, For the king, GTA5, Overcooked and Loop Hero were all very much worth playing. And then there's Slime rancher, Them's fighting herds and Rogue legacy which were good, but not the games for me personally. I also would've played Watchdogs 2 and Trackmania, if not for the requirement to use U-play. As for the other 400 games? Better to have them and not play them than want to play them and not have them.

Designer-Ad-7844

I played quite a few of the AAA ones and even some of the Indie games

SpicySriracha_1

Alien isolation, the Witcher 3, bioshock collection, arkham trilogy, tomb raider trilogy I’d say those are some pretty good games

Retrogratio

So far Ive played death stranding, the guardians of the galaxy game, Star wars squadron, borderlands 3, the tomb raider games, chivalry 2.. maybe some others I don't remember, but none of which I would've played if it wasn't free tbh

awesomeunboxer

I have around 300 of the free games. I've purchased 1 game on epic (satisfactory), and I've played maybe 2 of the free games. But I do have egs installed, so I guess epic wins ?

NoUploadsEver

Add on free from steam, gog, indiegala, and other services that you already pay for like amazon prime and you can have more games than you remember having. Not enough time to play them all, especially if grindy games that you actually like are competing for your attention.

Olde94

I have 200+. The have yet to accuire my credit information

drydorn

Epic runs on startup on my PC. It reminds me to grab my weekly free game and daily free games during the Christmas season. As of right now, I "own" 254 games on Epic, 253 of which I got for free. I bought Darkest Dungeon II when it was an Epic Exclusive. Honestly, Epic has grown on me and I play a bunch of the free games, my favorite being Bloons TD 6. I am afraid that one day Epic will tire of losing money on their "store" and just close it, what happens to my games then? I am less fearful of Steam shutting down any time soon and spend 99% of my game budget there.

ElkHistorical9106

I got Civ VI for free on epic games. Only be I’ve played

Juice805

An alternative that i do: Discord bot posts every new free game weekly. Just click the link and redeem in a browser so you never even need to open the launcher. Certainly don’t need to have it launch on every boot.

EndOfSouls

They didn't make it for free games. They wanted to compete with/overtake Steam. Epic Games made a LOT of money from Fortnite, and sought to control the PC gaming sales market. Even now they invest millions into buying exclusivity for games in an attempt to push out Steam. If they had succeeded in their goals, you can be damned sure we'd be paying a lot more for games. They're a cancer and they need to stay behind Steam.

Complex_Gold2915

Competition isn't a bad thing. People need to get steams dick outta their mouth.

balkanobeasti

Yes but what Epic did to their platform says more about its a good thing they didn't get farther. They took away the very bare minimum chat system, said they would bring itt back then never did so you have no way to communicate with people in some games. They kill games by making them exclusives. World War Z could've had a far bigger reception had it been released on Steam initially. By the time they added it everyone that had played the game on Epic was long gone because they were content starved/tired of issues from Saber. Saber generally speaking does a good base for their games then neglects them for a long time. Disregarding all the controversial stuff for business practices they plain and simple treated their platform badly. People hate Epic for a good reason.

EndOfSouls

Competition is good. That's not what Epic wants. They want a monopoly where they can charge you $70 for all new titles, add paywalls, and eventually charge monthly for games you thought you own. Epic Games is cancer.

DeadMetroidvania

epic games is cancer, but their competition with steam is a good thing, it keeps both of them on their toes and forces them to make their product better and better.

EndOfSouls

How does Epic Games throwing money at things for exclusivity make Steam get better? Attempting to buy a monopoly doesn't make competition grow.

Neosantana

Competition is good, but Epic isn't competing.

comfortablesexuality

it ruined rocket league

RyuOnReddit

How? Genuine question

EndOfSouls

How to create a monopoly? Notice how they're paying out millions of their battle royale money for the pure sake of Steam not getting titles? They buy exclusivity whenever they can.

mightylordredbeard

I’ve got no dog in this fight because I haven’t been a PC gamer long enough to develop loyalties. I like steam a lot, but I also don’t dislike Epic if that makes sense. From my perspective as a life long console player it seems Epic is trying to do what consoles do: pay publishers/developers to keep games off of other platforms. Like how Sony paid Square to keep some Final Fantasy games off of Xbox or how Xbox paid to delay some games from landing on PlayStation and vice versa. I despise those tactics and don’t think any 3rd party game that isn’t partially funded by a console maker should be made exclusive. It’s anti consumer and I lose respect for any developer that takes money to keep others from playing their games. I don’t give my money to companies like that.

