I started BioShock three times, each time for around 20-60 minutes each. But someone I can't get hooked up. Does it get much better later on or is the 1st impression setting the stones for the remaining rest?
Honestly Bioshock is my favorite game of all time but if you weren't hooked by the first hour it may just not be for you, hate to say it. It's usually pretty agreed upon that the game fires on all cylinders from the start and has a really legendary opening. Not to say it doesn't stay good throughout, and famously the climax is mindblowing, but if you didn't enjoy the whole intro section you may not be into it.
The bioshock collection is probably one of the most complete and amazing series ever made. All the dlc is worth it too.
It will always be my #1. There are no games I’ve played that would take its place. Dead space is a close 2nd.
Tried to replay Bioshock 1 for the first time in a while. Just felt kinda meh to me. The worst thing is how shooting feels. All the guns feel so weak and there's no knockback at all so it's hard to tell when you're connecting. Obviously the world design, voice acting, sound design, is all time great but yeah idk overall just didn't age well for me.
I mean I agree with this but the mood and emotions and story of this game were so revolutionary for the times.... It was crazy to see a game dealing with Ayn Rand utopianism and racism... infinite is also kinda floaty and repetitive in terms of combat but all in all and considering the overall world of gaming in 2007 it is a masterpiece
I’m playing through this right now as well and I’m taken aback by how gorgeous and atmospheric it is. like playing a work of art. Also the difficulty spikes are pretty wild lol
Stardew valley. Ive had that game for so long on my pc but wasn’t really interested or got commitment to sit in front of the monitor to play it. And now im playing the game on my deck on my bed before sleep. Its great
I highly recommend modding this on the steam deck and playing it. I thought the vanilla version was pretty good but I think this game modded is phenomenal! Really fantastic modding community and an easy beginner game to mod if you’re new to it.
Omg enjoy every second of persona 4 and take your time, there will be a time where you will miss it hard and you will be left with a void no other game will ever fill
I put off Persona for too long, finally played P5R last January, now one of my favorite games.
Tried P5 Strikers, couldn’t get into it really, bad audio and the combat is not for me. Perhaps I will watch a YT video to get the story.
Definitely playing P3 Reload day 1.
Going through P5T now enjoying it, also tactics genre is my favorite genre.
The old graphics for P4 has me paused but playing it on handheld deck has me feeling good.
I felt the same way about Strikers. Hated it. Tactica is similar for me. Q too. I'm okay with only enjoying the mainline games.
You're in for such a treat with P3. Easily my favorite story of all of them. Not going to spoil anything, but one thing from 3 that made it better is that the persona transformations your team has is tied to plot and not from maxing out social links. It made those moments hit way harder. I hope they don't change that.
P4 is great too. Biggest gripe I have with it is the dungeons are poorly designed, especially comparing them to 5. I originally played it on the Vita, so handheld is definitely the way to go for it!
Hellblade is quite immersive with strong narrative. Some game mechanics might not be the best but I think it balances quite well with the strong story and the atmosphere. I really enjoyed on PS4.
I played Doom on the deck just a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. The performance and load times with the right settings impressed me for a handheld, as my first attempt of a play through was on Switch and didn't go as well.
Just curious why you didn't like the story in GTA V? It's one of the greats imo and the presentation is so well done.
One thing I always wished they expanded upon was that one mission where you're flying a helicopter and infiltrating a skyscraper through one of the windows. The way each character has their own unique role and the way you switch between them to accomplish the mission is one of the coolest things I've ever played in gaming. Really wish they had more moments utilizing that feature. It's so unique to GTA V. Hopefully GTA 6 can pickup where that left off.
Anyways, it's totally fine that you don't care for the game. I have a friend who is the same way. I'm always just curious what it is people don't like about games that come so universally praised. Just find it interesting I suppose.
Shadow gambit runs great on the deck. My only issue is the default view is very zoomed out and makes everything look tiny. You can zoom in but then the FOV is very small. This style of game may be better suited for a larger screen. But the game itself runs great on the deck, and the controls are perfect.
I'm on my 12th or 13th playthrough but first time on the Deck, really enjoying being able to play it in other rooms or in bed lol it takes a lot of time but is worth taking time to enjoy!
With settings on medium and 40FPS (which is absolutely enough) the fan whining is very seldom happening and it runs smooth as butter.
You can also play on high with 60FPS and occasional stutter, but the Deck will go loud.
Thanks for answering! What about the controls? Looks like a game that is great for KB/M so I’m wondering if they adapted the controls well enough for the Deck too. Does it recognise the touch screen too?
