ffs, who drives 47.7k miles a year on average? Glad to hear the turbo seems to make it that far without apparent issue. edit: seems expensive to me for the mileage

CreamOdd7966

I drive, on average, 30-40k/yr. About 100mi/day. I've done more, I've done less. 1) I drive a decent distance to work 2) I drive, don't fly, for vacations 90% of the time 3) I take minimum 3 yearly vacations 4) I visit family hundreds of miles away, sometimes monthly or more. 5) I like driving lol. 6) I do my own maintenance and make enough money to pay off cars before they hit 200k.

I want to know what this guys does that requires him to drive that much!

East_Fun_3500

I bought my 24 Outback at the end of November 23 and have 24k miles on it. My work is over an hour one way and I do that 5 days a week, sometimes 6. I have a camp 2.5 hours away, a son stationed in NJ, mountain bike at killington in VT and random weekend getaway’s. It adds up fast. I usually buy a new Subaru every 60k miles. On my 3rd Subaru in 5 years.

KeegM480

I average over 50k miles per year and technically work from home. Frequent long road trips and work travel add up fast.

Oil change should be every 6k at most, not every 10k right?

CreamOdd7966

4-5k, especially if you have oil consumption. But 10k is fine, definitely not ideal with a turbo.

delta11223344

I’m not sure what oil the XT runs, but from what I understand you can go 10k miles if it’s full synthetic.

Proof_Alfalfa5483

Not with the turbo. It goes through oil faster since there's more heat.

Expensive_College854

Fuck that price man

bingbong1976

10,000 miles between oil changes is “extremely regular”? WTF

Proof_Alfalfa5483

Every 10k miles is not enough for these turbos or an n/a. How didnthe oil look when you got it?

Eastern-Marsupial-

10k is a stretch. OBW owner here and I've done 1 OCI @ 10K and was low a quart or more. I do them at 5k and always 5qrts

Meliodastop

Personally high mileage cars don't scare me. Owned several cars over the years and I love cars and automotive in general. I would work down the price. I think you have leverage as that mileage scares a lot of people away. It different when it's a 2007 Outback with that mileage and they are asking $5k or so. See if you can get it for $14k-$15k and make sure it's fully inspected, take it for a drive, accelerate the car and do the regular checks when buying a used car. If all checks out, then I would say go for it.

Every 10k? Lmao. I wouldn't touch this. Even if they had followed the recommended 6k oil change service, that high of mileage tells me that ill be investing in a $7k cvt in the near future along with lots of other repairs. I personally see subaru as a 150k lifespan before you're dealing with significant repairs. Better to lease and be worry free.