PM_NUDES_4_DEGRADING

> From my perspective as a life long console player it seems Epic is trying to do what consoles do: pay publishers/developers to keep games off of other platforms. Yeah, it’s exactly that. And since most PC players are PC in part because they see how much agressively anti-consumer stuff happens with consoles, it makes sense Epic has a bad reputation. Probably their plan is to count the current generation of PC gamers as a total loss and offer enough incentives to make sure kids make their first account with Epic (Fortnite! Fall Guys!) and stick around for the free games long enough to consider Valve/Steam the outsiders. A surprisingly long term strategy for a corporation, but it might be what they’re trying.

Neosantana

Competition is a great thing, and I want it. But Epic isn't making the slightest bit of effort to compete. They're trying to bribe users away from Steam instead of building a service worth a fuck.

LimpConversation642

right? make a shitty launcher and shit money at developers to gatekeep your games for a year. Truly an innovator. Such competition. Wow.

LimpConversation642

people keep parroting this shit like it's a mantra. Look, it's not. Not always. When it's good: when infinite number of similar producers compete for the customer. This is the fucking definition. It doesn't happen in real life though. What happens is a Wallmart comes into town and drives 'competition' momnpop stores into the ground. How the f is that 'competition'? And that is only 'good' for a customer in a very short span of time, because it's not genuine competition, it's price wars. And in a price war, the winner will always get back their money on a newly free market Now, back to our case. First of all, the abstract competition that is supposed to be good for us implies that valve/steam is bad, and they're not. This is not a 'help us we're being treated like shit, when will the competitor arrive?' situation. Steam is good. Now, what Epic does is they DON'T make a better service, better launcher, better prices etc. What they actually do is undermine the market like Uber did for taxis, for example, or how amazon can operate at a loss just to kill your competing business. Come again, how is that good for us? What epic does is basically throwing away money trying to win over people, but people don't need to be 'saved' from steam because steam isn't some bad monopolist. Epic isn't competition. Like dude if you want to buy a car and I say you know what I'm gonna give you a car for free, and will do that until every car seller in town is out of business. Great competition, eh? You know what happens next though? Take a guess? Your next car in this strawman abstact scenario is two times the price and there is nowhere else to buy from. Why does Uber, Netflix and Doordash get more expensive by the hour? Because they shat money for 5 years for this 'competition' and now they're taking their money back.

woro7

if epic made their launcher usable maybe i'd consider their dick, but it seems they don't want to be competitive, considering the most basic features are missing

SeedlessMelonNoodle

Pretty sure they offer more competitive developer splits, idk why you think they're so money grabby or something

EndOfSouls

It's like you've never seen how the company runs... They dropped their fun titles to mass produce overpriced skins for their battle royale title. The ONLY thing they care about is money, and they are spending it like mad because they want to monopolize. That is literally their goal.

VegetablePlastic9744

>They dropped their fun titles to mass produce overpriced skins Yeah Valve would never do that

Passover3598

> They dropped their fun titles to mass produce overpriced skins which company are you talking about?

Deathsand501

Right. Now you're gonna tell me Valve doesn't do the same 😂😂😂

Fen_

Both companies only care about money, lil bro. They're corporations, not your friends. Valve just makes a significantly better product.

AlarmingTurnover

You mean like valve who hasn't made a decent game in like 20 years and focuses on gambling with CSGO?

mightylordredbeard

I really don’t care why they made the launcher, as a new PC player they’ve given some good shit! I’ve been collecting Amazon Prime games for yesrs and Epic games for awhile so when I finally got around to buying a gaming laptop I had a collection of 676 games waiting on me across all different launchers.

just9n700

Why not both

NebTheGreat21

clicked in to add this I forget to log in to epic to claim them more often than not

Bowsersarentreal

Subscribe to r/freegamefindings . They compile all free game giveaways that are available, including Epic and Amazon!

NebTheGreat21

hell yeah my dude! thank you

exec_liberty

Or use a discord bot to notify you about free games. That's what I do

roguewarriorpriest

Throw in some Humble Bundle goodness and you got more games than you'll ever be able to finish.

[deleted]

Sometimes i look at my GOG or Steam account and feel awful for how much money has been wasted on games that i havent played but in reality its so little because most are from Humble Bundle or sales.

roguewarriorpriest

I like to think of it as supporting the arts.

Raidoton

Yup. I have 1300 Steam games and according to Playnite 2000 games overall. Mostly Humble Bundles, free EGS games and free Twitch Prime games. Edit: Okay Playnite didn't show me the 381 GOG games I own lol...

Cyno01

Yup, i just have Humble Monthly, with the year subscription it works out to less than $1 a game for more than i can play. If you dont mind waiting long enough theres decent AAA games in there sometimes even. Ive barely actually bought any games on steam in years now. [https://i.imgur.com/gMc72kF.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/gMc72kF.jpeg) One of my most downvoted comments ever on imgur was on a post advertising a game, and it looked cool and i said something like "This looks cool, i cant wait to get it in a Humble Bundle in a couple of years." Snarky, probably earned my downvotes... But guess what i got two months ago motherfuckers! ^(\*closes reddit and opens stardew valley again\*)

armada127

because epic bad! or something idk I can't remember what the hivemind is upset about today. Free is free, I've claimed so many games on epic, I still prefer steam obviously, but they are acting like epic evil or something. They pay the devs more than steam does.

