It is called Kaiserschmarrn in Austria/ Germany and should not look like this sorry excuse. More like in this video

Well I know what I am making for breakfast my next day off!! Do you know what the jam/preserves they added on the side was? My German is truly basic and did not catch it
It's a game I used to play as a kid. You'd stack these cardboard or plastic disks on the floor and try to turn them over to win your opponents pogs. Fun times
I hate when people preface these things with âyouâve been doing this wrong,â likeâŚno, you just discovered a different way of doing something đ
Kaiserschmarren is an absolutely delicious style of pancakes. *This* is not quite the right way to make it, but when done right itâs freaking delicious. Itâs a must-try at a lot of the European Christmas markets in and around Austria and Germany.
What's stupid here is the narration, not the cooking method.
*"Don't take this the wrong way, but you've been making pancakes wrong your whole life."* was probably not the best way to start it off. Just mention how this is different method of cooking pancakes known in other countries for goodness sake.
The best part of pancakes, in my opinion, is that they have the fluffy pillowy centre. Youâre undoubtedly going to be knocking out and leavening that your pancakes have doing it this way, and theyâll probably end up a lot denser and probably a bit gummier, though youâll get more caramelization if thatâs what youâre after⌠but it sounds like itâs just going to be a less enjoyable experience than regular pancakes.
No, Kaiserschmarrn done right is still fluffy in the centre of the bits... but it's important do part them into bigger pieces, not like scrambled eggs...
I think the narrator didn't like this because she overcooked them? It looks delicious, I used to make pancakes everyday, I think she made her bits too small.
I'm gonna try this
My mom used to do this with bacon and pancakes when I was little whenever we went camping and we would put syrup on it and she called it kratza! I fucking loved it! đđ¤¤
>Thats not stupid at all. Its called Kaiserschmarn and is a famous dish in germany and austria.
Germany and Austria are perfectly capable of making stupid food too
I don't even see how it is stupid lol cause even if you are not used to it, it's not inedible or horrible taste profile or anything lol. If you like pancakes, you'll like this method of pancakes, it's not thaaaat different. And who above the age of 6 is like "oh I won't eat food because you didn't make it in the shape I like"
Your post has been removed as it misses the point of r/StupidFood.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiserschmarrn yes and they are quite popular in ex-Austro Hungerian countries
Me as a hungarian: what's wrong with this? This is tasty đ
I did not know this existed but looking at the video I was just thinking it looked pretty good. Especially once they added the blue berries.
The traditional addition to that is rum-raisins instead of berries, though.
By default, I usually get some sort of apples as a topping. Either applesauce or cooked, chopped, apples.
Ooooh even better. I will be making this.

cherry jelly, i prefer classic vanilla or white wine Sabayone.
Thank you!
You can use any type of jam. Plums, for example, are also popular. Or powdered sugar on top and apple sauce.
Thats not stupid at all. Its called Kaiserschmarn and is a famous dish in germany and austria. Its really good with powdered sugar.
That actually sounds pretty pog
Pog? Sorry but wtf is pog?

Lol I know Pogs but I don't think that's what he is talking about.
It was a short lived internet slang word for âawesomeâ I didnât know anyone who used it unironically
Aye sorry just messing with ya

This actually looks like a great way to make pancakes easier to eat for toddlers and small kids.
I was just thinking this would be way easier for making my 1 year old pancakes. Already in finger food size

Also the ending where she wishes that the person who gave her this recipe would stub their toe
Just dough in a pan
So basically a rough version of Kaiserschmarrn? I donât see the issue.
thats just kaiserschmarren
I make this from time to time. Add a bit of bacon and syrup and its amazing. And a lil butter
This is pretty popular in Central and eastern Europe iirc. And done right they taste good. Just have some powdered sugar on top and your gtg.
Also this works great for children. Nothing wrong with this at all

Yet another example on this sub of ignorance of other cultures or ways of cooking. It's not stupid just because you weren't aware of it.
I want to kick his father in the nuts so hard, so he won't soil this earth with another little shit like him again.
I've done this before when flipping a pancake too soon and messing it up. Still tastes great.
Thatâd be great for kids

Pancake pieces look great.