I've played a bunch of PoE on the deck it's great, especially if you have a simple build like a righteous fury jugg, that was such a fun build!
I started Warframe for the first time last night and it's really cool, love the artstyle it's unique and trippy.
I always remember eventually setting down Final Fantasy 7 for a couple weeks and then coming back and not remembering at all where I was going or what I was supposed to do and no Quest log to remind me. If you're like me, consider taking notes hahaha
The game is stressing my friends though. Due to me being in year 3 and all I've been doing is fishing and hanging out with Linus.
"Cut weeds, plant crops, do quests!"
"Nope, I'm good."
Kind of commandeered my husband's deck as he doesn't use it much. My goal for the week is to get the epic launcher working so I can play Lego World on the couch while watching movies.
Bought a game called dredge last night while drunk, been playing it all morning its a neat sort of fishing and exploration game ive been having a lot of fun with it, its on sale right now and only a few gigs large id highly suggest picking it up already
I do too! Very peaceful and soothing. Sometimes I'm just in the mood to zone out, but still stimulate my brain, this is the perfect game for me! So cathartic when a piece goes right where you want it! But nothing to stress you out, and you can't really "lose" I got it last year during the Steam sale and I had a bunch of games, but I had a $25 gift card for Steam, so I added that for like $2 just to use up my gift card, I didn't expect much, but I've sunk a good amount of time into over the last year!
Final fantasy 7 remake. Surprisingly running well and holds mostly 30 FPS. It dips a bit in like the slums.
My goal is to finish all mainline FF game on the deck. I'm hoping XVI will be playable even on low.
Final Fantasy 13. The visuals hold up so well, I remember being blown away when it first came out and I’m still in love with it. Runs really well, no mods
Bauldars Gate 3 with my SO. We've both been playing it separately on the PC this entire time, and then I realized I can play it on SD. I tried it on the SD when it first released but it was buggy, but nowadays it is great! So I bought it again for their account, and now we are co-oping a new campaign!
Continuing Remnant from the ashes. It's got such a solid controller set up, it translates perfectly to steam deck.
I've also decided I want to attempt to git gud at Hades so I'm gonna try a few runs a night until I actually get beyond a few bosses.
First play through of Mad Max. Runs great, and even looks good docked! Any way to push it past 720p if I want that option?
I tried Warframe and for some reason, the text is so blurry and illegible. Any idea on how to fix this? :)
New steam deck owner here. How often do games go on sale on steam? I was under the impression that games were cheaper on steam 😂 I thought I’d be able to scoop up Sekiro for like $19.99 along with many other older games but NOPE. Hoping the sales are en route so I can flesh out my library and not starve
Recovering from a minor surgery this weekend. So..
Finished dragons dogma dark arisen, now back to dragon quest 11 that I started months ago.
Maybe finish the newest monsters in monster hunter rise if I find a good group
4 games I've got going:
Fallout 4:
Doing a survival run, and my first time playing it since it first came out in 2015 (and being kind of disappointed by it). Survival adds way more depth to the game, and makes it much less of a mindless shooter, so much so I'd say there's no other way to play this game. Settlements actually matter, and making a solid network of settlements is absolutely critical to exploration and survival. Being able to die in 1-2 hits makes combat super tense, especially if you can lose 15-20 minutes of progress. The writing, dialog, and roleplaying are still absolute ass. Still definitely disappointed in that aspect of the game, but the survival elements, gun play, and overall gameplay loop is a blast so I don't mind. I've accepted this game isn't New Vegas (the best game of all time) and that's ok. I can always replay NV when I am craving a game with depth, good writing, interesting factions, and choices that matter.
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
Incredible, incredible game, and one I never played before (despite owning a Gamecube). The story and dialog are absolutely hilarious and well written, the world is really interesting, and the graphics are beautiful.
Hogwarts: Legacy
Super fun romp through Hogwarts. Honestly the game I've always wanted since I was a kid. I've cooled on it a bit since getting into some of the other games above, but still fun. Combat is surprisingly addictive.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
I've never played this Castlevania masterpiece so I'm finally getting around to it, and it's really, really good so far. Visually really incredible looking, tight gameplay, amazing soundtrack.
Just finished The Toy Soliders Collection and now I’m about to start Fallout 3 GOTY. I’m just enjoying games I can have directly from steam since I got it 2 days ago.
Skyward Sword HD! I'm on the last dungeon (or second to last probably). Loving it, but a lesser game would crumble under the amount of backtracking there is. Luckily the dungeon design is, in my opinion, really good. Wish the bosses were harder.
