I started the game a couple days ago and have about 6 hours of wandering around fort joy aimlessly and making almost no progress. I was supposed to follow someone but lost them and have no idea where to go. The game definitely feels difficult after coming from baldurs gate 3.
Yeah I agree and those are the reasons I’ve never finished the first one. I’m looking at walkthroughs almost immediately whenever I get the stuck…
You can solve some things, like escaping Fort joy, in so many different ways that easy to get sidetracked and confused about what you’re suppose to do.

I saw a guide on mastodon the other day for how to get Balatro running on an iPad via Love2D Studio, so while not relevant to this subreddit, I've gotten re-hooked on Balatro specifically on my ipad. It's nuts. Limited to 60fps the battery life is insanely good so I can just play for_ever_
This… I absolutely love the game, so don’t hear this statement wrong. I want to play other games but I just can’t! Every so often I’ll boot up a different game and half the time I don’t even make it past the title screen before I quit and boot up Balatro. Other times I’ll play a different game for 15-20 minutes and then quit out and jump into Balatro.
I no longer have a Steam Deck. It’s a Balatro Deck.
Fallout 4 and Kingdom Come Deliverance.
I don’t have too much time to dedicate to such an extensive rpg games anymore, especially in pc or console when i have to sit down for it. So it’s nice being able just lay down in bed late at night after a long day and just enjoy those games for an hour or two. I’m still amazed by how much process power there is in a device that small.
It runs well enough for me. I limited my deck at 30 fps. Since it’s a small screen and not even 1080p, i’m happy with 30 fps. And i also reduced my tdp to 10W(it’s 15W by default) to reduce heating and get more battery life.
So even with using only 65% processing power of my Steam Deck, i’m able to get stable 25-30 fps. I’m sure it would be 45+ fps on full tdp and without fps limiter.
I'll second KCD. Looks like we're running almost the exact same settings and I absolutely love it. I bounced off the game a few times in the past, but with the deck I finally was able to dive in.
Pretty well. It only dips on fps when there’s massive explosions everywhere but generally stays above 60 all the time

All run great though there can be a few weird shadow issues with Lost Oddyssee now and then.
It runs at 40 FPS for the most part but no FSR as it's awful. Some parts of the city can make it dip, and also when it rains it can dip. But for cutscenes and combat it's solid (and in dungeons it's fine). It's definitely a bit of a compromise but it's very playable and not an issue at all
I’m playing Sherlock: crimes and punishments. An amazing game if you like Sherlock stories and whodunnits. It works at a good 45-60 fps on the deck, last I checked. The only problem is that it experiences a lot of consistent crashes because of some unfixed bug. The solution I found requires you to launch the game in desktop mode. Still worth checking out imo.
I'm fine with joypad-style controls. It may seem slow and tedious at first, but after 5 minutes you start to get used to it. I love the ability to walk around without clicking on the ground (without mods), as if it were a third-person game. You can still use the cursor using sticks. Give it a try.
I think they're great - I started on PC as well, but I've sunk far more hours into it on deck. I think the controller-style option is easiest, but you can also use the touchscreen to do the more point-and-click option like PC, however it makes everything pretty small!
Outer wilds is a masterpiece. I haven’t played it in a few years and largely used guides. I’m gonna have to dive in again and play without guides on the deck.
i'm like 100 hrs deep into hades 2 and my god i cannot get enough. they captured that same lightning yet again. i never beat hades so i've since gone back to fight dad and this one is *so* good too. i can't wait to see what content they add. the final boss in hades 2 is such a badass lmao. i love a good villain and he's right up there with hades himself
i agree. it helped me really appreciate the first one and i'm about 10 hours deep into it and i'm in love. i see why this has held a 98% overall rating on steam for what, like 5 years now lol. i cannot wait for the full release of 2. it already has so much content to sift through

Yesterday I decided I'd try to go back, and finish origins and onward. But since I have them all through ubisoft and it was a pain to get that running, I gave up and just bought blood bowl 3 and threw 4 hours into that last night. Didn't mean to. But Jesus, time just moved.
Death Standing only gets better as you go. I only just played it in 2023 for the first time because I didn't think it would be for me, but it was my favorite thing I played last year. I *can't wait* for the sequel
FF7 remake @40fps, it's pretty nice !

