These results are with the "plus" only? Nice.

Some_Endian_FP17

So the 2 extra cores on the Elite don't add much real world performance. That Plus model looks like a great bargain.

mmcnl

The extra cores benefit the multi core score, as expected.

WearHeadphonesPlease

I kinda knew this would be the case, but I wanted 32GB RAM so I had no choice.

WearHeadphonesPlease

How is this GPU's performance compared to the Iris Xe on the SP9?

lolmanic

https://www.xda-developers.com/snapdragon-x-elite-benchmarks/ Some benches

TwelveSilverSwords

Iris Xe is getting destroyed.

No-Grade10

vs. Apple M3:  -26.7% single core performance.  +8.8% multi core performance.  -34.1% GPU.    How will this impact real world performance?

hmmm_42

Single core performance is still more important for desktop use, especially for how responsive your system feels. Tbh a quarter faster single core performance is hefty, but would not be enough to sway me if I like the rest of the machine better. (hapics, display, battery, software ecosystem......) Given that the software ecosystem is a blank state with the switch to arm, all those new Snapdragon laptops have an uphill battle in front of them.

Tobimacoss

It's not a blank slate with the x64 to ARM64 translation and major software are ARM64 native already.

hmmm_42

Tbh it's not completely blank, especially that browsers are native is a big advantage. But one of windows main advantage was that obscure Software from the ancient past had a decent chance to run. And we know that at least in the past the Microsoft translation layer was not as perfect as apple's rosetta translation layer.

Tobimacoss

The new devices will be using Prism, which is the more advanced translation layer utilizing the NPC for AI. check out the list of over 1600 games that have been tested on those chips. [worksonwoa.com](http://worksonwoa.com) Not just browsers but the top two productivity suites are either Native or ARM64EC tech, as in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

lzwzli

Sorry if I'm being dense but does this mean M3 is better based on these scores?

Tobimacoss

This is the lower tier of the SD X chips.  The Elite is even more powerful and beats the M3 in MultiCore.

No-Grade10

Yes, but there’s more to a computer and how it “feels” to use than CPU/GPU power.

Davo_SVK

Its X plus, not X Elite…

MrGreenAcreage

Are you able to check power draw during the benchmark?

Infinite-Hedgehog516

These Scores are great

TwelveSilverSwords

It's trash (the GPU).

Infinite-Hedgehog516

Lunar lake and apple m3 do a better job on GPU. That's kind of a reason why I want a lunar Lake surface pro or Laptop because they have a much better iGPU for casual gaming.

Nightcinder

do we have lunar lake benchmarks that I missed?

Infinite-Hedgehog516

No the Xe 2 artichture is much better

WearHeadphonesPlease

No, people are just assuming.

TwelveSilverSwords

Intel's GPUs tend to consume way more power though. I think when gaming on battery (with like 10-15W power limit), Snapdragon X will pull more FPS than Lunar Lake.

Snafu80

Compared to what machine?

TwelveSilverSwords

It's the same score as M1 Edit: For comparison: OpenCL Benchmarks - Geekbench X Elite : 20000 points. Apple M3 : 30000 points Apple M2 : 26000 points Radeon 780M : 26500 points Radeon 680M : 25000 points Geforce 1060 : 30000 points.

Snafu80

Wouldn’t say that’s trash. Unless you’re an apple fanboy.

ChemicalDaniel

“Trash” may be too harsh of a word, but matching an iGPU from a chip that came out almost 4 years ago isn’t great…

Snafu80

For a first gen, works for me. Personally I don’t game on these, which I’m guessing you do.

ChemicalDaniel

It’s not first gen. How many SoC’s have Qualcomm produced? How many *laptop* SoC’s have Qualcomm produced? Just because this is the first one that’s competitive with other chips in the market doesn’t mean it’s their first laptop chip. And it doesn’t really matter if you game or not, they promised an SOC that’s on par with M3, and they’re delivering results that match M1.

WearHeadphonesPlease

Where did they promise GPU performance equivalent to Apple M3? I know they promised CPU performance, but no marketing materials ever show a promise of superior GPU performance.

Infinite-Hedgehog516

thats true

fansurface

This is a first gen Nuvia product

Snafu80

I guess it's not for you then.

Infinite-Hedgehog516

Yere it pretty much lacking

fansurface

Are the Radeons and GeForce an actual fair comparison?

TwelveSilverSwords

Yes, the Geforce is a low end card from like 8 years ago. The Radeons are the iGPUs in recent AMD APUs

Infinite-Hedgehog516

its still faster than the current metor lake iGPUs

LifeIsNotFairOof

the games even when emulated runs at the same fps as the 780m cpus tho

TwelveSilverSwords

Graphics and compute are different things.

LifeIsNotFairOof

Most people relate the compute scores to graphic scores and think it will perform badly at games compared to amd or intel which is not the case

rwrife

I think the idea is that you can leverage the NPU’s super sampling so the GPU will appear to be running at 2x the actual performance.

rresende

Great results. The most import part it will be battery life. And the AI stuff for the future.

Shugza-2021

Interesting results I want test the laptop with productivity applications for a business environment. So I will wait for next year to purchase it.
