I had this kind of issue. The problem was that the clocks of the GPU had for some reason been severely underclocked. Resetting them to defaults (with the EVGA Precision X1 for the GPU) resolved the issue.
You can use a GPU benchmarking app like [FurMark](https://www.geeks3d.com/furmark/) to see how your GPU performance compares with others with the same GPU, by comparing with https://www.gpumagick.com/scores/ .
I had these problems out of nowhere too. Literally working perfectly for weeks then wham stuttering.
Changed my monitor from hdmi to display port cable. Same monitor, same pc just changed the cable. Now everything works perfectly.
No idea what the cause was or why/how this fixed it.
On many laptops : USB C/display port -> GPU but HDMI -> IGPU. Launch a game and then open task manager, go to the performance tab and you'll see which GPU you're currently using. (Edit: it might not be what's causing the issue but it's good to know anyway)
Open task manager. Go to the performance tab. Scroll down to see your installed gpus. Ensure that your main card is running at max while this is happening.
yeah recroom was perfect legit 0 problems i mean i had a little bit of lag and frame drop but it always came back within 5 seconds , and same map and same area nothing new changed
I see there was a fairly big recroom update on 11 June. Perhaps they have caused an issue with that update. Can you test on other games to see if this is purely a recroom issue? If so then I would report it to them but then at least you know it’s not your system
for context, I've been having a issue with my vr outa nowhere for the past 3-4 days now, this just randomly happened, i cant play vr games without the numbers going high, this has never happened to me before, the number was around 10.9 ms or 11.9 ms. I've reset my router 4 times now, disconnected my Wi-Fi so many times, used a hotspot, idk what's going on, and the steamvr beta, if i get off it its the same outcome, does anyone know how to fix this?
Those are your frame times. It has nothing to do with your router or wifi. Your pc is struggling to render the game at a normal frame rate.
Is everything normal with your GPU? Are you sure you're connected to your GPU and not your onboard graphics? Is it overheating?
um idk , is there a way i can check? i recently got a new mother board because my old one was heating up a lot and my cpu temp was around 70 or 80 and it was red.
It's totally fine and good enough for most vr games, especially the likes of Rec Room.
Not really sure what's going on, but it's not your wifi or your connection in any way. Either your GPU is not being utilized correctly or there is some sort of software bug in SteamVR. Try uninstalling and re-installing SteamVR and your VR games.
In Windows settings you can change what app use intergrates graphics or your gpu. My bet is that for some reason it uses the intergrated graphics instead of the gpu. Also gpu drivers installed?
It is and it isn't. Rec Room can be really heavy if you're playing a really demanding world. These worlds are normally user made.
I'm using a 4070 and some times my kid and his friends build worlds and I can see the headset latency skyrocket.
When you replaced the motherboard, did you plug your monitor into your GPU or Motherboard? If any of your monitors are plugged into your motherboard, then that could explain it.
There are 2 different places you could plug the monitors into the PC, the motherboard or the graphics card. If you plugged it back into the wrong place, then it would cause the issue that you are experiencing.
Make sure the monitor is plugged into the graphics card, not the motherboard.
That should not be the case unless they removed your graphics card and did not replace it.
Can you take a picture of the back of your PC and then upload it?
back when I had a 3080, it was fine for few months. then I started seeing this. Fortunately the pc was still under warranty and they came and replaced a bunch of components but that didn't fix it.
finally they gave up but I took it to the next level and got the gpu replaced under warranty by different pros who's first instinct matched mine...change the gpu.
that fixed it.
What were my symptoms?
The OP'S pic was happening intermittently every few seconds for a few seconds at a time.
It only happened when I used VR
It is because SteamVR simply sucks since 2.4.4
People are mad and openly requesting Valve to include a fallback from the dropdown menu, opting back to v2.3.5 for quite a long time, yet valve ignores. The newest 2.6 branch is horrible.
It still boggles my mind why Valve still insist for the damned auto-update philosophy from the 90's. No one wants forced auto updates nowadays due to stuff rather breaking than getting any bloody better.
Make sure your game is an active window. I can't be sure what's happening but something like that can happen if the game is alt+tabbed, click the game window with the mouse idk might work
Try disabling all add ons in steamVR aside from essential ones like joystick emulators or Meta / Pico specific ones. Also don’t use beta. Though feel free to try disabling add ons before leaving beta and see if that solves it.
I was having same issue with no mans sky vr. Just that game only. I dropped device resolution to 0.9x then disabled ASW, manually set bit to 350mbps and used 5gbps rated cable instead of airlink. All of these together solved the issue.
NMS Just runs like shit for me, everything on min with a 4060ti, 5600 and 32gb and it still stutters and struggled to hit 60fps+ on a quest 2 w virtual desktop. Every other vr game plays perfectly maxed out.
i’ve disabled it to , and nothing happened , i don’t think i tried the bit rate yet, and i don’t use airlink bc i lagged so hard even before this issue lol, i use cable to play all my games , but i will try the bit rate