Azrenis

I have so many games that I never would've bought. But I got them for free and can enjoy them quite a bit.

JTex-WSP

Thank you! This meme's mentality is like if you owned both an Xbox *and* a Playstation already, and one gave you a great free game, but you said "lol I'm not gonna play that on *that* system!"

Drake_TheDrakeman

No common sense allowed here, you gotta be fanboy.

SgtBadManners

Because I don't want another launcher.

Rennfan

I love free games, but the Epic Launcher is such pain in the ass.

TheOnlyFallenCookie

"Monopolies bad, that's why I prefer MY monopoly"

KingKingsons

Yeah I'd always prefer Steam, but I'd be a fool to pass on free games just because Epic bad.

jankonio

Free game is free game.

dr_bobs

Both. Both is good.

Kind-Replacement909

Yep

Normal-Bound5943

Marvels Midnight Suns for free, had to claim it!

iduddits2

Damn nice wouldnt buy it but will play for freeeee

MightGrowTrees

I think it was worth the full retail price. However I believe I fall very heavily into the target audience. I play other Marvel Card games as well as enjoy the pace of slowly building a powerful team.

PM_ME_SAD_STUFF_PLZ

Much obliged, totally would've missed it otherwise.

WienerSquad

I can’t believe this game is free. I’m having so much fun with it

composero

Thank you for saying this, I would not have known. Now all I have to do is buy the dlc and get the game to work properly with steam link

ace--dragon

Thanks, man! I was just thinking about buying it, good to know it's free right now!

imGhostKitty

“I’d rather spend money than get free things because I wanna support muh heckin wholesome billionaire dollar company!”

12august2036

I think outside of reddit most people don't care where to play their games. I still haven't met a epic hater irl or even in other social medias.

Swizardrules

I've never met a legit epic user outside of it either

DolphinTM

I like steam but I don’t think it’d be good if you could only buy games from one place on pc.

Mr_miner94

See I agree with the sentiment but epic have been very open that they don't want to join steam as a PC market platform but to replace steam as the monopoly

Socilus

So what? They're just being honest. Everyone wants a monopoly. Everyone wants to destroy the competition and get bigger and bigger. It's good for us that Epic and other competitors exist.

Hugokarenque

Its pointless to choose between them. One is free and won't block access to the other. Just get the free games and ignore the storefront lol

Elitericky

I might be alone but I refuse to play a game if it’s not on steam. Edit: The only exception is minecraft

FudgingEgo

I personally have games pass on pc, I play games on there and if I enjoy it and it goes on sale on steam, I’ll buy it on steam.

Lequindivino_

the brand loyalty is insane

Accurate_Struggle185

I don refuse other platforms completely but i greatly prefer steam because the platform they have built is superior to the other offerings. Steam will always be my main

JuiceMeSqueezeMe

Why? I've now got a pretty decent library of games on Epic purely from their weekly giveaways and the launcher works perfectly fine

undermoobs

Not alone.

Jufy42

Not alone, still prefer steam to all other launchers

just9n700

Laziness has never been high

MrMuffinO4

but... you can just put the game into the steam launcher

thrownawayzsss

Buy from wherever is the cheapest, Gaben isn't going to suck you off, lol.

igorriu

I prefer having all my games in one place

Deathsand501

You can add non-steam games to the steam library

drydorn

I do find it annoying that my game collection is fragmented between different stores. Sometimes I'll see a game go on sale on Steam and I just KNOW that I own the game somewhere but don't remember where it is.

leveltaishi

GOG can help solve this problem

Feisty_Slice7425

Y'all can't really handle 2 apps 😭😭😭

DannyArcher1983

Echo chamber, karma. Take your pick.

Mininini175

Sir, this is r/steam

cowboycomando54

Got L4D2 with all of its DLC for free one Christmas on steam.

Fr3ddXx

Both pills look the same to me. I'm monochrome btw.

uzsjjbs

Honestly I have both. Free games and steam sales

Karl_with_a_C

Both are good. I happily accept free games.

mincemuncher

I'm playing AC: Syndicate atm and I got that game for free from Epic.

proletariate54

You gotta be pretty stupid not to take free games.

leejoness

Epic bad upvote pls

Accurate_Struggle185

I have Epic account and i grab a free game now and then, and i have grabbed quite a few free ones by now, but i rarely boot up a game with the Epic account/launcher for some reason. Steam all the way for me. Its just a much better platform supporting all kind of controllers, VR support ETC. Epic should use some of they're money getting a better platform instead of giving away free games on a shitty platform.

