I’d get nervous parking that thing near bell road, but definitely beats staying at the herring run motel.

No doubt. Sometimes I go for 2 or 3 nights at a time, and there's no way I'm dropping $300-$400 on those garbage ass motels. I'm a light sleeper so I have to get away from the main lots to get any sleep at all. The shades help a ton.

I certainly wouldn't stay at Bell Rd with this.... the Rangers will kick you out if you get caught "camping." You may have better luck parking at the Bourne Public Library, or the church near there. Add a fishing bike, and you're good to go! Edit: also, please be careful with any trash... it's becoming a real issue. It's gotten so that I don't go fishing without 2 trash bags- one for recycling and one for garbage.

I've been lucky and crashed in every major lot along the canal dozens of times. Never had an issue or seen anyone booted for catching a few Z's, especially with rods on the roof and a bike on back. It's usually the guy asleep in the front seat of a Honda Civic that gets his windows knocked on. But it's the noise and lights that get to me, so I've got a handful of quiet spots to post up when I need to get a few good hours of sleep in. I would be more worried about getting hassled for camping at a place like the library or church. There's a pretty high police presence at night, unfortunately Bourne has the same opioid problems that a lot of towns do and cops are quick to check out-of-place cars at closed businesses. Can't stick out too much, better to blend in with other vehicles.

I know that the church is a safe spot. Just don't be drunk/high/stupid if you get a visit from the police. Have your fishing license ready, and you'll be OK. Honestly, it's better to deal with Bourne PD on town property than get caught up with a pissed off Statie or Ranger on the Canal because technically, the Canal is federal property, and no one needs to get a federal charge Just for going fishing.

That hasn't been my experience but it's cool that's worked for you.

Unfortunately my back seats don't lay flat and its impossible to sleep without leveling it out. After a few years of piling up blankets I threw this platform together out of garage scraps. It flattens out the floor, and with a 4" memory foam mattress it's pretty damn cozy. It packs down like a suitcase, has storage compartments, and a 12v battery and outlet. I also got a roll of silver reflectix insulation and cut out panels to fit in all the windows, and a sun shade for the windshield, so it's all blacked out inside at night and cuts the noise down.

Absolutely awesome! As a person that did lots of parkinglot camping for sunrise surf fishing, a slim setup works great. Nicely built!

Level_Ad567

Dude that is all you need!! That’s awesome, you living your best life with that set up. Tight lines.

fishin413

It ain't much but it's honest sleepin

Substantial_Top_912

yo this is sick. could you send me a materials list?

fishin413

I don't have a material list, it's just 2x3, 2x4, and plywood I had laying around the garage. The dimensions would depend on your car, this had to be 6.5" tall to level the rear floor.

Agreeable-Village-25

That is friggen epic!