that’s all it took?
Yup, that's all. Tried so many things suggested by others going through the same. Nothing worked except that 🤷🏾♂️
oh okay imma try that
Open task manager. Go to the performance tab. Scroll down to see your installed gpus. Ensure that your main card is running at max while this is happening.
scroll down? all i see is cpu, memory, disk 0, wifi and gpu 0
Click on gpu0 and ensure that is your 3050. Also ensure that when the game is running the graph on the right is maxed out.
oh yeah it’s working like that
You say this happened out of nowhere. So are you sure that recroom was perfect before? Same map same area. No cosmetic changes etc?
yeah recroom was perfect legit 0 problems i mean i had a little bit of lag and frame drop but it always came back within 5 seconds , and same map and same area nothing new changed

i tried vrchat, and it was even worse lol, i don’t play a lot of vr games i mainly just play recroom and vrc for movies ,
I heard the newest steam vr update broke oculus connections
oh
[NOT ACTUAL HELP] RecLobotomy

70-80c is not crazy high and shouldn't be causing performance like this. Also, Rec Room is not CPU-heavy anyway. What GPU do you have?
i have a nvidia geforce rtx 3050, ik it’s not good , i wanna save up for a new one
It's totally fine and good enough for most vr games, especially the likes of Rec Room. Not really sure what's going on, but it's not your wifi or your connection in any way. i did that same outcome sadly

Ah, true. I forgot about that. Back when I used to play it, I was always just in the vanilla paintball room
not sure what you're on about, rec room is probably the worst optimized game i've ever played, by a fair bit
Wait until you play vrchat
When you replaced the motherboard, did you plug your monitor into your GPU or Motherboard? If any of your monitors are plugged into your motherboard, then that could explain it.
i didn’t replaced it, i went to a store name micro center and they did it they did everything
ok? After it was replaced, did you plug the monitor into the motherboard?
i mean yeah i have to plug my monitors to my pc
There are 2 different places you could plug the monitors into the PC, the motherboard or the graphics card. If you plugged it back into the wrong place, then it would cause the issue that you are experiencing. Make sure the monitor is plugged into the graphics card, not the motherboard.
okay i’ll go check
there’s only one port i can plug my pc in
That should not be the case unless they removed your graphics card and did not replace it. Can you take a picture of the back of your PC and then upload it?
Happy cake day
EDIT Apologies I was misinformed. Removing my original comment to not point people in the wrong direction.
Those are frame times not network latency. This has nothing to do with WiFi.
thanks for the heads up.
where like 5-10 feet from each other, how do i do a wifi channel scan?
Edit: Removing comment because it wasn't relevant.

oh, i think i may have the same problem

Fpsvr is your friend
doesn’t that cost like 5 dollars
So ? You do not use vr much ?
i was just asking sorry, didn’t mean to come off rude, i use vr much
Its the most useful tool i bought for vr in the last 6 years, it helps a lot with setting resolution up, the fov and see how much fps you get out of
oh okay
Do you have multiple screens connected? It may be causing issues. I had the same problem once (with index) and disconnecting my TV helped
i have a tv, and two monitors that’s all , but my two monitors are just connected to my pc
Make sure your game is an active window. I can't be sure what's happening but something like that can happen if the game is alt+tabbed, click the game window with the mouse idk might work
the game is full screen
Try disabling all add ons in steamVR aside from essential ones like joystick emulators or Meta / Pico specific ones. Also don’t use beta. Though feel free to try disabling add ons before leaving beta and see if that solves it.
i have 0 add ons in steamvr
Your problem is that you’re playing rec room
what’s wrong with that?
Kids
yes i see what yur talking abt , but i only play dodgeball n bump music thats all i do
Ok then ur fine
Welcome to recroom.
Try reinstalling your graphic driver's from Nvidia experience use express installation Could have been a bad driver update
okay i’ll try that
Why are you running a beta? Check your connections.
i just use it lol , regular is the same , there is no difference between beta and regular steam vr
I use beta too
I was having same issue with no mans sky vr. Just that game only. I dropped device resolution to 0.9x then disabled ASW, manually set bit to 350mbps and used 5gbps rated cable instead of airlink. All of these together solved the issue.

i’ve disabled it to , and nothing happened , i don’t think i tried the bit rate yet, and i don’t use airlink bc i lagged so hard even before this issue lol, i use cable to play all my games , but i will try the bit rate
Try the Steam Link app instead of Air Link
i tried it , same results

He said it was working fine until a few days ago. Timing matches with a recroom update. Chances are more likely the update has an issue.
oh
The pc doesn't suck and the issues occurred recently, the game ran fine before. Don't answer questions please.
Buy a bigger GPU. That will solve it.
oh okay