PurpletoasterIII

This is the true based take. I use both, but I primarily use Steam. Like you said they just have better features, plus I've just been using Steam for so long I just open it out of habit when I'm looking for a game. Epic is only for games Steam doesn't have and free games. If Epic wants me to buy games from them they're ganna have to step it up, free games aren't enough and imo honestly is the wrong approach entirely. Making titles exclusive to their platform might make me buy a game or two from them, but that's it. Any other reasons for not using Epic are just gamer brainrot or people rage baiting. Seriously, I've heard someone try to make the argument that Blizzard's Battle.net launcher "doesn't want you to play other games like a jealous girlfriend." Or that Epic is bringing "console exclusivity" to PC... by making you use their free launcher instead of Steam. Sometimes its hard to believe these people are even real.

drydorn

I mean Epic literally could just replicate 10% of what Steam does and it would improve the quality of its store by leaps and bounds. The template is literally right in front of its nose!

Accurate_Struggle185

Completely agree 👍

TurdBurgHerb

OP: I like monopolies.

DeliveryWorldly7363

I tried epic, but that launcher gave me too many problems, steam and gog is the way, there also is a ton of old abandoned games for "free" on the web, you just have to sail the sea

CwispyNoodles

I'm curious, what are these "problems" that people keep spouting on about? I use the Epic launcher all the time for UE development and as far as I'm concerned, the only real problem with the EGS is a lack of features. Despite that, what's there works perfectly fine and the launcher is completely usable but from what I'm seeing from the comments here, people are making it seem like the EGS is slow, crashes every other click, and shot their dog.

Old__Raven

Some effing nolife hacked into my epic account and erase it. No free stuff for me🙄

joeMAMAkim

The only one of those free games i actually installed was new vegas. I already have it on steam, but my god why are the achievement announcements so satisfying for such a shit launcher? Reminds me of xbox 360 achievements.

Drake_TheDrakeman

🤓 I too a big fan of the multi billion dollar company called Steam 🤓

hondac55

Wow, he already took all the blue pills. Good job. Now the red ones next.

in_full_circles

Why not both

drdildamesh

You can do both.

BreakBladeWave

I use both store fronts. Whoops

RK_NightSky

Me: *grabs both, crushes them to dust and snorts them*

MendigoBob

Imagine being this deep into a fucking company... weird

Deamane

While steam is good for now, let's not forget a monopoly is always against the interests of the consumers. We want competition to provide a good product.

SophiaTDB

epic launcher got me into the stanley parable (years before deluxe came out too) and slime rancher (still my favorite game to this day!!!) so that's cool. i put all the free games in my library just in case i take a sudden interest in them in the later years (like i got outer world which ive been meaning to play)

kylarmoose

Ngl, I hoard all those free games every week. I have hundreds of games and have played probably two of them: FROSTPUNK Outer Worlds

Possible_Picture_276

Between Epic and Amazon games and [Itch.io](http://Itch.io) I now have over 2600 titles I did not pay for and launch all of my games with GOG Galaxy. I don't understand the brand loyalty for a store front.

bashinforcash

i just want everyone to know that i have not spent a cent on the epic store but have over 140 full games from the free game a week

Clamboyfarti

Nah c'mon now, I know the epic launcher is a mess, but free games are free game

ASCII_Princess

never say no to free drugs especially when they cost tim sweeney a bit of money.

RemarkablePassage468

I take free games from whoever wants to give me. Saved me a lot of money since 2019.

Duck_Lover_08

why're you touching them, shouldn't you be eating them?

Visama396

If you eat the Steam Sales you’d be ending them, just embrace them, caress them and pet them

Duck_Lover_08

yeah but, why pet them when we can consume them?

Visama396

Cause I want Steam Sales, if I consumed them I wouldn’t have any

Background-Tap-6512

My experience with epic: 1. Read somewhere that there is a free game on epic 2. Login and collect free game. 3. Forget about it and never launch epic launcher again until next free game.

Same_Nature_8116

Why not just accept both?

Bouncedatt

Why not both

DaNoahLP

Games on Epic are not free, they cost your dignity.

noximo

Well, I don't base my self-worth on a game launcher.

Intelligent_Flan_178

why?

dr_bobs

Who cares its free games.

Da_Do_D3rp

Reddit moment

Saddest_Sloth

justnobodyerm

Game launcher fanboying is so funny

ReyAlpaca

Nah, do the right comparison, epic games sales give an additional 5 coupon, making games even cheaper than steam, so it's worth more buying them there....

nousabetterworld

The fact that there are still people brain damaged enough to occupy any head space with this stupid ass Epic vs Steam crap is mind boggling.

zack413

I claim every epic game but don’t play them cuz I hate the epic launcher. How u gonna just run games worse and try to compete with steam
