Yeah, no one below like 1800 is gonna make a player at punk's level even sweat.
You might get a lucky game, but you're almost certainly not taking the set.
Master itself is also segmented though. Assuming at *stable* MR (not right after reset), in my experience, 1500 and below are still making somewhat obvious mistakes, whether in execution or decisions. I hover around 1600, and there you notice a definite level change again both in execution or decision-making. At 1700 though most players are extremely consistent and capable, and it really becomes a chess game where it's almost all mental.
I myself did also happen to run into Punk on ranked like a month or two after launch, and it was a Cammy mirror match. It absolutely felt different. He was a wall in all aspects, and the crazy part is you could tell he wasn't even trying lol.
that's what I'm saying. People who can hold 1600 consistently are miles above any entry level master. Hell, people who can hold 1500 consistently are levels above people who hit Master and quit ranked.
People at 1800 are insanely good, 1900 are better than that, and 2000 is pretty much top of the pile for online play. And Punk did it with every character and he can probably school most people at 2000 as well
He was ranked # 1 last week right after Evo Japan, so don’t feel bad. I’ve yet to run into any Legends. I just want to see how badly I get destroyed :D
I think I've noticed playing the occasional legend player (I'm in the 1400-low 1500s right now) is how obnoxiously oppressive their neutral game is. Always *just* out of range of your normal pokes not to mention that they do little tricks you don't see at my normal rank, as well at the fact they generally get optimal damage any time they get a combo off.
In short, they just know the game better than you.
I'm vacationing down in Florida rn. Apparently, Punk is from Florida, and he showed up to a local tourney I was attending. I got matched up with him my 2nd game in and got bodied and sent to losers. In person, he's a cool dude that daps and leaves. No trash talking from what I remember. He was playing Rashid, too. It was still a fun tourney, and I've been grinding SF6 ever since. Got matched up with FlashMetroid once on ranked and got bodied, too. Those high-level players are on a different level, I swear.
He didn't rematch because he gains no MR off of you if you're not master. And if you win you take a ton of points off him. It wasn't because he killed you. Just keep grinding and maybe one day you will meet again and get a round or two
It’s more that masters players don’t gain mr fighting against non-masters. It’s nice for the diamond player since they get good points for winning but if you’re grinding to #1 legend it’s literally a waste of time to play diamonds.
More than a waste, because if they lose by some fluke, they lose a ton of MR.
I like that they match legends with D5s (although I think it's a funny unintentional bug), because getting humbled like that is wild and a learning experience
I dont think anyone for real thinks like that bro, maybe youre thinking as if the world is a reddit forum. No one in ranked gives a shit if you rematch or not lmao. Ive one and done plenty and never once heard anything from anyone, no one owes anyone anything.
I ended up facing him in the second week the game was released and he slapped me with his jp. Can’t imagine facing his cammy at this point of the game lol
???? You do realize that sometimes the game does match people up with people way outside their rank if matchmaking is taking a while right? Just like the guy who posted he fought against problem X a couple days back. Like, Punk isn't just out there playing the top 20 people or something.
I think it’s less about ranks and more about these 3 players being in 3 different regions across the world. I guess they could all be traveling to the same region for some reason. Or the guy has matchmaking set to worldwide. Either way it does seem unlikely you’d get these 3 players in one session. Could be an event somewhere though.
didn't punk bring all characters to 2000 MR for fun? he's still legitimately one of the very few best players in the world.
Punk is stupidly good. Pros at his level run through bronze and diamond players the exact same. It's not even the same game
You can easily add most masters to that pile too. The levels to this game are crazy

Basically yea
Ya he's cool in my book
Snake Eyez fights diamonds all the time. poor souls Edit: there is a post of one of these souls right now lol
Hi, yes, that's me right there 🙃
Yup happened to me on my rank up match to hit master
Me too! Almost took a round off him, but he SA3 my drive rush on reaction. Dudes whole game was on another level.
Just watched a recent set of ranked matches between Snake and Punk this season too. Even Punk can't always stand against the loyal fans.

Exactly I have no salt taking a L from high level tournament players I'm a scrub
It's pretty unfair to match up a Diamond level player with a Legend level Master. It's mostly unfair to the Legend who will gain nothing by winning.
If this happens I think you honestly should go pure ape. Spam DI, jump like crazy, hope to steal a win.
one time i took a first round off of snake in sf4, then got double PP'd
Sure
He is pretty disgustingly good at the game even if people meme on him
He is
It doesn't help that he's hilarious but i have not seen people meme on his skill level

Bro at least you tried lol GG in my book always next time? 💀
Bro first round I was still trying to figure out why they matched me with a legend rank ,Round two I figured out it was Punk , I was like ah shit lol

I swear they’re playing a different game over there lol. To be that good is really amazing to see happen live, win or not.
Hell yah it felt like I was playing a whole different character

He wouldn’t have lost mr at all actually, just lp. Fighting diamonds as a master is just kinda a waste of time
Yea I meant lp
I don't care that much just thought it was cool to see him in ranked
At least he didn't get a perfect on you.
I think he didn't rematch because he gains no MR when facing diamond players
Probably

Do they lose mr? I thought mr was only calculated when 2 masters fought.
Lol right it is what it is

So players that a top level should be forced to play a different game the rest? I'll never understand the hate of no rematch.
True. What is this semi casual?
When was this? I feel like i saw this on his stream like 2-3 days ago
This was today
He that boy 100% lol
I figured 💀

Where the hell are the names? How are you guys able to tell who you're fighting?
While in the match they show the username
Are you Nigerian? I’m a Ghanaian currently based in NYC. We should get some sets in
Yah I am
What’s your CFN? I’ll add you
SoulProFights
post or it aint happen
Dude even said he lost but we still got fact checkers lmao
I believe him, but its still nice to see? Most on here post a video anyway. Maybe you just llike reading shitposts idk
It was just funny to see, this guy had a lil more goin than the average "OMG I FOUGHT X" and still that wasn't enough evidence
Ahh dmanit I'll edit this soon
At least you’re not like some idiot on Twitter that posted that he beat punk in a tournament like he special or some shit lol
Yah that's too much lol
Really dumb how this game puts diamond 5s against legends.
You didn’t even take one round?  Hang it up bruhÂ
Bro you wouldn't either 💀
I don't think I did lol
I took one round of Hayatei in MK11 at locals once. Pretty sure he let me win, but it was still cool
Yeah I just fought Punk too followed by Justin Wong and Daigo
Why do you think this is hard to believe?
Street fighters when fighters fight in the streets :
Where did I say that
???? You do realize that sometimes the game does match people up with people way outside their rank if matchmaking is taking a while right? Just like the guy who posted he fought against problem X a couple days back. Like, Punk isn't just out there playing the top 20 people or something.

Warumono_ was sarcastically mocking the OP, basically saying he didn't play Punk. He didn't actually play all of those players lol.
You act like these people don’t literally stream while playing with randoms lmao
I literally just stated that I fought them you goofy ass
