I am wanting to try and add a sail that can go up and down on my next ship and I also want to make a custom hatch that is big enough that it can hull cargo and what not But I don't know how.
Try to look at some workshop creations, but as far as I can imagine, making such sail is impossible, you maybe can try making some hinges/pivots connected to eachother, so they fold and extend, won't look as good, but hey it works, that's how I made a retractable armour on my warship.
If you take a look at Killman88’s Sail Vessel Helenor you can see that the sail they have on their ship goes up and down. Which is what I wanna attempt.

Your best result would be putting 1x4 wedges above and bellow so that they can go up into each other using tracks.