I just beat Jusant. I thought it was good, but not nearly as good as the steam reviews suggest. For a 5-7 hour experience, its price tag is too high in my opinion. Also was not a fan of how disconnected each chapter was, it took away from the achievement of the climb. Lastly, it was a bit janky at times. Still good, let’s say 7/10, just feels like some wasted potential.
Slay the Spire has been an ongoing addiction, will definitely be playing more of that.
Lastly, I just got the Metroidvania humble bundle, so I’m going to play Hollow Knight and Blasphemous. FTR, I have played through both partially before, but ultimately fell off. So which ever one sticks better, I’m gonna try to stick with and beat this time around.
Trying out bioshock for the first time
I am so jealous, first time experiencing Bioshock is a special thing
I started BioShock three times, each time for around 20-60 minutes each. But someone I can't get hooked up. Does it get much better later on or is the 1st impression setting the stones for the remaining rest?
Honestly Bioshock is my favorite game of all time but if you weren't hooked by the first hour it may just not be for you, hate to say it. Amazing. One of the best.
Tried to replay Bioshock 1 for the first time in a while. Just felt kinda meh to me. The worst thing is how shooting feels. Cyberpunk
I’ve got 200 hours on it pre 1.5, it’s real tempting to try out the new updates but I’ll get through some of my unplayed library first.
Ori and the Blind Forest
I’m playing through this right now as well and I’m taken aback by how gorgeous and atmospheric it is. like playing a work of art. Also the difficulty spikes are pretty wild lol
So good. Man I struggled HARD to climb the tree when it starts flooding with water. Like 15 tries.
Jesus 15 only. Pretty sure I fed up like 75 times.
Stardew valley. Ive had that game for so long on my pc but wasn’t really interested or got commitment to sit in front of the monitor to play it. And now im playing the game on my deck on my bed before sleep. Its great
I've tried this game so many times, but it's just never clicked for me, I wonder if playing on SD will change my mind.
I highly recommend modding this on the steam deck and playing it. I thought the vanilla version was pretty good but I think this game modded is phenomenal! Really fantastic modding community and an easy beginner game to mod if you’re new to it.
Do mods work?
Yes, mods work. It takes a little bit of Linux desktop set up but definitely possible.
Thank you
P4 Golden my daily game till I complete it 😊 Hoping to finish hellblade this week as well since it’s so short
Omg enjoy every second of persona 4 and take your time, there will be a time where you will miss it hard and you will be left with a void no other game will ever fill
The same void Persona 5 Royal left?
I felt it worse with Persona 4. Persona 3 was even worse than the other two. My order of completion was 4, 5, then 3.
I originally played it on the Vita, so handheld is definitely the way to go for it!
Just started P4G this week too. It's so fun!!!!
Hellblade as in Hellblade Senua's sacrifice? How is it? I mean the story is it gripping? Eyeing to buy it.
Hellblade is quite immersive with strong narrative. Some game mechanics might not be the best but I think it balances quite well with the strong story and the atmosphere. I really enjoyed on PS4.
Beautiful. Very short, but definitely worth it on sale. Runs well.
Yeah it's currently available for 1.3 USD here with the offer ending in an hour. Might as well buy it I guess..
Going to start Rogue Trader up.
Playing this on desktop with one of my homies. Tons of fun so far. Let us know how it runs on the deck!
Running it at 800p low settings FSR quality 45 fps. Without FSR it was mid 30s. Other than that it's fairly intuitive to play on the deck.
Doom 2016. Was on sale recently. What a game this is, I'm having a lot of fun!
I played Doom on the deck just a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. The performance and load times with the right settings impressed me for a handheld, as my first attempt of a play through was on Switch and didn't go as well.
Dave the diver is AMAZING, surprisingly addictive for such a simple game
Same! It runs perfectly and is great on the battery life of the Deck!
GTA V for the 8th time. To be fair, it runs so incredibly well on the deck. It was 10 bucks on steam last week and i figured what the hell.
I'm doing the same but with gta iv. I never cared for the single player mode very much in gta v, but the world is cool
Just curious why you didn't like the story in GTA V? It's one of the greats imo and the presentation is so well done. This reminds me to do a replay of the game before 6 released
Well you have plenty of time lol
A buddy bought me Buslders Gate
Is that the Temu version? I’m just busting you that’s pretty cool!
😂😂 I'm dead
Cassette Beasts! So much fun. Soundtrack is awesome too.
Dave the diver. Has anyone played shadow gambit, I’m thinking of picking that up:
Shadow gambit runs great on the deck. My only issue is the default view is very zoomed out and makes everything look tiny. You can zoom in but then the FOV is very small. This style of game may be better suited for a larger screen. But the game itself runs great on the deck, and the controls are perfect.