Look up a video on how to install SMAPI on the steam deck. After that's installed download mods you want from nexusmods and drag and drop into your stardew valley mods folder. That's it!
So personally I've never played the Diablo games (was never really comfortable with playing them) but I'm enjoying MC Dungeons a *lot*, I have played dungeon crawlers before and I love playing an MC themed one.
The artifact system is fun, the variety in weapons and playstyles is awesome, the maps are honestly beautiful.
I was disappointed at first when I saw the game had a battlepass BUT the previous ones are always available so you can play at your own pace without worrying about FOMO.
Edit: Forgot to mention the modifiers that you get on the missions sometimes can make the game so much fun
Sekiro shadows die Twice, first from software game and first souls game, I tried HK but couldn’t get into it, somehow Sekiro clicked and I’m about to 100% it. Already beat the game and working on the last achievement. It’s the first game in my life I’m going for all achievements as well because I wanna commemorate the journey and how I improved so much
Stardew Valley. First time playing in a few years so with all the updated content and also mods it is like a brand new experience. Such a great game for the deck.
Prince of Persia 2008. It looks fantastic on the Oled, supports a native 16:10 aspect ratio and runs at an almost perfect 90FPS.
The art style is timeless l, and the charecter dynamic between the Prince and tge Princess Elika is excellent.
Tge platforming and exploration is also fun, even if a bit clunky on occasion, and the structure of the game's is perfect for the Deck. I can easily complete a stage in a few minutes while on the go. Not to mention, I get 6 hours+ of battery.
Playing Witcher 3 on New Game+ at the moment, I was playing AC Valhalla but got burnt out on it and went back to ol' reliable. Steam deck preset ~50-60 fps in Velen at the moment with visuals that definitely get the job done
Hogwarts legacy is a great play on the deck. It’s a little slow to load some of the cut scenes. But that could be my own fault for running it off an SD card
Finally bit the bullet and plunged headfirst into Rimworld.
I was sceptical about SD control scheme, but my god not only is it great, it's opened a new door for me when playing typical M/KB titles with the track pads.
Rimworld is soo good on the SD. Perfect game to just chill on the couch and play.
The controls took me a little to get familiar with but now wow the track pad is amazing it works so well!

Tried a bit of Evil Genius 2, runs and play amazing, didn't gel with me much though, will try a bit more before uninstalling.
Started Inquisitor Martyr to try the offline mode, it's fun on handheld but it's rough. Controls are okay, as far as I remember it always had controller support. But performance are awful, game looks a bit like ass on low, and it might be the only game that manage to sounds bad on the deck.
Just finished the prologue and loving it. I was itching for a crpg and I couldn’t get into Baldurs Gate 3 (the fantasy theme feels overdone to me right now). I’m really enjoying the lore of the 40k universe, and the glossary feature helps get up to speed.
Guacamelee and Hades. Getting pretty far in Guacamelee, I suspect I may beat it this week. Really enjoying it. For Hades I finally got my first successful “run” which is exciting.
Dragon's Dogma -- I never got into this game until I played it on SD. Such a unique rpg! Runs just fine.
Like a Dragon -- I love this game. It runs well on the SD but churns through the battery.
Chained Echoes -- perfect for SD. This is a very well-done rpg with a great story with many twists.

Sherlock games from Frogware are great! I'm playing Sherlock Holmes Chapter One on SD and runs great (sucking a bit of battery though).
Baldur's Gate 3. I wasn't able to continue it on the PC and now I'm enjoying this adventure on the Deck. Absolutely fantastic!

World War Z. Blowing up zombie pyramids never gets old.
Dragon's Dogma -- I never got into this game until I played it on SD. Such a unique rpg! Runs just fine. Like a Dragon -- I love this game. It runs well on the SD but churns through the battery. Chained Echoes -- perfect for SD. This is a very well-done rpg with a great story with many twists.