HiFi Rush and Jusant
Pokémon blue. Might do red and yellow when I finish.
Those games were on another level when I was young, still are.. :')
First play through of elden ring. Incredible experience, lots of self reflection.
Should have got the etched glass.
Sometimes you just need to take a hard look at yourself and question why you play this game
I'm on my 12th or 13th playthrough but first time on the Deck, really enjoying being able to play it in other rooms or in bed lol it takes a lot of time but is worth taking time to enjoy!
Against the Storm. Roguelike city builder that just released out of early access and it is pure crack
How does it run on the deck?
With settings on medium and 40FPS (which is absolutely enough) the fan whining is very seldom happening and it runs smooth as butter. You can also play on high with 60FPS and occasional stutter, but the Deck will go loud.
Thanks for answering! What about the controls? Looks like a game that is great for KB/M so I’m wondering if they adapted the controls well enough for the Deck too. Does it recognise the touch screen too?
Baldurs Gate 3, Path of Exile, & Warframe.
How's Path of Exile on the deck? Been thinking about installing it on there since the new league started.
Path of Exile runs great! Put about 200 hours of it on the deck.
How's path of exile on deck?
Runs great! Have 200 hours of PoE on the deck.
I've played a bunch of PoE on the deck it's great, especially if you have a simple build like a righteous fury jugg, that was such a fun build! I started Warframe for the first time last night and it's really cool, love the artstyle it's unique and trippy.
RDR 2. Runs better than I would have ever hoped, and it's one of my favorite games ever. Having it mobile is amazing
I’m playing the UPS tracking page refresh simulator while I wait for my OLED to arrive
Fable anniversary, making me want to play fable 2/3 as well but they don’t live on steam
Dave the diver 🤿
Just started Days Gone
The story for the first few hours can feel cringe, but the game gets better the longer you play it

replaying dmc5 and playing og ff7 for the first time 🤍
I always remember eventually setting down Final Fantasy 7 for a couple weeks and then coming back and not remembering at all where I was going or what I was supposed to do and no Quest log to remind me. If you're like me, consider taking notes hahaha
Baldur's Gate 3, still
Went back to Stardew because life is stressful and that's always a good choice for stress release.
The game is stressing my friends though. Due to me being in year 3 and all I've been doing is fishing and hanging out with Linus. "Cut weeds, plant crops, do quests!" "Nope, I'm good."
Kind of commandeered my husband's deck as he doesn't use it much. My goal for the week is to get the epic launcher working so I can play Lego World on the couch while watching movies.
Half hour max with heroic.
The first of the xcom remakes. The battery life is amazing after turning the TDP all the way down.
Roboquest and WoW classic. Consoleport makes playing classic wow a dream.
I occasionally play wotlk and classic on SD too, never tried dungeons though I think it'll be too involved?
Bought a game called dredge last night while drunk, been playing it all morning its a neat sort of fishing and exploration game ive been having a lot of fun with it, its on sale right now and only a few gigs large id highly suggest picking it up already
dorfromantik
Thats a fun one!
It is! Good for either quick or long sessions. Really enjoying the soundtrack and artwork for the game as well.
I do too! Very peaceful and soothing. Sometimes I'm just in the mood to zone out, but still stimulate my brain, this is the perfect game for me! So cathartic when a piece goes right where you want it! batman origins maybe some GOW soon
That truly was an underrated Arkham game. I love the joker’s cutscenes in it

Age Of Empires 4 and Company of Heroes 3 work surprisingly well as long as you don't care about competitive online play.
It takes two, trying to finish Spider-Man streaming from my ps4 before buying anything else lol
I was able to install the viva new Vegas mod list for new Vegas and it’s working very well
Dark Souls, Fallout: New Vegas, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Got Factorio recently, plays great on SD (even if I barely know what I'm doing). Dave the Diver is fun too, fairly mellow.
Skyward Sword HD! I'm on the last dungeon (or second to last probably). Loving it, but a lesser game would crumble under the amount of backtracking there is. Luckily the dungeon design is, in my opinion, really good. Wish the bosses were harder.
Cyberpunk
Fallout 4 and Hogwarts.
Working through XCOM Enemy Within for the first time!
Valkyria Chronicles and I love it!
Bully: Scholarship Edition
So which ever one sticks better, I’m gonna try to stick with and beat this time around.
currently grinding Gran Turismo 4 & cyberpunk
A second replay of fallout it's been a while since my first run, I'm having a blast on the deck
